Service at Primetime is a hit or miss. In the last few times I have been there it looks like they are given a lot of tables and not in the same section. They should each be given 1 room so they are always around their tables. I know that they all have to maintain the same head count, but there is too much of them running around.

it's funny because I am always so "forgiving" when it comes to San Angel Inn, I know the service will be hit or miss but I will make a million excuses for them, it's just so pretty in there : )
I need to not be so negative on Prime Time, the food was really REALLY good
I just can't seem to find a table service at Hollywood Studios ( or quick service for that matter ) that I am crazy about

jmunzert - I agree that nothing stands out as a 'cant miss' at the Studios. I do wish that you'd tried to find a manager earlier, when something could still have been done. When I'm waiting on refills or change (or food or for a server to take my order) I'm not hesitant to flag down ANY passing staff and ask for them to get my server or the manager.

If you haven't been in a while, you're in for a treat. They changed their menu sometime in the past year, and the food is greatly improved! I've always had pretty good service there, too.

Cathy I really wish I had flagged someone down! that was my trip regret, it nagged at me the rest of our stay
and Dan we did go to San Angel Inn this last trip and I was very pleased with the new menu and the service was one of the best we had the entire 10 day trip! the salsa is a bit different, one kid friendly and one a little spicier, had a great kick! ( made me want a margarita to put the fire out )

And that was one of my main problems with the San Angel Inn - that the chips were Tostitos right out of the bag, and the salsa was like a bland watery tomato sauce. Now they have hot fresh chips, and the salsa as you said has more of a kick, and definitely a better flavor. I found these improvements went right across the menu, and I've now had a couple of great meals there!

Already have ADR's there for one evening during our upcoming trip. Hoping it is a decent place to catch Illuminations....we've seen it from quite a few vantage points so we are looking forward to a "new view" so-to-speak.

According to the manager, it is! I just hope your ADRs aren't for 6:00. Yes, (per same manager) people do camp out all evening there for one meal!!!

A Pirate's Life for Me
@ericles - where on the eastern shore are you? i'm in salisbury...
it's funny how people can have such different views and opinions about dining. we love dhs and usually hit 2-3 restaurants there each trip. we've had great, good, and mediocre meals. a few years back Sci-Fi had awful food, but we like the campy atmosphere so we gave it another try and really enjoyed the food that time.
since we have traveled to wdw many times and have dined in a majority of their restaurants, we know what to basically expect as far as the quality and variety of food at certain locations. we always hit a few of the signature locations and have much higher expectations for those locations.
we had a horrible experience at Narcoossee's a few years ago and will never, ever go back there again. there area few others we would pass on as well including the garden grille, crystal palace, rainforest (guess that counts), and tony's town square.
overall i think the dining at wdw has become more polarized with there being great food and service at the fine/signature restaurants and more of what i used to see as the second tier dining options feeling very "chain restaurant" (chili's, applebee's, ruby tuesday, even friendly's like) than they used to be. the recent movement of blending lunch and dinner menus seems to further reduce the variety of choices there used to be. maybe is more nostalgia when we used to have to walk to wdw in the snow, uphill, both ways, but the non signature dining options are been moving to a lower quality and higher table turn-over than i recall.

Just curious - what went wrong? I ate there for the first time about a year ago, and it was incredible on all fronts - great view, great food and great service. I'm not in any way saying you're wrong - just wondering what happened???

A Pirate's Life for Me
food poisoning. horrible, horrible food poisoning from bad mussels. the wife and i both ended up with it. kicked in about 11:30pm and we were unable to leave the room for two whole days besides the trip to the med-center for treatment.
nothing like two adults, both violently ill, for two days sharing one hotel room bathroom...
to this day there are certain smells that trigger a physical reaction from that experience.
and i agree with you. until about 11:30 that evening we thought the food, service, and view were wonderful. we learned that if you ever are served mussels where ANY are not fully opened to send it back. there were a couple we discarded for that reason during the meal.

What are the worst places to eat in WDW?
With so many excellent eating options, there is no reason to waste time or money on those that are not any good.
Of course everyone has different tastes, and one person might enjoy the very flavors that someone else dislikes.
It is also likely that someone had a bad experience at the same place where someone else had a good experience.
So the parameters of the experience are also useful.
For me the worst (besides the food court at the All Star Music) was the Character Breakfast Buffet at the Crystal Palace.
However, it was near the end of the breakfast time window, so the food had probably been out a while longer than if it had been closer to the beginning of the breakfast window.
I also felt like it was a rushed and crowded atmosphere.

Hollywood and Vine. Two bad experiences, one at lunch with characters and one dinner. Poor service. Raw beef.
Also for me Biergarten but only because I don't care for the food. Service and entertainment was great both times.
Restauamtasaurus. Just yuck.
Tusker House lunch. Empty food stations and rotten service. Only one experience there though.

I probably wouldn't go back to any place with communal dining unless I were with a party large enough to get our own table.

(Is this thread a good idea? Folks get awfully defensive when others dislike their favorite restaurants!

)
It is always good to know about other people's experiences.
Debates where people disagree can remain civil.
There are enough places that are so consistently good, that maybe trying out those where multiple people have had a bad experience is a waste of one's time and money.
I find it useful to know when a place has the tables so close together one can touch the tables on either side of their own table (excluding cases where the tables have all been placed together to accommodate one party)
I know this is a place for me to avoid.

Sadly Disney does more of this type of crowding than they should. And it's usually at otherwise really nice places like the San Angel Inn or Le Cellier.
As to those who don't like my favorites, I just have to go with my own experience. It's too bad that someone would have a bad meal at Fulton's, but I've had maybe 3 great meals in a row there, and am dining there again next week. I hope people take it all with a grain of salt, and make up their own minds as to what restaurants are worth it and which ones to avoid.

We did not like Boma at AKL, the food was just not that good and it took a long time to travel there from where we were staying at POR. Just wasn't worth the effort. We did not like the food court when we stayed at POP. The Plaza Restaurant at the MK was also a place we won't be visiting again.
