I had heard it before but never tried it. In 2011, when a friend paced me to my PR at the DL Half, she carried them with her. I always had calf cramping around Mile 11 and sure enough, I did then. She threw two packets at me and told me eat them - and it worked. I haven't worried too much about why because it worked, so now I always carry them with me. As for the hot dog vendor - I did worry about the taste but I found that it actually cuts the sugar taste in my mouth from the shot bloks and power aid. I kind of look forward to the mustard flavor now because my mouth gets some ick from all that sugar after awhile. (And/or I'll wait to open them when I'm near a power aid station.)

Update on my leg cramp:
I woke up Saturday and Sunday and couldn't walk across a room right away. Each day I had to really stretch out my leg and I was wobbling around. If I sat for more than 5 minutes, the whole thing started all over again.
Last night while we waited for the Post-MouseAdventure staff dinner, I threw my leg at Disneyphile's husband and he did SOMETHING to my leg. It hurt at times (I squeezed my eyes shut but didn't say a word because I KNEW it was necessarily.) This morning? I woke up and bounced out of bed (well, I never bounce out of bed ever but I got out of bed and walked across the room) without any pain or discomfort or tightness at all. Stairs still don't feel GOOD but regular walking is fine and dandy!!!!!
I'm VERY excited!!!!!

I LOVE Foam Rollers! Picked one up this weekend and after 3 days of use, my IT bands are already significantly less tight. Tomorrow will be a good endurance test for me as I am just returning to working out after my high ankle sprains. if 5 feels good tomorrow, I will be ramping up to do a 6-8-6 week next week.
Got new Saucony's yesterday. I love them! With inserts for my PF. Ran on the treadmill last night and today. A good sweat never felt so great!!!

Finally got back to weight training my upper half last Friday. Will be doing that on Wednesdays and Fridays - my non-running days. I've totally neglected my upper body while concentrating on my lower, and when I lifted my arms in the mirror last week, I noticed I resembled a flying squirrel.
Time to lose the wings!

It's treadmill season. The weather after this week will most likely be over 95 each day so it's to the gym I go. I'm just not enough of a morning person to get up even earlier to run before work, I have to get up at 6 as it is, no way I'm getting up at 5.
Did a slow 3 miles yesterday. Had a lot of issue with stiffness in both hip joints. I couldn't even walk quickly, and it never loosened, even with stretching. It was a "hormonal cramping" day for me, so I'm thinking that contributed. Do any of you ladies experience that when trying to run on those days?
