Awesome! I was hoping Easter was early next year. I wasn't planning a trip for like 4 years but reading all about Carsland I think my mom and I will take a quick trip down.

October 5 is the first day of Gay Days weekend. Larger than normal crowds for the weekend.

October 2nd and 5th is also Halloween Treat party night. So Disneyland closes early to regular guests those 2 days.

Christmas break is strange this year for us. Do you think it will be crazy busy if we go January 2-6? Would we be better off to wait for Spring Break the last week of March? Any help would be appreciated.

I would go January over peak Spring Break. Less closures (longer spring closures don't always fit around spring break), better atmosphere, and I think the crowds will be a little better.

Gosh, I haven't been to Disneyland in a year now and I need my fix!
We are debating on going either aug 21st-23rd or the 29th-31st.
I'll be toting around a 4.5 year old and our must is to see Fantasmic! Which is why the second dates would be a Friday.

Doesn't F! play every day in the summer? I think you might want to avoid the 29-31 since that's Labor Day weekend and the weekend of the half marathon/5K.

I'd actually pick those last dates because the first ones are right when the SoCal APs come back. And I'm not sure what the entertainment schedule is that last week because they typically shorten the hours a bit that week.

Yup. Fantasmic! is only on Friday and weekends after Aug 26th. So Friday would be the only day to see it if we choose the second dates. Disneyland just released the schedule and got me worried, cause our original plan was to do the Tuesday-Thursday at the end of the month. but with the cut in hours (8-12 vs 9-10) and no Fantasmic I'm trying to adjust our plans
With the crowd calculator, what is the difference between a 3 and 4?
Thank you guys for your input

I wouldn't rely on touring plans crowd calendar. They don't "get" the patterns associated to APs block outs. SoCal APs have been blocked since late June. They had a limited opportunity to see Carsland before they were blocked and I'm sure many decided to wait for the initial rush to die down and haven't seen it at all yet. That's where they will be heading once those block outs are lifted Aug 20.

Thank YOU for the info on the calendar. I'm going Labor Day weekend (to cheer on friends and because it's been about 16 months since my last DL visit and I 'need' a visit) and need to plan my schedule out.
I agree with 3P1P re the crowd calculator not accounting for the different APs (I forgot about that too, obviously) - but to answer your question, I doubt the untrained person could tell the difference between a 3 and a 4 - plus you have the fact that it's a guess anyway!

That's disappointing and will change our routine/schedule a bit. We're visiting Aug 25 through Aug 29 and have been during the last week in August for a few years now (the week after SoCal APs open up and the week prior to Labor Day) and DL has generally continued their summer hours and offerings through Labor Day weekend. Crowds are usually lighter that week, so I guess TDA is finally catching on that they can cut back on hours and entertainment during that time. Guess we'll have to get in our F! viewing on Saturday and Sunday for this trip and save WOC for Monday and Tuesday. We usually like to alternate nights...F!, WOC, F!, WOC.

They could still add them. I think they did the last 2 years, so keep your eyes on the calendar in the coming weeks.

Oh, absolutely. That week was just recently added to the calendar, since it's just under six weeks out. As one of those meticulous planners, I know I will be checking the schedule ad nauseum leading up to the day of our trip. It just puts a challenge into the works for PS arrangements.

Wow. I had been hoping the Mansion wouldn't go down until after Labor Day, but with Halloween time starting earlier this year and last I guess they need to get started on that overlay. At least we'll have a couple of days with both the Mansion and the JC before their downtimes.

Does anybody know if any major event/convention/gathering/whatever is going on the weekend of September 9th? I'm looking at hotels and at least one is already sold out.

I was wondering the same. I'm taking DS#1 starting the 12th, & my first choice hotel was full too. In the past this has been a good time of year to go because kids haven't been in school long so not as many parents want to pull them out.

Isn't 10/22 a Monday? And 10/26 a Friday? If you will be arriving on Sunday, 10/21, I think that will be the last day of the UEA weekend, which means crowds (but maybe lessening throughout the day, since people will be leaving to go back home). Gay Days is the first weekend in October, so it won't affect your dates at all.
