Discount for Park Hopping when u don't have a Hopper ticket?

I'm looking to save $200 for my family of 4 on a 4 day trip by not getting the Hopper option. I'm not anticipating us hopping, BUT if we do, is there a discount when we show up at that second park? Thanks!

You will have to pay the hopping add on price, which is around $55 right now but will likely go up in a couple of weeks.

    ^^^ What she said.
Need to add as a reminder that even if you purchase extra days for your ticket, you can only use one of those entries per day. You cannot use more than one entry per day to "hop" without a park hopper.

Personally, I feel like the hopper option is something that adds a good amount of value through its flexibility, especially if you are going in the summer. (June, I believe?) If the cost is not in the budget, you might want to consider forgoing the rental car (discussed in the other thread) to bring overall costs down. If cost is not really the issue, then I think it may be worth considering hoppers after all.

(And no - Not trying to make this into another rental car discussion - that should stay in the other thread.)

The search function is like the Force. It may take practice, but the more you use it, the more control you will have over it!

And I believe that if you decide on your last day that you want to park hop on that day, you still have to pay the entire amount. I've never had to do that as I've always insisted (and used) a park hopper for my guests (I have an annual pass). On this last trip, my son took his family and there was a day when he did nothing but Magic Kingdom but he never thought the park hopper was a waste of money.

As much as I like having a rental car, I'd do park hopping and take the DME bus from the airport if I could only afford one or the other. Hopping is just so cool, especially if you want to spend the morning and afternoon at a park that closes early like DAK, and then hop to Epcot or the MK for the rest of the night. I would never want to be back in my hotel room watching TV cuz I didn't have the rights to go into a park for the evening!

Wait a minute here - Did I just see Dan admit to a scenario - however remote - where he WOULD take the DME?

We used to use the park hoppers when Epcot did not have enough things to do for us. We would combine Epcot and AK into one day. The past few years we have passed on the park hopper because Epcot can now take up the good part of the day (as can AK) and the rest of the time can be much needed down time for me! yea!

The park hopper is nice but certainly not worth the extra $$ (IMO) especially when your family reaches 4 or more..

Though I somewhat agree about the down time (especially with kids) if we stay at an Epcot resort again or maybe at a monorail resort we would splurge on park hoppers because of the easy access to yummy food in Epcot from our hotel.

Incredibly remote possibility! But yeah, if it was one or the other, I'd take the park hopping and give up the rental car. Fortunately I (so far) haven't had to make that sacrifice!

Our UK tickets are by default hoppers. However, I would observe we utilise this and every trip as the children get older we have used it more. Our first trip we spent most evenings at the hotel crashed, but even then we hopped several times for fireworks and evening parades. I would not go without a hopper and like Dan, I'd give up the car before the hopping option. If you like evenings at World Showcase then a hopper is a must and I can't wait till our summer Beach Club trip so I can do just this!!!

My next trip in September is a 4 night trip, with one night at the MK for fireworks and 3 nights in Epcot. Love that World Showcase at night!!!

I have read many of disnut8's trip reports and she makes every dollar do the work of two. If she recommends park hoppers, you can be assured that getting park hoppers = good value.

I think that a park hopper is a MUST line item on the budget. I, too, would take DME to afford the park hoppers. I don't care the age of the people involved or if the party is 2 or 20--I want me some park hoppers.

Working hard for that next WDW trip! December 2013
