Oswald hat [promotion for Epic Mickey 2 at E3]

This is sort of Disneyland related. It is Southern California related. At E3 today I picked up a Oswald Hat (with personalized name). I thought some Disney fans would be interested. I should get another one tomorrow.

    Oswald hat

What's E3? I saw that on another board. I have a nephew who is a huge fan of Oswald and wants this hat. Hopefully it will be sold in DCA since there is the Oswald Filling Station.

E3 is an electronics expo in Vegas. Lots about video games.

I read this will be sold in the parks, however Oswald's Filling Station will be where guest services is located not a retail location.

An off-shoot of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) is a trade show for the video game industry (Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, Disney Interactive, Electronic Arts, etc.) at which publishers reveal their holiday lineup. Disney was there to promote Epic Mickey 2 for the Wii and an Epic Mickey game for the 3DS.

Smorri, I've been following the coverage on Spike and G4 and have seen a grand total of zero Wii titles. Are there any other titles besides Epic Mickey 2 on the convention floor? Nintendo has really been aggressively pushing their half dozen WiiU launch titles and haven't done any press on the Wii. (And I thought the Super Nintendo launch lineup was weak.)

P.S.-Dear Disney, I soooo want that hat.

Thanks for the explanation. I did know that Oswald's wasn't retail but was just pointing out that he has a presence in the park, if in name only.

E3 has (almost) always been in Los Angeles (except for 2 years in Memphis(I believe))

Wednesday was a rush because a lot of the loot I wanted involved long waits (45 minutes for the Oswald Hat). It seemed like I saw a good amount of strait Wii titles, but to be honest, I'm mostly a PC person and didn't pay a lot of attention to them. Thinking back, the Nintendo area was all WiiU based. But individual game companies had Wii titles... I just don't remember what they were. Sorry

In the Disney area I saw a display for 'Just Dance Disney Party' for the Wii. Other Disney titles: I played 'Where's Perry' (a version of 'Where's My Water') for smart phones. Also a 'Brave' game for smart phones. There was also a different 'Brave' game for PCs (and maybe the Wii?)

The MouseAddict application is listing it as a retail shop. I don't know how accurate they are, though.

Sorry to further derail the thread, but what have you seen there that has caught your eye? And is there much "buzz" on the floor for "Watch_Dogs?" It seems to be as close as there is to a universal opinion online that it's the game of this year's convention.

Sorry to let you down again... I saw the Watch Dogs display but didn't go over to look at it. I'm an RPG and Strategy guy and both those categories were really missing this year. I guess my favorite of the show would be Neverwinter Nights. It was an action RPG, but it was easy to get into and fun. They also had great loot, so it was a win win for me.

A lot of stuff I missed because to get some of the good loot or even to play some of the games or see the presentations required spending a lot of time in line. Getting today's Oswald hat took 2 hours of standing in line.

On another note, I played the PC/Mac/Xbox and yes, Wii version of Brave. I liked it better then the smart phone/iPad game. A good game for the 8 and up crowd.

The ears are going for $70-$100 on eBay. I hope Disney makes Oswald ears available to the public, but somehow it seems like they might get more attention making the exclusive, for now.

Any info yet on whether the Oswald ears will be available at DCA or anywhere else (not counting ebay, of course) in the future?

They were giving them away to D23 members at Comic Con this year. It's been the only time I wished I were at Comic Con.

And in response to a prior discussion on this thread, Oswald's Filling Station is indeed a retail location. Guest Services is in an adjacent building.
Now different is nice, but it sure isn't pretty, pretty is what it's about
I never met anyone who was different who couldn't figure that out
But beautiful, I'd never live to see
But it was clear, if not to her, well, then to me.
    blah blah blah blah

The CMs at Oswald's Filling Station have said that they've received many requests for the Oswald ears and that they are passing these along to management. Hope the suits are listening. Maybe I will put in a request at Guest Services on our next visit. I'd buy these ears over a tire hat any day!

Per the CM at Oswald's Filling Station on 8/24/12, the Oswald ears are expected in stock in late 2012/early 2013. She also said that they are making a lot more Oswald merchandise. I know that CMs aren't always reliable on these matters, so take it for what it's worth.
Also, did you know that Target sells a lot of Oswald clothing? My son is a big Oswald fan and was very happy to find an Oswald hoodie. I've seen Oswald shirts for boy and girl babies, and for men too. Don't know how long they will be available, so share the Oswald love while you can!

Disney Parks Blog just posted this: http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/!

By the way, has anyone seen the Oswald pins (other than the open edition pin) in DCA? The Parks Blog announced the hidden mickey Oswald pin a while ago, and I've still yet to find it!

Oswald ears were spotted for sale in DCA today. We'll check it out tomorrow.

Attachment 7066Yes, we happened to be at DCA yesterday and I picked up a pair for my son. According to a cast member, yesterday was the first day they were available and they only got 1,000 of them. More should be coming in December. They cost $17.95 and seemed like nice quality to me (but this is the first "ear hat" I've bought, so what do I know?). The patch in front is nice and the ears are nice and stiff yet bendy.

Yes, they are nice. And it's a nice touch that the patch in front is red to differentiate it from the E3 ears.

Does anyone know if DCA still has the Oswald hats in stock? My DS was over-the-moon when I showed him the blog that said they were coming. I hope we don't need to wait until December to get them, LOL.

Gamestop is offering the ears as presale bonus on Epic Mickey 2 for the Wii and Epic Mickey:Power of Illusion for the 3DS. I don't know which patch it will have (though I imagine it would be the E3 Epic Mickey 2 one).

We were just there on Sunday looking for them, sold out. The CM said they would be getting more mid-december.
But I don't want to go among mad people!
