I left an hour and 45 minutes after I made this post, stop for a prescription and then met him at Walmart/Sam's. B took Whistler's truck home. We got drinks, snacks and lunch stuff at Walmart, gassed up at Sam's, dinner for the road at Wendy's and were on the road at 5:30, 35 miles closer than we would have been from home.

Im so excited to see Carsland! Ive seen tons and tons of pictures and You tube videos already and we watched Cars on DVD last night. Im so impressed with all the detail already!!

23 days I got an email from SW saying your trip is geting close got me so excited. I haven't flown on SW in years but we are all flying in and out of different places to meet up for our combo trip. I have a one way flight from SNA into Oakland to meet up with hubby. I really don't care where I sit what does the $10 early check in get me?

If you care if you have an aisle or window seat, the $10 early check in can help you achieve that goal. USUALLY, though, just checking in exactly 24 hours in advance of your flight will still get you one of those (though maybe not both will be available). If you wait to check in at the airport, you're highly likely to get a center seat.
On other airlines, the overhead bin space can fill up as well, but because of Southwest's free checked bag policy, it's usually not a big deal there. (If it's a heavy-business commute flight, the bins fill up faster.)

Thank you Drince88 I think I'll just try and check in 24 hrs in advance. It will be a short flight and like I said I'm flying alone and really don't mind where I sit.

Three weeks from yesterday! (it was my son's BD yesterday - no time for updates!)
STILL nervous about our one day senario and how we are going to see what we want to see, but we've been before, we'll be back again - it's just hard not to want to do it all! LOL! My hubby has a much more laid-back point of view about this visit to DLR. So, just about two weeks until we actually leave for the trip. Lots to do! Can't wait!

At home in the hills
USBurchs, we accomplished a lot. We technically had 2 days and no lines in DCA (private party day), but we still got a lot done. Take a deep breath and knowing we would be back was really helpful to relaxing and enjoying. You know how to maximize your FP uses and are a pro, you got this.
I did have to put my foot down at one point with the girls as they wanted to crisscross the parks like we tend to do when we have 5 days, but I pointed out to them that is a poor use of time when we only had one day in Disneyland. They started clustering their choices better at that point.
Have Fun and don't sweat the details.

Agree with candles71. Use your DLR skills and enjoy the day! Whenever we have limited time somewhere (at DLR or anywhere we have high expectations), I just tell myself that however limited our time may be, it is "reconnaissance" time for a future trip. That way I don't hyperventilate if we don't cover every single thing on my list -- I'll just have a much better idea of how to spend our time and what I want to see next time.

And this, in a nutshell, is why I don't like flying with Southwest - they just don't work like other airlines that I'm familiar with. I'm sure if I spent 5 minutes trying to understand the boarding process, I'd feel right at home. But for now, I just avoid SW.

12 days until the rest of our party will be there!
So excited for this trip, not just because it will be for my birthday but because I get to hang out with some of my favorite people
for a few days. We are going to have a good time!

No matter what the slider below says, 6 days from today (next Thursday) I'll be hangin' with the Mouse!!! I've already got my reservations in for both a DL and a DCA AP early entry morning. I'm not gonna get much sleep this trip, but hopefully a good time will be had!
