Any experiences with Lake Buena Vista Palace?
DH found out today where his meetings for his conference will be in October....Lake Buena Vista Palace in Downtown Disney! According to their website they have shuttles to all the parks and are across the street from DTD. Other reviews have said the shuttles are every half hour (not sure when they start/stop) and they are closer to DTD than Sarasota Springs (though you have to cross a busy street).
Have any Padders stayed there? Any tips, tricks, suggestions?

i did many many years ago. i went with a friend, her sister and 2 of my nieces. since we were 5 the travel agent put us there. then i found out we didnt qualify for the extra magic hours, at the time the kids 7 & 9 were disappointed with the game room, they liked the pool...a quiet pool with no theme...and the buses were not that frequent. so i would call disney and the resort directly and ask tons of questions....it has been renovated since my visit...and was ok since we had 5...but will stay with disney resorts from now on

We don't have the option of staying with Disney. The union is paying for it and picks the hotel. Plus that's where his meetings are so I'm okay with that. I got the DTD resort shuttle schedule, and they start about an hour prior to park opening running every half hour until 1-2 hours after closing. I think the shuttle system has improved since you were there. It'll just be me and DH (and he will be in meetings from 8-4/5).

I don't have any suggestions regarding the hotel, but thought I would throw out there that one of my favorite Disney memories was a trip that I took when my husband had obligations during the day. Instead of going to the theme parks by myself I spent one day at River Country (okay, so that's not an option for you) and a second day touring the hotels, walking the grounds, visiting their pools (though not swimming since I wasn't a guest). It was a really relaxing day and even though it was ages ago I still feel that I have a better understanding of a lot of the Disney resorts than I would if I hadn't taken my day-trips to visit them.

Disney isn't about the rides for me, so a kid free trip wandering the world sounds heavenly. Add Food & Wine.... I definitely want to check out the resorts, and do all the things that the kids wouldn't be interested in.

Hello, I seen your post on the previous thread- but I have not actually stayed a night at Lake Buena Vista before... I have however, spent the evening there at the Resort Spa, Lounge, and Outback Steak House (Which is located inside the resort). The food is excellent (A little pricey though). I thought the hotel was beautiful and very modern, and this was back in 2008! I was living in Disney for the Disney College Program and my Uncle was staying at LBP and booked the Spa day for me for Christmas. So overall, it seemed like a beautiful resort and I'm looking forward to checking in on August 11th! I can let you know more then!
