I'm just about ready to make my 50th birthday ressies at Yacht Club. DH and I wanted this resort because it has Storm Along Bay and an awesome pool slide. I've checked all the sources that I know of and it looks like the pool and slide will be open 5/19-5/22. Has anyone heard or read differently?
Thanks for any input. Even if you say that you haven't seen any anything that indicates a closure.

They have been working on that pool I think? Check the recent WDW updates because I bet that's where I've read it.

Thanks for the replies. I was able to find a number to call and ask about the pool. The rep was very nice and put me on hold to check things out. She said that the pool did go thru a rehab just recently, but that they had finished and the pool was open and would not be closed any time soon. So I am good to go!
And yes, I'm such a nerd that I've been watching and rewatching a video of going down the SB pool slide. Whheeeee!!GnP

They have them for rent.

We preferred using the pool noodles since we just bought them and didn't have to rent every day. They have single and double tubes for rent.
Are the expensive to rent?
I dont recall the exact cost to rent, but it was not that bad. Whether or not it is worth it depends on how long you want to float around.
I would say that you need a float of some sort as the water depth around the lazy river is quite deep.
The search function is like the Force. It may take practice, but the more you use it, the more control you will have over it!
Unless you have enough natural floatation! It was late at night when my sister and I went a few Julys ago, and there were few people there, so we just floated along in the current for a while! It was great! Can't wait to play there again when we stay there a couple of days at the end of our trip for the Wine &Dine half!
I want to say around $10-12.
We were just there from JUne 15th-19th and there were empty tubes just floating in the lazy river. So we used some and no one said a peep. This was multiple times during busy and not busy times of day. YOu might just want to keep a look out for some un-loved empty tubes.
My family hated the slide. Although a great concept, going across the sidewalk and all. It was like a covered cooker and both my kids and my DH said the seams really hurt their backs. Plus it was so slow, they had to keep pushing themselves down. I saw this too as kids were getting scolded for not coming down one at a time. They kept telling the Lifeguards but I stopped in the middle and had to scoot down. This was repeated by many kids and adults.

I agree with the seams on the back....but we sat up once through the initial tube (figured it out after seeing most people sitting up coming out at the bottom). They must have not had enough water pumping through because we had no issues with stopping mid-slide, especially with the mid-slide waterfall.

What are the different areas to the pool apart from the slide and the lazy river? Is there a 'best spot' to make your base to access all areas?
Do you have kids in your group? If you order a kid's meal at Hurricane Hanna's, it comes in a sand bucket with a shovel. My kids loved playing with those in the beach area of Stormalong Bay. I enjoyed getting a table at Hurricane Hanna's and chillaxin!

We staked our spots by the lazy river and kiddie beach. Or if we were doing the slide we would get a spot behind the stairs of the slide and let the little ones do the small slide while we traded off going on the big slide with the big kids.
The kiddie beach and the slides are in opposite sides of the pool area.
