Experience: Very experienced (10th stay at this resort)

    INTRODUCTION:
This will be my annual trip to a boardwalk-view room at Disneys Boardwalk Villas Resort. So far Ive been able to secure a boardwalk view room each year despite having to wait until 7 months in advance to book. I dont like the resort well enough to have purchased points here (to get the 11-month window) but its a nice place to stay occasionally. Since the Flower Power concerts are going on, I want to be in this location and staying at Boardwalk Villas lets me save some Beach Club Villas points thats the only other placed Id stay this time of year.

My friends Pete & Judy will be here, actually arriving the weekend before I do and leaving on Sunday. My son Chris is hoping to get some time off from work to join us, and his dad Tim & friend Vince will be staying at another resort Friday & Saturday nights. So, the characters may vary from day to day, as people drift in and out of the report.

The weather this year has gone from colder than normal to disgustingly hotter than normal. It was 90 or more most of April, and its supposed to be right around 90 for this trip as well. Over the years Ive gotten spoiled to the point that its not really much fun to be sweating my way around a theme park. Hopefully we can enjoy the mornings, and Ill escape to the pool or resort room for the hottest afternoon hours.

Davy Jones is back at Epcot, performing concerts Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights. We really enjoyed him last year, and Im looking forward to seeing his shows again. Pete, Judy & I always eat at Le Cellier, so thats booked for Friday. Were also trying La Hacienda for dinner on Saturday first time for all of us. Beyond that well probably play it by ear and enjoy ourselves. I finally broke out of the dark ages and bought a Kindle, which arrived today. I plan to take it with me and might get to read by the pool to test it out!

    The plans so far are:
Thursday 5/5: Work, Drive to BWV, Join Pete & Judy
Friday 5/6: Epcot, LeCellier lunch, Davy Jones concert
Saturday 5/7: Some park, Pool, La Hacienda dinner, Davy Jones concert
Sunday 5/8: Pool, Davy Jones concert
    Monday 5/9: Drive to Work

    DAY 1 Thursday 5/5/11
    Who: Sue (52), DVC member

Plan: Work, Drive to BWV, Join Pete & Judy

Actual: I left work right before 1pm, as planned. I wasnt sure what to expect in terms of love bugs because Id heard they were terrible down around Ft Myers. They werent bad up here I do have several splats on my windshield but nothing major, and didnt run into them at all for quite a while. May & September are the seasons for them, but we never know whether itll be early or late, whether theyll come north to south or south to north, etc.

I arrived at Boardwalk just before 3 and found a fairly close parking spot in self parking. Thats probably misleading though, as the parking lot is a mile away and down a hill, so while it is one of the closest spots its still a long miserable walk when dragging stuff that includes a gallon of water. A Magical Express bus arrived and started letting people off so I hustled a bit and entered well ahead of those slowly meandering passengers. There was no wait and I was at the counter getting my keys in no time. Looking over my shoulder I saw the crowd now standing in line not many cast members were working at the moment.

My room is on the 5th floor so I headed for the elevators and down the long hallway. Im not all the way to Jelly Rolls, but Im in that last section. The studio feels warm, but looks good. The ceiling fan cools it nicely but the wind is a bit aggravating on my contact so for now I turned it back off. I do have a connecting door to a 1br villa next door so Ill hope for a nice quiet couple over there. The one disappointment is the balcony. Not only does it have a solid wall so you have no view while seated, the top railing is at least 2 FEET wide, so theres no view of the boardwalk either. I can see Spaceship Earth and the Yacht/Beach Club big deal! Frankly Im surprised some moron hasnt put their kids on the railing, much like they were doing on the 16th floor observation area at Bay Lake Tower when it first opened!

I unpacked quickly, then called Pete & Judy. We agreed theyd be here in about 30 minutes (they checked out of here today and moved to Coronado Springs to stretch the trip a bit) and wed wander into Epcot. I sat on the balcony for a while and it was actually very comfortable out there since its real cloudy right now. When I stand I can see Boardwalk Inn and the boardwalk area on that side, but I prefer being able to look down and watch the boardwalk on this side, where all the action is at night. Its not the end of the world, but Ill try to not get this room again!

