Hey all!
I am a DL newbie. We have been to WDW 5 times as a family, but this summer we are headed west!
What are your thoughts on the Anaheim Marriott Suites? Walking distance? Ever stayed there?
Any and all tips/suggestions are welcomed!
Thanks!

I stayed very recently. You can find my review and several others here. It was fine but would not be my first choice in that area unless you were really drawn to the room layout. The Crown Plaza next door is nicer and I wonder about the Hilton Homewood Suites where I've yet to stay.
My preferred hotel for a family on a longer trip is the Residence Inn but it costs more.

Hi mickeymom!
The Anaheim Marriott Suites is 1 mile from Disneyland, which is walkable, but you might want to save the walking for the park and instead take the shuttle that stops right at the front doors of the hotel. Shuttle tickets can be purchased at the hotel front desk for $4 for adults and $1 for children ages 4-11 (it's free if they are under the age of 4). It runs every half hour during the hours the park is open and the ticket is good for the whole day which is really helpful in case you want to come back to the hotel for lunch, a nap, drop off shopping purchases, etc.
Just like the name implies, all of the rooms at the Anaheim Marriott Suites are suites, perfect for a family to stay together. You can choose either a king or two double beds in the bedroom; either way, there is a double sized sofa sleeper in the living room area. There is a Starbucks in the lobby as well as a restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you go onto the hotel's website, there are various packages that include breakfast, parking, internet, and even shuttle tickets, depending on what's important to you while you are there.
It sounds like you have a great trip planned for the summer! Enjoy!!
Hi!
Right now, Marriott is not my favorite suite property or hotels in general. I like Homewood Suites, Hyatt Home, Summerfield Suites and the other suite hotels much better. We have stayed at the Wailea Marriott on Maui, a Residence Inn in Portland and a Residence Inn in Salt Lake City, rates were high, the hospitality was sterile, housekeeping was late (if at all), hotels and our rooms were located near heavy traffic areas, or busy guest areas...despite requests for quiet rooms and a pack and play for our baby daughter (glad we brought our own!!!!) We have been made to feel like a nuisance, not a guest. So, we're staying elsewhere for now.
Have a magical day!

I don't know what sort of quality or budget you like, but for me, I go for cheap, clean, and convenient location. I always stay at the Anaheim Plaza at Disney Way and Harbor. Spacious rooms with two queens or a king, fridge and microwave, and pretty well kept. The place also has a large pool, a spa, and an onsite restaurant and bar, as well as a good size gift shop that also carries travel necessities and snack food/drink items. Rates here start at $59 a night; I'm not aware of anything else within walking distance that is that cheap.
We have had the opposite experiences. We LOVE the Residence Inn Maingate on Clementine. Its like home away from home. The housekeeping staff has been great this trip, we have 3 younger girls and the like coming back to find their stuffed animals arranged. All the staff at this location have ben great. We are here about every other month. Have never had a negative experience. I do like the Hilton brands, but they are usually very sterile, don't really go out of their way.
I personally haven't stayed at the suites, but my brother did love their breakfast, and plenty of room!
Planning 3 trips at once...
While I'm looking forward to trying the local Hilton Homewood Suites, I think it's not always useful to compare hotels in the same chain or brand, especially when they are that distant in location or in major urban areas. I certainly can't recommend (or discommend) a hotel I haven't stayed at. I didn't care for the Wailea Marriott but then again, I don't visit Maui often these days and would probably want to check reviews of it again if we decided to take a trip to Wailea. My husband has never met a Residence Inn he didn't like; I generally think they are okay.
The one in Garden Grove has appeared very crowded and busy to me when I've been in; whereas the one Malcon10t and I recommended, on Clementine, has a totally different type of construction (more townhome style than a tower so there are fewer issues with traffic and noise). We've really enjoyed our stays there and our visits to friends. It has a lot to recommend it. Having actually stayed at both hotels, I don't have any problem identifying that Residence Inn as more generally appealing to me when I'm traveling to the Disneyland area with a group but every family knows their own needs best. The Marriott Suites were certainly okay, just not my favorite.

Mickeymom ... I just got this on Priceline for this next Sunday at $55 / night! The reviews I've read are good ... not glamorous, but big, comfy, clean.
I first bid Disneyland North 3 1/2 stars for $45 -- rejected
Lowered rating to 3 stars and raised price to $50 -- rejected
Added Disneyland South for $55 and got it.
Next time, I'd start with South at $40 I think.
