Jonathan Frid, Aka Barnabas Collins, passes away at 87
Just found out today that Jonathan Frid passed away on Friday, April 13th of natural causes. Jonathan was the original Barnabas Collins on the 1960-1970's Dark Shadows. It's ironic that he made his fame with Dark Shadows and his last acting appearance is a cameo in the new film version.

Oh this is so sad! I had the biggest crush on him when I was in middle school. What a day for him to die! Friday the 13th!
If I go down, I'm going down fat and full.

It wasn't the only Dark Shadows movie tho!!
The Tim Burton wasn't the only Dark Shadows movie that Jonathan Frid was in, there was House of Dark Shadows. When Night of Dark Shadows was finally able to begin filming, JF was already busy with other projects, so the movie centered on Quentin Collins, instead of Barnabas.
I watched the show that came on at 4 pm, on the rare occasions my mother was otherwise occupied, since she didn't let my brother and I watch it when we were kids. But many, many years later, when the SyFy Channel ran the episodes from the beginning, I was able to watch it all over again and see what I missed!
I hope now that Jonathan Frid has died and the JD-TB movie comes out next month, SyFy will start running them from the beginning again! I posted a request on Facebook and I'll be curious to see if anyone answers it from SyFy.
While I thought Barnabas was interesting, I was much more taken with David Selby's portrayal of Quentin Collins!! He's still a good looking man today!

Wow, this week I lost cultural icons who were VERY special to my youth. Jonathan Frid & Dick Clark. May they both rest in peace!