Around 4 I wandered down towards the lobby to wait for Pete & Judy to arrive. They called just as I got into the elevator, so I waited in the lobby while they made the hike from the parking lot. It was great seeing them, and I dont think theyve changed in all the years Ive known them. Judy showed me her birthday/anniversary gift (necklace/pendant) that came from Wyland Gallery downstairs, and it was really pretty. We headed towards Epcot and since Petes back has been hurting the past day or so we decided to board the waiting Friendship and ride over.

Most people getting off the boat moved really slowly we werent rushing, but most of the dawdlers ended up behind us so we had a relatively short wait to get into the park. We werent needing to do any attractions, so we wandered around World Showcase, starting with France. The weather felt great at times, and never worse than pretty good. I was shocked how busy World Showcase was, though it was busier than a Food & Wine afternoon!

In France we stopped for 3 glasses of the Vouvray from the wine store, then walked awhile, sat awhile as we drank and talked. In America we stopped briefly for the Fife and Drum, and noticed they were resetting the stage in preparation for Davy Jones tomorrow night. In Germany Judy & I went inside to get 3 more glasses of wine while Pete grabbed a table in the shade at the entrance to Sommerfest. We sat there chatting until the wine was gone, then continued on our way.

In Mexico we sat on a shady bench outside La Hacienda and people watched for a while. Pete was the first to notice this very strange family an adult woman in a Snow White dress, a young girl in a princess dress, a too-old girl in a princess dress, and another adult dressed in a Cinderella dress plus some poor guy dressed normally. We wondered if it was Halloween and we didnt know it, and of course everyone who passed these strange people were looking at them kind of funny, lol! Good thing for Pete that Judy & I left our Tinkerbell dresses at home this trip <g>.

While we were on the bench my personal cell rang while I was on the work cell, so I gave it to Pete & he talked to SB until I was free. He & Judy are going to go see him when hes the visiting team in Lehigh Valley, about an hour from their house. I think Ill be in Hilton Head then, or Id love to be there too! After I talked with SB we continued walking, and at the International Gateway Pete & Judy headed out. I decided to do another lap around the countries, but ended up only going halfway before turning around.

I needed something for dinner, but nothing was looking good. On the way out I stopped in France and hit the bakery just right. Several people were lined up cluelessly on one side (despite the sign) so I walked right up to the case on the other side, got my item, and went to a waiting cashier. They no longer have the pithiviers (almond pastry) but in that spot they have almond triangle, which looks like a turnover. I bought one, figuring Id try it for breakfast tomorrow or the next day.

After that I left the park and walked back to Boardwalk. I checked the Boardwalk Bakery but there was nothing in there for me (dont care for their sandwiches). I ran into Judy there theyd had a long wait for a boat and she was getting a sandwich for them to share at Coronado. I went inside to the Bellevue Lounge to see if they sold appetizers but they do not so I left there and put my stuff in the studio. I decided to get a chicken quesadilla at Big River Grill since it was so nice outside, but when I got down there the wait for a table outside was 60-70 minutes. No freakin way, lol!

I walked over to Yacht Club and tried the Crews Cup Lounge next to Yachtsman Steakhouse, but it was really busy in there. I continued to the Beach Club and went to Marthas Vineyard (lounge next to Cape May), where I knew they had appetizers. I ordered a glass of Riesling and the teriyaki bbq rib appetizer, using Tables in Wonderland for the check. It came to just over $20 with discount and tip. I took my wine to a booth-style seat with a table and read my Kindle for a while until the ribs arrived. The ribs were good not great, but they served as a decent dinner for tonight. There were 6 of them, so plenty for a solo as a light dinner or for a couple people to share if eating something else as well.

After finishing I walked back to the Yacht Club dock and took some pictures before riding the boat back to Boardwalk and returning to the studio. I joined the broadcast of SBs game and caught the Idol results. VERY disappointed that godawful smug Haley creature is still on the show, but agree with which one of the bottom 2 was sent home. I just wish it had been growling no-talent Haley.

I made some cappuccino and went out onto the balcony to watch the Illuminations fireworks. My view is a direct shot (from bed) of Spaceship Earth, so I have to go out there to see the fireworks. I could even hear some of the music, which was nice. Too bad they dont broadcast the soundtrack into the boardwalk view rooms.

