PhotoPass prices going up next week.

TouringPlans.com tweeted this a few moments ago: Link

The cost of buying a Photopass PhotoCD from the Walt Disney World Resort will go up to $169.95 starting on March 21, 2012. The current price of a Photopass CD is $149.95 if purchased after a visit to Walt Disney World.

To side-step the price hike, Disney offers a pre-arrival Photopass PhotoCD package for $99.95 via its website: http://disneyphotopass.com/previsitoffer.aspx The pre-arrival package price will go up on March 21, as well, to a yet unreleased price point,
Guess what I plan on doing right now.... pre-order my CD for my next trip!

    Off to pre-order!

I know everyone says that there is no limit on pictures, but what if you are going with about 70 people? The number of photos can add up pretty quickly. Will they hit a limit?

Thank you for posting this information and the link to pre order! We are going in June and I am going to try to pre order before the price hike.

Is this only for WDW? and not DisneyLand resort? We are headed to California in July and if the price is going to go up there as well, I wanted to prepurchase. I have looked thru the link at touringplans but did not find anything that mentioned Disneyland.

OUCH! While that is a big jump, it sure hasn't changed in a few years, has it?

Working hard for that next WDW trip! December 2013

I know of several people who have done "shares" in the past. Some rather large shares. No one has reported a limit.

I know that between the actual pics and the ones edited afterward, our pictures have added up to nearly 800 from time to time. I mean - we really go crazy with it. We hit nearly every Photog we see - especially if there is no line.

I've read that they will give you all your photos for that one price, even if they physically have to put it on multiple physical CDs.

The DL CDs have been cheaper than WDW ones, but I'd be shocked if they didn't go up in price, too.

So I forgot to ask. How does the pre purchase work exactly? I have never done one and have only purchased a pic or two on previous trips. Since this is one of our last trips as a whole family before DS goes into AF, I really want the CD. Do they give you a code or something? Is there a limit as to how far out you can pre purchase?

    Its really easy.

Open up a photopass account online, if you dont have one already.
    Make the cd pre-purchase.
They put that purchase on your account.

Go on vaca - get tons of pictures taken.
Go home - edit all those pictures till your hearts content.
Order CD using the credit on your account.

I think the only thing you have to pay for when you order the actual CD is shipping.

There is no prepurchase available (discount or reg price) for DL.

And if there is any discount code for the CDs when you order they'll still take it off your order. For example, we preordered ours. Then when we ordered the CD there was a 10% off promo. It covered the shipping and I know some people used the additional credit for other items.

I am going to pre-order for my dance studio trip. We have about 25 families going. If I get at least 10 families it is worth it!

    What would you do?

Just get 1 pre-order and hope they don't put a limit on our pictures,

    or

Get 2 just to be safe!

Being thankful for the gift of time.

I've had over 800 files and it came on 2 cd's for one price, umlimited means unlimited. You just have to remember to not have anyone register a card on their own because you can't combine them after they are uploaded to multiple accounts. You can however register as many cards on one account as you want. Keep in mind you have 30 days from the time you take the photos to upload them then 30 more to do all the edits before ordering the final cd.

As long as you are the only person who registers and then orders the CD you will be fine. Since these are all part of your group, I would look into getting a bunch of photopasses and preregistering them. You could then pass them out to the various families. I know that you were looking at something nice for the group to do. If you added a couple of dollars to the cost of the trip for each family, you could coordinate one set of CDs for everyone.

You will potentially lose 30 days to order the CD by doing that, but it would guarantee that no one else could register them before you did.

A simple meet and greet with the group at the end to get PP #'s and or pictures of the photopass numbers works well too.

FYI - the preorder site still says $99 as of a moment ago. So, if you have not done this already, you may want to (quickly) consider it.

It did go up; the pre order is now 119.95. Still a whole lot cheaper than $169.95!! Good grief!!

Also, I think the "unlimited" has a cap of 700 photos now. I read that somewhere and I will try to post that information back here when I see it in writing.

That will certainly close the loop on more than one or two families using the same photopass. I know we did around 300 with the changes that I made to the borders, captions, etc.

Actually, the supposed cap is not all that big of a deal --- until you start the editing process. We used to load them with different borders and the like since you cant do that once you get the CD. So you may have 3 or more versions of the same picture if you go crazy.

I think the last order we did had about 650 pictures in total, after editing. But we were able to squeeze two trips in the same trip, though. (less than a month apart.)

But yes, if there is a cap, the days of loading up 10+ families on a photopass share will be numbered.

I wouldn't do any editing. I wouldn't let anyone go into the account either. So I don't have to worry about that. But still, if every family takes 100 pictures then that is 2,000. I don't know if every family will actually take that much though.

I just went to the website and it still shows 'unlimited' ...I was trying to see if the CDs for the DLR increased but since I don't have a current/active photopass card I'll have to wait for someone to post that intel.

So do you need a pin code to pre-order?? I have been all over the Photopass site and there is nothing about pre-ordering any CD's.
