First time. Sheltered. Not seen a lot.

NUMBER ONE ADVICE: Take it slow. Easier to do in DLR now with Fast Passes. Get Fast Passes. Stop and listen to Music. BILLY HILL is a must and always a high light for first time visitors. Plaza Inn Character Breakfast is fun. I think the food is not good at DLR so I always make reservations at the sit down restaurants.....CARNATION CAFE, CAFE ORLEANS, BLUE BAYOU in DL and TRATTORIA and soon to be CARTHAY CIRCLE in DCA. At least the food is brought to you hot and the sitting down is so nice. RIde the MAIN ST. Vehicles up and down. IF you have some extra $$$$ The Fantasmic priority seating is fantastic to avoid the crowd and worth it for first timers. The parade is the best in years. SHe will have a ball!

I was thinking of leaving on the 15th right after the walk will that work? I'm use to summer crowds will this compare to that?

My experience last year with the crowds would put UEA ahead of the CHOC Walk for numbers and density. CHOC Walk weekend was busy, especially after the walk when everyone went into DL, but UEA was insane. We had Fantasmic! VIP Seating for the Saturday of UEA, and NOS was so crowded I couldn't even get to the restroom by the train station. It was like trying to maneuver on Main Street on NYE! We're used to avoiding the crowds, so watching all the people (even CMs were commenting on how surprised they were by the size of the crowds) was amazing.

The night before CHOC walk we were in NOS during Fantasmic trying to get to HMH. Boy was that a mistake! Talk about having a panic attack! Me being in a scooter was absolutely claustrophobic!

    Halloween Party Qs

Hello! I am debating whether to go to Disneyland in early or late Oct. The one thing I am afraid of is CROWDS.. How is the Halloween Party? Are the rides in operation during this time? Is it everyday? And are the parties busier in early October or late October? What can I expect in terms of crowds, is it comparable to summertime? Sorry so many Q's, but all my plans got changed and I'm in a mad scramble to pick new dates! Thank you in advance everyone!

    All the rides are open.
The parties are 2 days a week, weekend parties are busier. Along with the first party and the one on Halloween.
It's a lot of fun, we really enjoyed it.
Crowds are a little less than summer: both on the parks during the day and at the parties.

    Halloween Party Qs

The first week or two if Oct. is fall break for schools in AZ. We have not been during that time but have many friends that have and they always say it was really crowded. So you may want to avoid those first couple of weeks.

You might want to do a MP search for Mickey's Halloween Party (specifically look for DL, not WDW) to look at some reviews of the party. CStephens has a detailed trip report on the party from 2 years ago, when it moved from DCA to DL. We found the parties last year to be more crowded than the year before because Disney is advertising them more, word of mouth is spreading, and DL increased the amount of tickets sold for each party. We've been to sold out parties (very crowded -- not like NYE, but more like a busy day in summer) and not sold out parties (much less congested). The parties are fun, but you might want to look at a few threads just to make sure they'll be a good fit for you and your family.
