For a first timer especially - I recommend getting a little passport (free) that they've had the last couple of years (I'm assuming they will again this year) that lists all the items at each booth, with rooms for a stamp from that booth (nifty!) and also where you can identify what you tried. We try to put a note also, what did we like, not like, etc and then also a rating. We do check-plus-minus, with checkplus and checkminus being options (so really a 1-5 scale) and also a $ if it was a good deal. I need to pull out the ones from the last couple of years and compare to this years list to see what are on the 'must must' try list.

I have to get with my sister for a final decision (plus than the luck of the phone systems on registration day) but I'm hoping for at least the beer and food pairing in Italy. I think they had it last year, but on a day we couldn't participate, or else we decided to do something else instead.

Florida Local was there in 2006 I believe. Pretty much the same dishes as then too!

I like Merguez sausage (it's in one of the Morocco choices) but I make a dish with at home all the time.

Oh well. I guess you'll finally get your snails if you want them!

Yes I will! Although, knowing my luck, they won't be good.

Speaking of dishes that aren't good everyone, do NOT eat the Beef Rendang. Only dish we threw out.

LOL. I really enjoyed it two years ago. But fibrous shredded young coconut isn't for everyone!

My one and only ever F&W disaster was the Singapore Sling at that same booth last year. Epic service FAIL! Oh well, it made for a good story.

Fibrous ANYTHING sounds unappetizing, as much as I love coconut....

It's the way it's cooked. It reminds me a little as Szechuan dry fried beef, which isn't uncommon at restaurants that serve Szechuan style Chinese food. I love that, too.

    Sorry. My bad.

It's beef slowly caramelized in coconut milk and other stuff with a lot of spices until it's got an unusual texture. *I* like it. But if you don't know what it is, I think it would come as quite a surprise.

It can't be that bad if it's stayed on the menu, can it?

Lol okay I get it now. I like coconut, but I guess we weren't expecting the sweetness. And yes the texture was very unusual. Not my cup of tea, but I will try anything once.

I did wish it had come with more rice and less meat. I found it very spicy and needed more starch.

Well, parents and I will be there for a whole week, so are going to go for 6 day tickets instead of 4, as it's only $20 more. My brother has a PAP, so he's covered already. Considering whether I want to get an AP now, too...

Does your brother have a Tables in Wonderland card? APs and Florida Residents are allowed to buy them, and it gets you 20% off food AND DRINK (including adult drinks) at most table service and some counter service restaurants.

AND I think the seminars (I haven't gone to look if they're published yet) have a small discount for TIW or APs. (They only charge for those to make the lines managable - before they started charging, you had to invest a lot of time standing in line for the seminars.)

Oh, and if you get an annual pass (the 'regular' annual pass at WDW gets you into the 4 parks 365 days, premium adds the water parks, premiere adds the California parks) it is almost guaranteed to burn a hole in your pocket, wanting to be used again!

He does have the TIW card, bought it last time. Didn't know it was good for any counter service places. Good to know. Well, before his last trip, which was this past weekend! I told him there is no way for him to catch up with me, since I worked MK for most of 8 months almost every day...

Very limited number of counter service - basically where there's not a table service option (at the resorts) and maybe Animal Kingdom (I've yet to totally figure it out there - because of the operating partner thing)

Interesting. Will have to look for an updated list right before we go in September, a mere 7 weeks away!

I know for sure that you can use the IW card at the Flame Tree BBQ in DAK - one of the best quick serve places on property!

He is whizzing around Paris in his new car, and 2 other snails spot him - "Wow", the one says to the other, "look at that S-car go!"

Made our reservations for the 2 special events we wanted this time around, with no problem (other than the 1/2 hour phone wait - at least it gave me time to wake up!)
We're doing Sweet Sunday on November 4 and the Food & Beer pairing in Italy on the 6th.
We may do some seminars, too - but are going to wait until things calm down a little and decide more based on schedule, since nothing jumped out at me (other than a winery less than an hour from where we grew up - if it had been the brewery that we saw last year, I'd jump on that, but I can get this winery's more popular products here (Sokol-Blosser)).