The rest of the night was spent listening to SBs game (they won), watching General Hospital on Soap Net and going to bed. I found out Chris wont be able to make it this trip, due to him being needed at work. Its disappointing, but with the price of gas not worth making the trip for only 1 day. Other than that it was a terrific day. I wish the weather would stay like this (its going to get hot), and I love being back here and hanging out with Pete & Judy. Tomorrow were heading to Epcot since we have lunch booked at LeCellier. Tim & Vince should arrive shortly after that, then we have Davy Jones at night!

    DAY 2 Friday 5/6/11
    Who: Sue (52), DVC member

Plan: Epcot, LeCellier lunch, Davy Jones concert

Actual: I slept really well, and woke up about an hour before the alarm (set for 7). I eventually got up around 6:20 and took my shower. Now that Im living in a very old staff house in Gainesville I look forward to staying elsewhere for decent water pressure! I have very little at my house there, so to have water actually flow out straight from the shower head rather than trickle down pathetically is a real treat!

The weather report is disappointing, with possible showers this morning, probably rain this afternoon & early evening, then clearing later tonight before getting hot starting tomorrow. Some of the afternoon rain can be heavy, but hopefully anything heavy would let up before too long. Im glad I have an umbrella in my bag <g>.

I made some cappuccino and cut half of the almond triangle. It was ok nothing really great. The pithiviers were better, in my opinion. I left the room a little after 8:30 and found Pete & Judy waiting in the lobby. Theyd driven over and gotten breakfast (muffins & coffee) from the Bellevue Lounge here. I never think to go to that place, but Im not a real big muffin fan not that half an almond turnover is any healthier or lower calorie!

We walked outside to a beautiful breezy day! The boat was at the dock so we rode over to Epcot, then entered the park quickly. Wed just missed the initial rush so the path past the roses was open and once we got near the Land there wasnt any crowd. Inside it was busier, of course but it was not bad. We got fastpasses for 10:09 and then rode Living with the Land with no wait. Last month the alligator section was closed off, but now its open, with relatively few but very young gators in there. There were trays of food set out for them, which Id never seen before.

After the boat we walked over to The Seas with Nemo and rode that. I think walking through the long queue takes as long as the ride, lol! After that we watched a dolphin for a while, then went to the next Crush Turtle Talk show. This time it was cuter than the previous 2 Ive seen, but boy are those benches uncomfortable! The rows arent tiered much either, and of course we had much taller people sitting right in front of us.

Once Crush ended we walked back to the Land, and now it was cloudy. The Land was also getting busier! We were in our fastpass window so we went to Soarin, which had a very long line (did not notice the standby wait time). There was a hold up at the fastpass entrance as it was taking forever to measure the height of a child the parents wanted on the ride. I figure if it takes that long, the child isnt going to pass the 2nd check so just get out of the way and save it for next year. Your kid will survive missing it today. People behind us started giving up on waiting and entered the line, so we followed suit.

Despite the standby line being really long the fastpass line had no wait at all, which is how it should be. We stopped briefly in the hallway area and then were loaded into row 1 of the 3rd group of seats. The smells were real strong today, and it was a nice ride. Afterwards the pavilion was feeling mobbed amazing what a difference an hour makes in the morning! We went upstairs and did Circle of Life with about an 8-minute wait.

While waiting I called Tim & Vince, and they were about 20 miles away. They were in rain, too it came in from the Gulf today, following them. Pete, Judy & I got more Soarin fastpasses after we finished the ride, figuring Tim & Vince might not get to ride without them. I told Tim we had them and his response was Whats Soarin?!!!!! This man used to be married to ME???????? No wonder, were divorced, if he doesnt know what Soarin is!!! I told him it was only THE biggest attraction in Epcot, and he asked where it was, lol! I told him the Land, and he said hed ridden the boat in there <g>. I was dying, lol!

I joined Pete & Judy and soon the doors opened this movie is always enjoyable, but I seldom see it without SB because I know Ill see it whenever Im with him <g>. When we went back outside it was sprinkling lightly just enough to put up the umbrella. We walked over to Canada and checked in at LeCellier, then waited to be seated.

They took us to a table way in the back (near the restroom but behind a wall) and we were happy. As Pete said, away from screaming children. Theyd noticed so many of those earlier in their trip, generally with parents doing nothing. They have kids, and several grandkids, so theyre not child haters. Like me, maybe they hate misbehaving children, or parents who dont parent. Anyway, we were seated and our server was terrific. After wed placed our order they seated a couple with 2 young daughters at the next table, lol! But, these girls were great they colored, talked quietly, and their parents both paid attention to them and corrected them if they started to get loud or do anything wrong. It was a pleasure having them as neighbors!

