Has anyone ever stayed at the Hyatt in the Orlando Airport? We don't have enough DVC points to cover our last night, and we are thinking of just turning in our rental car the night before, staying there, and taking an early flight home (to Oregon, so it takes all day!) the next morning. Travelocity had a pretty good deal for it, so I am thinking seriously about it. Thoughts?

^ Yep - you can't get more convenient than that. The Hyatt in the Orlando Airport is a Hyatt Regency.
There is a Hyatt Place that is just a few miles from the airport that you may want to check out as well. All Hyatt Places are the same (basically a nice business hotel) - I have stayed at several Hyatt Places. (Then, when I accumulate enough 'points' I stay at Hyatt Regency's) Anyway, the cost of the Hyatt Place will be about 1/2 of what the Hyatt Regency is.
You may want to check that out as an alternate before making a final decision. Have a safe flight.

I've done this many times. Very nice hotel and it beats getting up at the crack of dawn to catch a early flight.

Thanks! That made the decision a lot easier! The Travelocity deal is pretty good, so turning in the rental car the night before will more than make up the difference in price between it and one a little further away.
Whew! That problem is solved! Now, if airfares would just come down about $100/person!

Another positive vote for the Hyatt in the Orlando airport...I don't know how many times I've arrived in town on a late flight or had to take an early morning one back to the West Coast, and I am always so happy to have the convenience of this wonderful hotel. It's really nice, beds are comfy, and the convenience can't be beat!

I had a coworker that had a multi-day meeting there (so he flew into Orlando, and never left the airport!) - he said the noise wasn't really an issue, but it was kind of interesting seeing the ebb and flow of the lines at security.Originally Posted by danyoung

I've had rooms in all locations of that hotel, and noise has never been an issue. I actually prefer having the interior view to look at the people coming and going.
When I lived in Virginia we would sometimes come down the night before (after work) and stay for the night and be ready to go to the Parks early the next morning.
Since living here, if I have had a fairly early flight out I would stay in gthe hbotel so as not having to fight traffic.

But I live less than 20 miles from Walt Disney World! And work there part-time.

ok, is it really weird that I am almost as excited to stay here as I am for our upcoming cruise? We are flying to Orlando the day before our cruise and decided to just stay at the airport and take the cruise shuttle the next day. I have passed thru the Orlando airport for 14 years and have always wanted to check out this hotel, now I can!
I don't think it's weird. I would totally stay there, especially with a good rate. Last time, for similar reasons, I went to a nearby mid-range property and it was fine but after waiting for the free shuttle outside (with all the stinky buses, shuttles, and taxis), I was REALLY wishing I had ponied up to stay there instead or just coughed up the extra money to stay onsite. The place I ended up at was perfectly adequate but I would have liked to have been someplace that was a little nicer, with more food options. (I was a little too focused on "free" last time, as it was an unplanned trip.)

I don't think it's weird at all. I really like that hotel because it's pretty nice and its convenience can't be beat. I go to other airports and think, "Why don't they have a Hyatt built in to this airport?" But...maybe *that* is weird!
I feel like that about the Radisson Blu hotel at Manchester Airport (UK). It's always a really great place to stay the night before we fly. A family suite is a 2 room dream, there's a pool and beauty parlour to use up the time before we sleep the day before we fly and when we wake up on 'Disney Day' it takes us 5 minutes to walk to the check in desk. Ok, we don't walk, we stand on the moving conveyor belt from the hotel lobby to the terminal door. Yep. I totally get airport hotel excitement!

Ok, nice to know that I'm not the only one who likes airport hotels! My DH is totally rolling his eyes but he does travel all the time and sees more than his fair share of airports and hotels.
My parents ALWAYS stay there on their last night in Florida (and they don't go for WDW, actually) but they fly out early to Seattle, so it's nice to leave the car the night ahead and sleep knowing all they have to do is head downstairs to security and voila! Out to the gate. They had an airport view and said it was very quiet. They LOVE having all the airport eateries and the fun Disney, Universal, SeaWorld and NASA stores in that main hall, there.

Trying to wrap this up and have ran into a few more before and after questions. Has any one stayed at the MCO'S Hyatt where you can tell me how much of a walk it is from once landed to the Hyatt? And if staying there can you still access all the MCO'S restaurants and shops without going through security? And if the Hyatt's pool really looks over the runway where you can pull up a chair at pool and just watch planes? How close are the planes to pool will they need binochulars? They got a rocking deal on rooms and want to spend some first time ever there. Thanks again..
When I lived in Virginia, often we would fly down after work and would stay in the Hyatt.
The escalators and elevators to the lobby are right next to the Security entrance/exit for gates 60 - 120.
We never even looked for the pool, as we would have dinner on arrival, breakfast in the morning, and pick up the rental car and head for the Parks.
They have two restaurants, one is lunch and dinner on the lobby level. The other is breakfast and dinner on the top floor. Access to any part of the airport outside of security is very easy, and there is a food court and some restaurants outside security.
Also, if you are spending the last night there before an early flight, the bellman will go with you and your luggage directly to the airline check-in counter.

Thank you, once they get there luggage will there be signs showing them how to get to the Hyatt? They think they will be walking in circles. Also with the boys, they love McDonalds and the girls like little shops. Will they be able to venture out to thses place's from the Hyatt without going through security or a ticket to access them? From what I remember everything is in the middle of Airport then you go through security then right to trams to plans. Am I thinking this is right? Im going off my memory and seems to be somewhat foggy so I dont want to give wrong info to a mother with kids and one is physically challenged right now. Thanks again...

Thanks Gusman for the merge. I read through it all and you answered my questions. The older kids well behavied can go out on there own in airport and get McDonalds or look through the shops while mom is in room or pool with the weaker boy. Very good to know. I did a little looking and think I found them a room for $135.00 for 1 night. I hope that's a good rate because I cant find it cheaper and she does not belong to any club or points. Were getting there. Thanks again...Am I missing anything else. The kids want a balacony with a runway view. I will look into what area that will be to ask for.
As for any discounts, see if she / her spouse's employer has any corporate agreements with Hyatt. Many times, companies will let you use corporate discount numbers to get a discount.
Rooms with specific views tend to be more expensive, and you may have to explicitly reserve such a room. That may be something else to look into.
Not sure how old the older kids are, but Im not sure allowing them walking around the airport without adult supervision is a good idea, but that is up to the parent.

Thanks Gusman, I will look into the price differences that they may face. She is a stay at home mom with the sickest child and her husband is a construction type handy man taking work where he can so I dont think they will be getting any coporate type discounts since he jumps from one job to another. As for the kids running alone in the airport, there is a 17 or maybe 18 year old girl going along to help with the 2 younger kids early teens. I call them all kids. lol The mother will stay with the one child and the 18 yr old will always stay with the 2 young kids at all times. So I think because she had to grow up so early to help, Im sure the mom will be ok with her taking the kids around the airport plus all the security guards are all over the place so even I feel better about that. I will check out the Hyatt website and maybe even call to just ask questions for her. The sick child really keeps her busy so I dont mind helping with the leg work and she did promise me to take all notes and keep the info. I give her so she can do this herself next time. Here's a question just for me I was wondering. I had read that the roof top pool is by the runway or take off?? If so, how close to the pool would the planes be? Sounds pretty cool to me.
