    Tony's Town Square

Can anyone give me some feedback from eating at Tony's? We (me, my mother, DH and two DS who will be 4) will be going to MK in October for MNSSHP, and we'd like to eat right in the park. We'd rather not eat a QS meal for dinner. I know our choices are limited, but Tony's doesn't look too bad - has anyone eaten there? What did you like? If you'd never go back, why? Thanks for any input!

In short - Ive had better Italian meal's at Olive Garden or Fazoli's. Some like it, though. Food was not bad, but just not worth the prices.
I think it would be my last TS choice in the MK. I would rather go to the Plaza at the end of Main Street for a non-character TS meal.

I looked at the Plaza too. It's really between those two. We don't want a buffet or family-style. I was just wondering about the Plaza because it seems more like a good place for lunch, but not really dinner...

The Plaza is more casual fare, but also the prices are cheaper too. We actually really enjoyed our meal there last time (a dinner) and havent been able to get back in since.

I think many people choose some of the dining options over at the nearby resorts when MK choices dont suit them. I know for us, when we have done the party, we would go dinner early at a resort and then to the parks around 5 or 6 at the latest. That way, once we get there, we just partake in the activities instead of dining. Just a thought.

This is reason number one why I can't wait for the refurbished Fantasyland: the new Be Our Guest restaurant. The MK has needed a new sit-down restaurant for a long time, and could probably use yet another one; it's a shame they can't build a Blue Bayou type restaurant in the Orlando version of Pirates -- that would be cool!

    1999 - Coronado Springs (1 night); 2003 - DL's Paradise Pier (5 nights); 2005 - All Star Music (7 nights); 2007 - POP Century (10 nights); 2008 - DL's Paradise Pier (5 nights); 2009 - POP Century (10 nights); 2010 - Dolphin (2 nights); 2011 - POP Century (7 nights); June 8-18, 2012 - POFQ (10 nights); next trip,June 18-22, 2013 - POFQ (5 nights). If I'm not at Walt Disney World or Disneyland, I'm not really happy.

Improving the menu and food at Tony's would also help. I mean, Italian food is just not that complicated. I don't understand why it can't be better. I like Tony's location and my kids would love the theming but I'm not willing to pay Tony's prices for Italian food that is mediocre at best. Imagine how popular Tony's would be if they actually served good food!

I end up going to a nearby resort instead of staying in MK for meals now--The Wave, Kona Cafe, Grand Floridian Cafe--all good choices. If I HAVE to stay in the park, I usually go Plaza.

Working hard for that next WDW trip! December 2013

We are still considering going to a resort for dinner, but I really wanted to stay right at the park. We are going to spend the morning there, head back to hotel for nap/rest and then go back for party. For what it's going to cost for party tickets, I really wanted to stay inside the MK if possible. Sounds like Tony's may not be the right choice for us

We are trying Tony's again the night of our Halloween party in October. It's not that we are big fans, we just want to stay in the park and have done Crystal Palace, Plaza Inn and Liberty Tree Tavern numerous times before and we haven't eaten at Tony's since 2004.

Location and theming great! Food and prices no bueno! The food is not good and too expensive. We tried and wouldn't go back. We go to near by resorts or just eat QS when at the MK. Or the Plaza, but that is usually a character breakfast for us. Or I end up having like 3 Mickey Pretzels.

Actually, if you have a pretzel, a cup of cheese, a fruit smoothie, and a Mickey ice cream bar, you have most of the food groups represented. Thats pretty balanced.

A cup of cheese. Really? That's made me go a bit funny. Not in a good way. I think a big expanse of water just got in my way of understanding!

I was given similar advice (going to a nearby resort) - we chose The Whispering Canyon Cafe. I haven't gone yet, but I can tell you how it was when we get back.

I think GusMan is talking about the little tub of cheese you can get to dip the soft pretzels in. But I wouldn't have called that a cup of cheese - so maybe he means something else.

And I say dole whip float instead of a smoothie, GusMan!

MMLover - what about just getting dinner before you get all the way back to the park after your break? You wouldn't be LEAVING the MK, because you wouldn't have gotten there yet.

Yep... referring to that little tub of cheese that you get for dipping pretzels. (Yes, I know that is about the furthest thing from real cheese - hence the irony.) And you are so right that I should have included a Dole Whip - after all, its real fruit juice! (Get the float for even more juicy goodness!)

I just don't know what's going on at Tony's. We dined there in 2006 for the MNSSHP and it was fabulous! The last 2x we dined there recently, it was not good at all. The menu has since changed and the food isn't as good. Now, I did dine there last in 2010...so hopefully they have improved.

Funny part is that I think with very few exceptions, every eatery has its good and bad days. Then again, what I consider good, others might consider mediocre and vice-versa.

You know, I went to Tony's last year and I didn't think it was bad! I had a nice seat in the patio area and watched the parade too! I had the chicken parm and it was just fine. Not as good as Via Napoli but not disappointing at all. Agree with GusMan above!

Our last dining experience, the waiter actually said to us; "You chose here to dine? What a shame." and the food, was very disappointing. This was 2010. Tell me that they've picked it up since. That would be good news!

We had dinner at Tony's in February 2011, and we had a lovely time. We thought the food was good, and our waiter was wonderful. We'd definitely go back again.

    Good thing, too.

Now that is good news. I just love the atmosphere of Tonys. So, maybe we will give it another go around.

The best Italian food on WDW property is hands down Tuttu Italia! Unfortunately it is in refurb currently.

Actually, if I had to give the award for best Italian cuisine on WDW property, I'd give it to Il Mulino. But that's a subjective award to give. To each his own. I think Tutto Italia is probably best theme park Italian food.

True it is subjective and I meant to say IMO. And darn it, even spelled one of my favortites wrong. DUH CBFETT! Tutto Italia. I do like Il Mulino as a close second for Italian food at WDW.