Judy & I had the Chataeau St. Michelle Riesling and Pete tried some of the fabulous Canadian coke. For lunch we ordered mainly appetizers. We shared onion rings, then they shared a cup of the cheese soup. That was followed by the salmon burger for Pete, tomato stack for Judy, and bowl of cheese soup for me. Everything was excellent, although I should have stuck with just the cup of soup and Pete wasnt able to finish the burger. I forgot to take pictures even though I had the camera, so I apologize in advance.

SB called when we were almost finished, and I was shocked the phone rang down there. When I answered the signal wasnt strong enough to go through. Once we got outside I immediately had a text from Tim pop up, which had been sent while we were inside. I called SB first, and he accused us of probably stuffing our faces with cheese soup and breadsticks, lol! Next I called Tim and they were getting ready to head out. Theyd gone straight to Epcot so they didnt have their room keys (for charging) and theyd gotten a text their room was ready. I agreed to meet them by Mexico to hand off the fastpasses so I headed there while Pete & Judy left for their resort.

Once I met up with them we stood around talking I was still stunned they d never done Soarin! Since I had the 3rd fastpass I suggested if they waited until around 4 (after General Hospital) Id meet them there & ride with them. Its not often I have virgins riding <g>. They agreed, then headed towards the exit to ride back to All Star Sports to get settled and have something to eat. I called to let Pete & Judy know the change of plans (they were going to pick me up at 4:30 at Boardwalk for the walk into the park but Ill meet them at the theater).

I continued walking around the countries, having to use the umbrella again. While walking I was mulling some dvc ideas over in my mind. Earlier when talking with Pete & Judy I got to thinking that since my Beach Club Villas are stretched so thin maybe I should add some points at Boardwalk via resale to relieve that pressure. My annual dues are already so high, but I do have a few friends who seem to like to rent some of my points each year, which would cover the extra dues, so I think Ill look into it further. I have so many trips during times when something is going in at Epcot, and I cant see staying anywhere but this area Beach Club Villas or Boardwalk Villas.

When I got back to the studio I did some research on resales, and Boardwalk has really come down in price. Beach Club is still much higher, due to smaller supply and higher demand. I found a resale of interest and talked to the company, making an offer for them to relay to the seller. It may work out, or may not I am fine either way, and if its meant to be Ill eventually find the right contract.

Around 3:45 I left the resort and walked back to Epcot to meet Tim & Vince at the Land. I got there before they did and made a couple calls while waiting. When they arrived we went through the fastpass line, which by now was backed up to the corner. The standby line was 60 minutes and Id say it was at least that long. I did point out that if they were riding without a fastpass theyd be way back there! We were seated in the front row, on the extreme opposite end from this morning. When we went inside a family of 4 was still in our way the dad sitting in his seat uselessly while mom and 2 little boys looked for a lost shoe in the under seat compartment. Silly me, I thought sneakers were stored on feet not under a seat <g>. Finally they moved out of our way, after holding up the entire row.

The ride was great, and it was fun to see & hear Tim and Vinces reactions to each scene. They noticed a lot of the details, and both really enjoyed it even the parts that had them grabbing the handrails while gasping, lol! After the ride they called Chris, who also couldnt believe theyd never ridden it before. I had a couple of calls, including one from Pete & Judy who were already in the theater for the first Davy Jones concert. They said it was mobbed, and I knew we wouldnt make it back there in time to get in.

Tim, Vince & I decided to head back and get in line for the next show, so after stopping in Mexico to pick up a ring Vince had ordered we continued to America. There was already a short line for the 2nd show even though the first one hadnt started yet, lol! I sent them to the line while I stopped in Italy for a glass of prosecco. By the time I got out of there the line extended almost to the end of the railing.

We passed the time chatting and at one point a cast member came through passing out 1 card per person these cards would ensure you got into the theater, and also eliminate line cutters. Since Pete & Judy were in the theater I couldnt get them cards for the next show. We could hear the first show, and when it ended Pete & Judy found us in line. I told them about the cards so they went to the end of the line but the cards were all gone. They came back and talked to us from outside the line, then when we went in they got some wine and sat outside the counter service place in America to listen from there and get in line for the 3rd show.

