Castaway Cay 5K - Race Report

While I was on the Fantasy last weekend, I did the Castaway Cay 5K. It's a casual run on the island, which has become more organized recently. I posted my race report in my MousePad blog. I'm hopeful that it might morph to give medals more like the other runDisney 5K races, but for now it's nice to have the option.

Has anyone else done this race before? What was your experience?

Steph and I talked briefly abut this on the island after the race, but thought I'd share my thoughts here...

I think the race bibs and medallions that they award finishers for the race are terrific! I did the Castaway Cay 5K twice last June and got...the satisfaction of finishing the course. It was such a letdown and decidedly not magical (and I told guest services so, politely). I'm glad that Disney has stepped it up and made this a much more 'official' option, perhaps due to Run Disney's new involvement...

I have never heard of this, but I am running my first ever 5k this June and I'm going on the Dream next May...perhaps I can get involved if it's on! (That's if the beach isn't just too inviting)...

Lottie, the Castaway 5K is first thing in the morning, so you'll have plenty of time to enjoy the beach!

I commented on Steph's Blog, and I thought I would chime in here...
As someone who just started considering doing something like this, the CC5K sounds like a great beginning event to "give it a shot" without a lot of extra pressure or costs normally associated with such an event. (Other than the cost of the cruise, that is...)

So, I guess I have 2 months to get ready.

The search function is like the Force. It may take practice, but the more you use it, the more control you will have over it!

    Yeah, GusMan!

We were some of the first people off the ship, and I was done before many people had even reached the beach yet. As Mary said, you'll still have plenty of time to relax and enjoy your post-run beach time.
