Just wanted to say how nice it is too have a place that understands the excitement and enjoyment in all the planning and preparation for Disneyland....My family loves once we get there and all they have to do is have a good time. They don't really understand what is all behind that

I love it here too......it made me think of a lady in line at the Magic Kingdom on Easter. She was having a hard time with one of her kids and we over heard her saying "If you only knew how much time and effort went into planning this trip; your going to SMILE for my picture!!!"
I heard her loud and clear on that one!!! LOL!!!!

I've been a visitor on the board for several years now, and only recently registered.. and I am so glad I did, I've gotten some great tips on hotels, food etc (I never knew there were GARLIC FRIES in Disneyland, I'm looking forward to getting to the park tomorrow and heading over to Cafe Orleans). I get excited about the planning and preparation involved, fortunately I'm the only one I have to worry about -- but I do have friends that, when I tell them I'm taking a trip to Disneyland they just look at me and say "AGAIN?!?"
Yep, again.... I always have a great time there and embrace being the little kid again....
I also have to admit planning my next trip is what keeps me from going nuts from trip to trip.

On our last trip to WDW I wanted to see the Beauty and the Beast show since we had never seen it before. My son, who was 10 at the time, was grouchy about it. He usually isn't like that. Well, I let him have it. Told him about how I spend months planning and this is the one thing I want to do and on and on. Had him feeling pretty bad for giving me grief!
LOL...I remember that, and I've heard the phrase, "You're in the Happiest Place on Earth, so quit crying!"
Unfortunately, all that time, effort, and planning (along with doing the "Disneyland Death March" from opening to closing a couple days in a row) takes a toll on everyone. Trying to see and do it all in a short time, to maximize the trip, can backfire (and that's even more true at WDW since it's so much larger). People (especially little kids) can get so wiped out, and then it's frustrating to not have the trip live up to the anticipation because someone's cranky.
A little looser schedule, and some down time, is not a bad thing...

I heard a discussion on the radio about a study some physiologists did. I don't remember the details like what kinds of things they did to do measurements, but these psychologists studied happiness and vacations and found that most people actually enjoyed planning for and anticipating their vacation much more than the actual vacation.
Interesting. I always have the goal of exceeding my expectations while I'm on the vacation...
Spell check changed phychologists to physiologists, but hopefully it was clear I didn't mean physiologists.
Thinking about it, in the discussion the phychologists focused on the anticipation of the vacation as being the real enjoyment. People liked that much more than the actual vacation. I think I just added the part about planning, that wasn't in the discussion I heard, I don't think.
Aside from my BF who gives me tons of tips, this board is a great place to get tips and advice and be in the know before the general masses.
I love planning a trip but really enjoy my trips much more than all the planning. We are heading to WDW in June and I have planned some down time for the family and since we have teenagers, hopefully there will be less park meltdown.

That's funny, cause just the other day the girls were being petty and arguing in the back seat of the Pick up and I said "When we get to disneyland there better not be any fighting! I swear if you fight at the Happiest Place on Earth, your going to be in deep trouble." Then dh started to laugh!