Since Vince uses an electric wheelchair we sat in the back row of the front section, right in the center. The show was great another full house, and Davy spent a lot of time roaming through the audience, meeting people, shaking hands, giving kisses, dancing, etc. When on stage hes all over the place, so he plays to the entire audience. The songs in this show were a little different than the first show, but the biggies were in both. It was a great show, and both Tim & Vince really enjoyed it as well.

Afterwards I ran ahead to the line and found Pete & Judy near the front. I joined them in line and the cast member gave me a card <g>. Tim & Vince stopped by to say goodnight and then headed back to their resort. I briefed Pete & Judy on my dvc resale research, as theyre in the market to add more points (it was actually them who planted the seed). Soon we were being let into the theater, and this time sat in the 3rd row at the end next to the extended piece of the stage so Davy was frequently right next to us.

This show was also great, and there were even more new songs ones not heard before. Once again it was a full house, and the crowd loved him. He had a lot of family present, which isnt a surprise considering they get to spend time at WDW. Sure beats going to see him perform in Newark or Tulsa <g>. After the final show we detoured to Germany, where Pete & Judy split a bratwurst and I had a glass of wine. From there we walked back to Boardwalk and they drove back to Coronado Springs.

I walked through the Inn and found that quiet pool. Its not anything special, but the garden cottage suites along the way are really cute! Im sure theyre pretty pricey, too so Ill stick with dvc. I came back in and went up to my studio to catch the end of SBs game while updating the report. I finished the almond triangle along with a cup of cappuccino, and will hopefully turn in after General Hospital (missed the last half-hour earlier today).

Today was a great day, and the weather ended up being much better than it sounded on tv this morning. Its a shame Chris wasnt able to make it, but hell come for part of the Food & Wine trip. Tomorrow Pete, Judy & I will spend the morning at Animal Kingdom before getting some pool time at our respective resorts, then meet up again for Judys birthday dinner at La Hacienda (not the dive in Colorado the nice new restaurant run by San Angel Inn company at Epcot <g>) & another concert.

    DAY 3 Saturday 5/7/11
    Who: Sue (52), DVC member

Plan: Some park, Pool, La Hacienda dinner, Davy Jones concert

Actual: It was absolutely silent last night and I slept well again. SBs team won in the bottom of the 9th inning, so thankfully no extra innings! I got up around 6:30 and after showering made a cup of cappuccino. A while back I made a LeCellier lunch reservation for mid-October for Pete, Judy & us, but now Judys mom will be there too. I tried booking a reservation for 5 of us, trying every day including trying for a new date for the 4 of us after she goes home, but there is no availability (as expected if its less than 180 days before the meal). Well show up with her and most likely theyll let her eat with us well be there right at opening.

Around 8:30 I left the room to meet Pete & Judy at the front entrance. We drove over to Animal Kingdom rather than deal with the buses. I got outside before they arrived so I wandered down the hill and met them just before the road to the self parking lot. They picked me up and we were off to Animal Kingdom. There was a slight delay at the parking booths caused by someone who must have been either paying their $14 in loose change or trying to find out what time Harry Potter closed tonight <g>. Finally we got in, parked the car, and walked to the obnoxious bag check area.

The woman ahead of us had a giant backpack and a fanny pack. Inside her backpack she had a bag of already cooked microwave popcorn. How good do you think that is when its cold and stale???? She also had a small cooler underneath that, but it was the microwave popcorn that just slayed me. Of course, after the security theater person went all through the backpack they then had to ask dimwit to open her fanny pack, and THEN she stood there putting it all back together as the cast member kept taking care of people from the other side. We werent in a rush, but theres no need for such idiocy.

We entered the park with no wait, and it was just after 9 so the initial crowd had dispersed. Petes back was acting up again so I suggested they get us a table at Rainforest Caf and Id go back to Harambe with the passes to get our fastpasses for the safari. They liked that idea, and since it was still comfortable out at that point I didnt mind at all. I used the time to call a friend from work (Id missed his call last night) and was still on the phone by the time I got the fastpasses, walked back, and sat down at the table in Rainforest. I lost the signal in there, but was wrapping things up anyway.

