Hi Everyone!
Does anyone have a favorite grocery store near to WDW? We will be staying at POFQ, and wanted to pick up some water, sunscreen, and maybe some non perishables. We will have a car.
Thanks for your help!

There's a new Publix on 545 just north of Lake Buena Vista. 7880 Winter Garden Vineland Road

There is also a Publix on the north side of 192 about 2 miles west of World Drive. It's very clean and will have everything you need.
Just a funny side story...
I cant remember which Publix TinaMouse and I went to one night, but boy, it was crowded at 10:45 PM. And the place was picked clean as if a hurricane was coming. In fact, I think there was more selection available when there WAS a hurricane coming! (Yes, been there - done that.)
We had a pretty good chuckle about that one.

That place was SKETCHY.....don't cha think? It was bizarre. No milk--no fruit--I can't remember which night of the week it was, though. I'm thinking mid-week, but it's a guess. We left the rest of the families back at the resort so that we'd get in and out quickly. Yeah, it was quick cuz there wasn't any food!
Seriously, we got the MUST haves for both of our families, but I was sure glad I wasn't there by myself or w/Mrs. GusMan (nothing against her--she's one of my best friends, but I was glad to have a guy along).

great! thanks everyone.
wow GusMan and TinaMouse, that must have been a surreal experience at the store!
Yes, it was! And at like 11PM, when the store was technically closed, there were still really long check-out lines and they started to shut off the lights. Yea, it got spooky kinda quick. The person checking us out was like "Yea, in a few moments, they will shut off even more lights." We loaded up the GusTruck and booked outta there.
I wont even go into the one time when I had to go to Walgreens at 11PM and found a tour bus had stopped by as well. IN-SANE!
It really destroyed my theory that I could just go get some grocery's / supplies at my leisure after a day at the parks. Learn from my fail!
Gardengrocer.com looks better and better, even with a car in my possession.

Ever since I've used Gardengrocer.com (per Gusman's recommendation)...I will never go back to a Grocery Stop. It was sooo easy and convenient. We rent a car almost every trip and the last trip I've used this site. It's so easy to use and place your order ahead of time and even go back and add any items you may have forgotten.
They come to your door for delivery or they will leave the items with the front desk. We had our's delivered to the Cabin at Fort Wilderness. Can I say how easy??? No stops on the way, just a direct drive from the airport to WDW.

It's expensive, but there is also a Gooding's supermarket in the crossroads plaza near Downtown Disney. I've been in there many times to pick up a few items.
I am NOT going to explore a US supermarket as I had planned now I've read the Gusman Tinamouse story. Back to garden grocer for me, even though booking it is a complete ball ache from the UK.

Scoobydooby said ball ache. ;-)
We love Garden Grocer too especially since we usually do not have a car to run to the store in. DFF4 brought us sodas and waters from NC last trip and all the other snacks we packed in our suitcases. However, in December we did the GG and it was great!
Gusman, you crack me up! Hopefully we will get there early enough in the day before the hoardes of Disney folks get there!
Come to think of it, Gardengrocer is sounding pretty good. Thanks to all of you for your great suggestions!
Criminy. I don't know which one it is but the Publix our car service drops us at is excellent. Clean, huge, and stocked with a wide variety of resort necessities and Disney gifts.
My only struggle is trying to find "my" flavor of Clif Bar. They seemingly carry every flavor of energy bar ever made so it always takes a while to locate "the one."
I shall have to keep my eye out for this skanky Publix, since I am fond of exploring grocery stores on vacation (all the stores in the South seem to have an entire aisle devoted to various "fry" mixes--it cracks me up). This one I think I can skip. :0
So I'm reading my bean feed...

(Read with humor) Keep in mind, the Publix Tina and I went to was not all "skanky" as much as it was just pure chaos. (I mean, its funny to make fun of the experience now...) I dont want to give the impression that it is a bad place to go. If nothing else, its just a funny story from personal experience. Mileage may vary and this sort of thing can happen pretty much anywhere.

Absolutely. That all being said, Garden Grocer was MUCH easier. The Publix that the Tiffany Town Car chose was VERY nice and well stocked. Our issue was, IMHO, the fact that they were closing and hadn't restocked the shelves yet. I guess it was probably the Publix closest to AK as that's where our families were staying.

TinaMouse and Benette, could you please tell me which Publix is the one where the town car stops? That sounds great. I'm looking forward to seeing the "fry mixes!"
For the record, my grocery store does NOT have an aisle of fry mixes.
Cathy
drewtime, I am not sure which one it was. I can tell you it was about 1/2 way between the airport and the resort, so maybe somewhere near South John Young parkway? Not sure, though.

What on earth is a fry mix?!
