I was wondering if I could save my one-day pass that I would buy so I can purchase the dining plan?...? My hubby and I are planning a WDW trip just for the two of us. We are planning on just relaxing at the resort and eating at some of the resort restaurants and not going into the parks. I was hoping I could save our one day passes and upgrade them when we come back with the kids in 2013. Will this work? Thanks!

I would love to stroll through World Showcase with no kids...I have yet to do that. My dream is to do that during the Food and Wine Festival. Hmmm.....two "kidless" trips to WDW in one year....I wonder ....
Oops...forgot to tell you...I called Disney and asked my question. She said the ticket remains valid until I use it and then it expires 14 days after the first day I use it.
Yep, the ticket will added to your room key... just dont use it for admission and it will be good to go later. In the past, I have marked on the back of the card with a sharpie if there is admission media leftover so I know whats on what. (Especially helpful if you get a ticket with many days on it and the no expire option.)
Actually, risking a topical derail, I was sitting here wondering if a dining plan would even be worth it for a 2-person adult trip only eating at non-park eateries. I think I would be on the fence on that one considering you would have to buy the park tickets now and your future vacation plans with the kids may change. Consider inquiring about a room-only discount and run the math to see what might be best.
The search function is like the Force. It may take practice, but the more you use it, the more control you will have over it!
Adding to what GusMan said, I'd think about it/run the numbers, especially if there is any reasonable chance that when you visit with the kids you'll want to do the dining plan - because then everyone will have to have the same number of admission days, and you'll still have leftover admissions for the adults.
