Thread: Disneyland Announces Ticket Price Increase

  1. #426

All the people I go to Disneyland with are not renewing their passes, that would include family and friends. I won't have anyone to go with anymore. Looks like I will be forced to not renew my pass.

Not really sure why other people not having passes forces you to not have one. When I got my first AP, none of my family or circle of friends had APs. And I ended up meeting lots of people who shared my Disney interest, one of whom I married and many of whom I am very good friends with to this day.

    Laughing Pla....er....er never mind

I am in a similar situation, my family and most of my "Disney Friends" are dropping (or have dropped) their APs...it just means more solo trips for me...they are a different kind of fun from group trips but still fun; even if it's just for dinner a ride or two and some bench time

I've been getting a PAP for a couple of years now, mostly so I can go to the parks whenever I have the time/money for a vacation trip. I do have several friends in the Anaheim area that have APs as well, one of whom has decided to upgrade to a PAP from a DAP (this is starting to sound like a children's jump rope song "oh, the PAP from a DAP all the doo-dah day..") this year. He was paying an additional $150 for parking so I think it works out to his benefit to upgrade. I was debating going from the PAP to the DAP (all the doo-dah day) until I worked out the numbers for my trips I've booked for this December and next April - if I went to a DAP I'd have to either buy a 4 day pass to cover blockout days in December and a two day pass for April; or not go to the parks those days or re-book everything... long story short (too late) - I'm still better off with the PAP pass with the price increase.

DH and I are planning on going over New Year's for the first time. We have DAP's and will renew under the new price in November but I am worried about having to purchase the Block Out tickets and what that will mean for our visit.

When we purchase the BOT, do we have to do it for each seperate day or is there a way we can purchase the 3 Block Outs in advance?
Also, once we use them will we be able to hop easily using the Block out and the DAP if they close the entry gates?

Three blockouts would be $210. It would be cheaper to get PAPs. And yes, you have to get them each day. And you cna hop, but if they close the turnstiles, they are closed to everyone.

    Thats ok!

Mal- Thank you! We have some decisions to make. I am trying to convince DH to upgrade to a PAP for the year, just...because

Just to add to what Mal said (and she can correct or clarify how this works since this is "her time of year" ) I think they limit the availability of blockout tickets during super busy times so you may not be able to get them certain days.

what if you did not renew, bought multi-day, and used the value for upgrade to a new Deluxe pass? is that an option (not saying PAP is a bad option if you can afford it - just another option).

Only because I already know, but they are renewing because they have another trip in late Nov/early Dec.

Have you checked this site? http://discountticketsandtours.com/tickets/
They were mentioned earlier in this thread as a legit option for discounted APs. The link has the PAP listed at $514 (super saver price). Hope this info is helpful.

I'm in a similar position. My hubby doesn't want to renew his DAP and my stepson may not be able to afford to renew his pass (since TDA jumped the prices so steeply for DAPs and PAPs). Maybe those of us who are left solo can meet up at the parks?

Yeah, we are going the full week after Thanksgiving and then going over New Year's to hangout with a few friends Usually they are there from Christmas to New Year's and we are going to drive over for a few days.

The only place I have ever purchased my PAP/DAP is from Disney and I don't think I would be comfortable purchasing from anyone else. Maybe a Costco voucher but nothing with a "discounted ticket"
    But thanks for the link!

I can understand your hesitation. So many discount ticket vendors are shady, but if you look at the previous page of this thread ( various posts #410 - #424), you'll find that this link is an authorized seller of Disney tickets and passes and that they actually send you to a Disney link, similar to the way Costco works. Just an FYI to put your mind at ease, no matter where you buy your passes, and for anyone else who might use this info in the future. If anyone out there has actually bought their passes from this company, please report on the experience. TIA!

tea4two- I hope that didn't come off as snarky. Re-reading it now, I may have sounded a little, it wasn't meant too.
We usually just get our renewal either in the mail or do it online the date it is available to.

DH, ON HIS OWN!, figured out that it would be a benefit to upgrade for this year to a PAP. He's so smart

No worries! I just wanted to reassure you that the link does go to an authorized reseller. Over $100 savings on a PAP is certainly something worth looking in to, wherever you choose to make your purchase. And people on other boards have posted about positive experiences with this company. So, just another option for you.

I like the increases and I encourage Disney to up the price even more... Less people at the park means more enjoyment for me. Sue me, I am a selfish (bad word)...

If people are willing to pay high prices, more power to Disney. They can adjust down if needed. And I bet more than 50% of those who say they are not going to go to Disneyland... will figure out a way to go. Disney addiction... it's hard quit cold turkey.

Blackout days are about to be more enjoyable. I can't wait!
