What DL Hotel Has Best Views?

I have another thread on here about a romantic getaway for two Marines. Since they are both in Afghanistan right now, I am doing some research on this end.
He wants to get a room with a view of the park, but she has always thought of the DL Hotel as 'real' Disney! So I need help from you guys as to what hotel/room section to get a nice view!
This will be for early September (if that makes a difference).

The Theme Park View rooms at Paradise Pier are my favorite. They all have great views of DCA which at night has great lighting and WoC going on. Overall though it's my least favorite of the three hotels, and far behind the other two.

GCH has some great views into DCA, but some are obscured by trees and some you see trees not the attractions, though a part of the theme park view rooms are really nice, though they are daytime views when you may not be in the room.

The midlevel pool views at DLH are nice, not too high or low but seeing the Monorail Slides in the middle is pretty cool. The DLH park view rooms are ok, but can be mostly rooftops and angled into DL. You mostly see DCA from those themepark views.

thanks. he was kind of thinking GCH and i would hate for him to plan on a great view and then only see trees!

Don't forget about the noise level, as well -- my sister's room at GCH was right across from GRR, which was a great view (trees, river, Grizzly Peak, etc.), but she said the constant screaming as rafts went over the last drop was really getting on her nerves by the end of her stay. Listening to repetitive screaming doesn't sound romantic to me!

We always get a theme park view at the GCH. The screaming never is an issue with us because we tend to be back in the room after the park has closed. So nice to sit on the balcony and enjoy the evening lights after a long day. Also in the early morning with our paper and coffee.

Granted I get a discounted room at GCH but once we had the DTD rooms and the music was not my cup of tea.....so I always request a courtyard view of the monorail track. Most people don't like this of course but with the energy and noise of the park sitting on the balcony with room service and wine in the afternoon with the gentle hum of the MONORAIL about every ten minutes is my idea of a vacation. It is an oasis. I also spend a lot of time by the pool so that makes the quiet needed too. To me that is romantic....but not a view.....

We stayed on a very high floor at the Paradise Pier Hotel and had an AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME view of DCA. I really loved it there. It was a splurge for us since we stayed there for my first half marathon ever. That stay will always be a special one. I have the view on my Iphone. I will try to post it....

Now THAT is a great view!!! I am going to tell him about all these things so that he can make a good decision! I truly don't think they'd care about screaming, etc.
The feeling I am getting is that he wants to be looking out the window at the beautiful view and propose to her!

Frankly, none of the hotels offer a view of DL park that can be compared to the views into DCA. As you just saw, the views into DCA from high floors, park side of the Paradise Pier are impressive, and cost way less than park view rooms at the Grand. The view at night is BEAUTIFUL!

Being thankful for the gift of time.

There are always AP/Military discounts for the on property hotels, some times it's better than others, you just have to check when it gets closer. Be warned that the first night of the reservation is due upon MAKING the reservation.

We stay at DLH often with a DTD view. While it's nice to see the fireworks, the view itself isn't that impressive. Even so, it's our favorite place to stay on property. My favorite views have been from the GCH and PPH. Once is a very exciting view (DCA) and the other is a more wild serene view (trees and Grizzly River).

Wow that's cool, and it'd be SO COOL at night!!! I've never been interested in staying there, but we did stay there several years before C A was built (when it was the Pan Pacific); now I might have to figure out a way someday...sigh...

And to be specific, this was the top floor, second suite from the end of the building (Katella side). I'm not sure if there are any standard rooms on this floor that aren't booked for concierge.

I do think that Floors 12 - 14 theme park side are the dedicated concierge room (though you can add concierge sometimes to any room and also not all the rooms on that floor are concierge). I did stay on the 8th floor last year and while not as high obviously the view (booked as a theme park view room) was still fabulous too. In fact we had a room near the midsection (right off the glass elevator) and the room had great angles on two sides, so you could see into DTD and DL.

We stayed at Paradise Pier in Sept, on the 10th floor (I think?). We had a great view of DCA. One nice thing is that they play the music for WOC on closed circuit tv, so you can watch and listen from your room. Granted, it's not as cool as watching it down in the park, but it is a nice option. (It worked great for us because we could put our daughter to bed, but still enjoy the show since we had already seen it before.) Here is a picture at night...

PS This is during Cars Land construction, so that area is not lit up at all, but you can see the rest of DCA...

We have also stayed at DLH where we could see the fireworks show. Not as good as a view of the park, but just another thought...

In 2010 we stayed at the PPH and we got upgraded and loved our room. We were in room 1012 and I thought it was a great view of WOC. Now the room has 2 beds and a sofabed so it might be too big for them. Here was my pic

In 2009 we stayed at the Grand and loved it. Also got upgraded (free) and while we were far from the elevator to view of downtown disney and the fireworks at DL made up for it. We saw the whole show (besides the low ones). I can't recall the room number but it also was a room with lots of beds/bunkbed.March2009 014.jpg

We stayed at PPH in December of 2002 ... I will NEVER forget that view! We arrived after dark, and were exhausted. We got into the room, tipped the bellman, kicked off the shoes and wandered over to the window. I casually pulled open the curtains and GASPED audibly. Paradise Pier was RIGHT THERE, all lit up and breathtaking. I can still remember that feeling when I opened the curtains. And almost as great was the view in the morning as the park was coming to life. I remember my then 3 1/2 yr old waking up and dragging a chair over to the window to watch.

Dang, I'm staying at DLH next week in an Upper Level Premium Resort View room (it was ALL they had available -- DARN I hate it when that happens!), and I'm actually wishing it was PPH right now... But once we get there, I know I'll be thrilled!
