I changed our flights coming into Orlando coming in 10 hours earlier. Does anyone know if I need to change our car rental reservation?

You probably don't need to, but you may discover that you have to pay more depending on when your return flight is. Most car rental agencies work on 24-hour periods from when you pick up the vehicle. Unless you think the flight will change again, it is usually a good idea to let them know what the new time is. If I am running close to the 24-hour window based on my flights, I will often put the pickup time about 1/2 hour after the expected arrival, to allow myself time to deplane, collect luggage, etc before actually arriving at the rental counter. I've never had a problem if I am a few minutes before that, but I've never tried to be 10 hours early.

I would notify them for sure, and know that they might have the extra day thing depending on the 24 hour clock. You want to make sure they have the car ready for you!

My sil called to bring her reservation up 24 hours. It changed her from $225 to $900. Well as you can guess that is not happening.

This is why it's necessary to call if your pickup time for the car changes.

If you make the car rental reservation on-line there is a usually a space to complete for the airline flight # and date/time of arrival.

It's important to complete that information (to make it part of the contract) because if the airline changes the flight arrival time (but the flight # and date of arrival remain the same) or the flight is late in arriving at the destination, the car rental agency will continue to honor the reservation. Otherwise, it is expected that you will pick up/drop off the car as you contracted to do.

This is what I would do...

    1) Keep that reservation.

    2) Try everyday, every single code, on every single car rental website (probably multiple times a day) to see if I can get the new flight times at a cheaper or almost the same price.

    3) I would also see if I could try picking up the car somewhere on Disney property for the same or almost the same price (this is assuming you are staying on Disney property and can use ME).

    4) If nothing is working and you can't get something for at least another $45-$60 then I would see how taking a taxi back to the airport would work out at that time. ME could also be an option here too if it is 1 or 2 people. It would stink getting to the hotel and have to drive back again, but it could work. You could see how much earlier you could pick up the car without being charged extra. Get a confirmation of that somehow.

I know this sounds corny but with a lot of hard work you can work this out.

For sil she will take dme back the next day to get the car. For us we are going to leave it and if they don't give us the car or it is unreasonable we will do the same.

Make sure you sign up for DME, then. Technically, they're not supposed to let you just show up at the airport and get a ride, but I don't know how well/if that's enforced now.

    ^ A very good point.

Also, your sil can try a get a separate contract for a 1 day rental - from MCO and then back to MCO the next day where she can pick up the 2nd car. If the price is right, then the convenience (of not having to wait for DME buses to pick up at other resorts, or not having to make a DME reservation etc.) might be worth the price she has to pay for the 1 day rental.

ETA: If it can be done during a meal time, some savings can be achieved by stopping to eating off-site while doing the car exchange - we all know how expensive it can be to eat on-site!
