Like every new policy, there's going to be some "growing pains". I get it's frustrating, but to go and experience something so new and expect everything to run smoothly is just setting yourself up for frustration.

On sun, RSR was down in the morning but we grabbed FPs and used them in the afternoon.
Coming out of lurker mode for this... We'll be in the parks Thursday and Friday... I'm trying to figure out what's up with the fastpasses? Are they are aren't they enforcing times? I don't want to get caught pulling FP's for something and doing what we normally do, just go back whenever and being told we missed our window. Thanks in advance for the info!
Things have been inconsistent but based on what I've heard, if there are a lot of outages during the day, CMs are much more likely to accept FPs from any time in the day, but there HAVE been plenty of instances where late FPs are turned away. If you use the FP the way it was intended, that is returning in your window, then you won't have any problem using it. If you choose to risk it, then you should know that it is a real risk and many people have been turned away.

Shelby, is that for everything, or just Radiator Springs Racers?
On July 20th-26th they were not enforcing the return time. Now I don't know about RSR because we did not get fastpasses for it we went single rider.
July 29th they were not enforcing return time on RSR, though that might have been due to the fact that the ride was down twice throughout the day...
Been watching the Disneyland wait times and it seems like RSR is either down or has a 120+ wait whenever I check it. Hoping that the lines are better in October when we get to go. Maybe that's why they are not enforcing?
Aside from RSR what is everyone else seeing in either parks with the FP right now? I may need a couple months to retrain my husband (the self-proclaimed King of the FastPass)

When they made the switch at WDW there was a big to-do about the whole thing. Signs and all. As reported by other guests above, CM are still telling people that they do not have to follow the return time as long as they come back after the first time.

As of Thursday 8/09/12 no Fastpasses were enforced, including RSR which we returned to about 1 hour past our return window.
For the week of August 5-9 RSR was not enforcing the return time, in fact I asked the CM if I could get a later time and was told any time AFTER that time was fine and I had no difficulties at any other location with the fast passes either.

I know in the past as long as you go after the start time it didn't matter how late in the day it was it was still good, but I also remember last time we went (back in Feb) there was talk that they were going to start enforcing that you had to go before the end time as well. Just checking before our trip next month.
Thanks
The latest reports have them still accepting them. In June we had no problem using them after.
Everywhere but Carsland which is naturally very crowded right now. Even that is touch and go at times, as they have had some breakdowns and have shown flexibility where possible.
You might check with a CM at the fastpass distribution site for this ride if you feel unsure; I don't know what wait times will be like in off peak November times.

So, now that it's been a few months, have they been enforcing the Fastpasses?
I had thought I had read they were being more strict at Radiator Springs Racers, but was unsure.
Well, you know how things are there! Things may have changed a great deal by November! We've only done rides on it during a preview day, on single rider, and once when we ran into a lucky break. Other than that, we're waiting for the crowds to drop a bit because we don't do lines! It's a great ride, but it will be there in a few months or next year.
I know not everyone has that kind of flexibility, however.

We were allowed to use our earlier (same day) fastpasses on Star Tours last night.
That is usually the way we work also, but since B graciously stayed home from the Carsland party, we will bite the bullet a couple of times so he can ride it.
Even as a teenager, I only went every other year but I didn't waste my time in a 3 hour Splash Mountain figuring it would still be there next time.
I for one would want them to enforce the FP return times as a rule, with the only exception being that a ride was down for an extended period of time.
I too have seen theng lines in the evenings when all the folks who know about Disney not enforcing the return times are getting on the rides.
I can just imagine the outrage from some of the entitled AP'ers who'll be denied thier "right" to ride with an FP anytime they feel like it....
Had no problem last week using the FP past the time.
Used numerous FPs for several attractions in mid September & I don't think we used any of them in the scheduled time. We never had an issue.
