Disney inviting APs to try new "Glow with the Show" merchandise for World of Color

A new offer has popped up on the AP website. The "Annual Passholder Glow with the Show Ears Screening" of World of Color is designed to let Disney test some new merchandise technology with a large live crowd.

All participants get a free pair of the Glow with the Show ear hats.

Here are all of the details and fine print from the passholder website; you have to register in person to attend. And before everyone asks, we haven't yet heard if Disney will allow out of state / out of area passholders to RSVP by phone as they did with the Fantasmic events. I'll post as soon as I hear anything official.

Annual Passholder Glow with the Show Ears Screening

Annual Passholders, RSVP in advance for your chance to attend a private performance — after regular park closing — of World of Color.

At this special event, try out the brand new Glow with the Show Ears that interact with the World of Color performance. Complimentary ear hats will be included with the screening. Confirmed Passholders and each of their Guests must be valid Annual Passholders on the day of the event.

    Event Location

Paradise Pier in Disney California Adventure Park
    Event Time and Dates
    Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 11:45 p.m.

    • For Southern California, Deluxe, Premium and Premier Annual Passholders

    Friday, June 29, 2012 at 11:45 p.m.

    • For Deluxe, Premium and Premier Annual Passholders

    Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11:45 p.m.

    • For Premium and Premier Annual Passholders

As the private screening will be after regular park hours, all attractions, shops and restaurants will be closed during this event.

    RSVP Instructions

To register yourself and up to three (3) Annual Passholder Guests for this event:

    • Visit any open ticket booth in the Disneyland Resort Main Entrance Esplanade. Registration must occur in person at a Disneyland Resort Main Entrance Ticket Booth.
    • Present your active Annual Passport and a valid, government-issued Photo I.D. as verification of your eligibility to register for the event.
    • Based on availability, select your desired event date.
    • Upon completion of your RSVP, the Cast Member will give you a voucher, required for admission to the event. Limit one (1) voucher per eligible Annual Passholder; multiple vouchers will not be honored.

Registration will close at 11:00 p.m. (PST) on Thursday, June 21, 2012, or as soon as event capacity is reached.

Space is limited and based on availability. Be sure to register now!

Annual Passholder must be at least 18 years old to RSVP for this event, but Passholder's Guests (limited to 3 additional Annual Passholders) may be younger.
Guests under 3 years of age do not count toward the total number of Guests, do not require an Annual Passport, and will not receive a Glow with the Show Ears hat at the special event.
Each eligible Annual Passholder is limited to one (1) registration voucher. Vouchers do not guarantee admission, and multiple vouchers will not be honored. Registrations may not be modified once they are made.
Registration must occur in person at a Disneyland Resort Main Entrance Ticket Booth. Registration will close at 11:00 p.m. (PST) on Thursday, June 21, 2012, or as soon as capacity for all event dates is reached.
Confirmed Passholders and each of their Guests must be valid Annual Passholders on the day of the event. Annual Passholders may not register for or attend this event on days that their Passport is blocked out. Blockout tickets and other non-Annual Passport media will not be accepted for admission to the event. Valid government issued Photo I.D. may be required at check in.
The event is subject to change or cancellation without notice.

Wow, if the technology works, it should be a really cool addition to the show!

Considering how much I despite the way blinking balloons impair my enjoyment of Fantasmic and the fireworks, I'm not hopeful about these. I'm holding my opinion until I see it in person.

Interesting to see them acknowledging different levels of passholders.
To bad I will be in WDW and unable to participate. Just kidding, thrilled to be going to WDW again!

    BAZINGA!!!

Disney's website can't tell time/days of the week. I assume actual days would be Thurs-Sat not Fri-Sun. Thurs-Sat also lines up better with the various passholder's blackout dates.

The funny thing is that it is basically starting at midnight so they probably changed it from midnight Fri-Sun to 11:45pm Thurs-Sat to avoid confusion, then forgot to change the days of the week on their post.

    Now ... to find a babysitter ...

I'm asking Disney for a clarification - someone on Twitter just pointed out the error.

Saturday is Premium only. Fine with me. Makes me not in a rush to see the new World of Color with Brave.

Agreed. It sounds interesting in theory, but the current batch of blinking, flashing, colorful do-dads they sell now is distracting and (sometimes) disturbing enough. I really hope it doesn't turn into a migraine inducing experience.

Yea, if it's blinking stuff - I just got over my enthusiasm. I was envisioning that the whole ears were kind of opaque and would glow different colors like the ball-thingies in the show.

(At least they'll lower in the sight-lines then balloons -- BUT they are going to make people 'taller' and so it'll be harder to see easily for those who are more vertically challenged.)

Disneyland has confirmed that all registrations must take place in person this time. For you out of state / out of area folks, you might want to see if there's a local Padder who is planning to go and can add you to their party.

My thoughts exactly, LOL. But...DH will be at DLR tomorrow anyway so I think I will tell him to go ahead and RSVP our family for this one. I'm curious to see it in person too.

If it's blinking stuff, I'll be done with WOC, I'm afraid. I couldn't handle that on top of the wait.

But a little extra glow in the splash zone might be fun.

Not fun enough for an 11:45 showing, alas. I hope others have a good time!

AVP, you're quick as usual with this info! They are advertising this event with the fast passes. When I was at the FP distribution machine, I was surprised to see a long strip of paper come out that advertised the event.

^ this. I believe I read somewhere that the show actually will use the ears as part of it - so there is some computer control technology going on making the ears glow certain colors at certain times of the show. Not sure if the RF tech is custom by Disney or readily available..

but why do I have this odd feeling its like the Chumbucket control of residents of Bikini Bottom during the SpongeBob Movie.

    separate note - but
    1) how did this notice pop up for folks and
    2) whatever happened to not only the newsletter in the mail but the newsletter online.

it seems like a lot of these event link are not reachable from the standard landing page for passholders, even after you sign in. I was just wondering if I was really blind of if it was true that Disney's AP site is not managed well from a Table of Contents perspective..

I am really happy to see them split this up into separate nights. Although I am sure the premium night will be quite busy since it is a Saturday, we still plan on going. We will register tomorrow before our Cars Land Preview...

We have ours for Friday, June 29th. That said, we also have two open spots for Deluxe or Premium APers. If any of you would like to join us, who otherwise cannot RSVP for yourselves, lemme know.

If you want to go but can't get to Disneyland to RSVP, or if you've already RSVPd and don't need all four spots, here's a thread to mix and mingle:

Guest offers and requests for the World of Color "Glow with the Show" event

    Let's make some magic!

So, when I go to register, I don't need everyone in my party's AP numbers or names? I can just give mine and make a reservation for 4?
*I do understand that every member of the party must have a valid AP when we show up at the event...I'm only asking about making the reservation.

Only one of you needs to go. Your name will be added to the ticket, and it allows for up to 3 AP holder guests to go with you (don't need to provide names prior to the event night).

DH reserved our spot for Friday the 29th. But we still need to try to get another spot for DD's BFF. Hopefully we can do that with my AP when we go on Sunday. If so, I should have some extra spots to share (we only need 1 of those 4).