Pete & Judy had already ordered our beverages, which were tea for Judy, a latte for Pete and ice water for me. Theyd had time to look over the menu and I knew what I was ordering, so we placed our order and enjoyed a great (but big) breakfast. The intent was breakfast and dinner, with no need for lunch, so our choices were great.

I had the French toast, Pete had the Belgian waffle, and Judy had the egg white omelet that had spinach and other nasty stuff in there. She & Pete loved it, and everyone was happy. No clean plates, though! I had a $10 reward from Rainforest Cafs Safari Club so I put that towards the check and bought breakfast for everyone. Before the credit, discount and tip it was around $38.

We re-entered the park and began the walk back to Harambe. I gave SB another call (hed called while we were eating) and broke the news about hoping to add some Boardwalk points. Its not a joint purchase (dvc is MINE and theres no reason to change that <g>) but as a courtesy I think if youre married you ought to let the other person know youre dropping that kind of money, lol! I think he may consider me slightly nuts on this, but he knows I know what Im doing. Besides, hell get to enjoy the use of some of those points!

After the call Pete, Judy & I entered the fastpass lane and I noticed the standby line was pretty congested. Sometimes you dont really need fastpasses here, but today we definitely did. Our driver was very good, and we saw a lot of animals, but it was a little odd in that some we always see werent out and others we see less often were plentiful. Some seemed to be in slightly different areas, which may be just a timing thing. Pete & Judy noticed the Wild Africa Trek stuff, so afterwards I told them about my experience on that tour.

When we finished the safari we walked the Pangani Forest Trail, where a bird dropped little gift on me. Luckily it hit skin rather than hair or clothing, and Judy wiped it off. I cant stand birds, unless theyre in a photograph <g>. Several gorillas were out so we spent some time there. We even saw a baby gorilla on the family side it was so cute! He/she looked almost like a young monkey, and its amazing how big he/she will grow by adulthood!

By now it was after 11 so we decided to head out of the park and enjoy some pool time. We meandered slowly, enjoying shade where we could find it. The park was getting much busier, and it was pretty warm in the sun! We walked back to the hot car and they dropped me off at Boardwalk then went back to Coronado Springs. Its been nice having a private driver shuttling me around!

I changed into my swimsuit, grabbed the pool/beach bag and kindle and went downstairs. As expected the main (clown) pool was busy, and not many chairs are actually in the sun. I never stay by this pool! I walked next door to the quiet pool, which is much more to my taste. I spent almost 2 hours out there, and when I turned on my kindle it came on immediately to the exact page Id been reading when I shut it off how nice!

When I came back upstairs I went to the ice machine to fill the ice bucket, then took another shower. I signed up for the next DVC webcast (disappointed they seem to be using Samantha Brown for this one instead of my friend Mary unless theyre working together). Id brought 2 of the individual wine boxes Target sells in a 4-pack, so I opened one and had some wine while updating the report and doing stuff online until it was time to meet Pete & Judy for our return to Epcot and Judys Birthday dinner. Lisa Cubbon just like Davy Jones is in his 40s, Judy is celebrating 35 now <g>.

I called DVC and booked a 1br at OKW for a couple nights during the Food & Wine trip for Tim, Vince & Chris. Itll be nice having them up here, and now Tim & Vince can compare a 1-bedroom at OKW to their rooms at All Star Sports and see how the other half lives <g>.. I was out the door after that, headed to the Boardwalk lobby to meet Pete & Judy. They arrived shortly after I did and we walked into Epcot.

We went straight to Mexico, where there was a line waiting to check in to La Hacienda. I think the people at the front of the line didnt have a reservation, and they were taking forever. Once they were gone the line moved quickly, as it should. We were seated in one of those rounded booths, and it was perfect for 3 people even though it had place settings for 4. Judy let our waiter know she didnt want the birthday singing, and they complied with her wishes.

None of us had ever been here before and we decided to go with a variety of appetizers rather than entrees. I think due to that, we didnt get any of the chips and salsa. Most other tables had it, but they also ordered entrees. I guess when youre considered low-budget you can do without <g>. We ordered a bottle of pinot grigio from Chile and it was very good. It was just enough for the 3 of us. Pete & Judy shared the salad, which they said was outstanding. It was a spinach salad, and had some pomegranite in there. I ordered the trio of tacos appetizer, and Pete did the same. Judy ordered the other trio appetizer a cheese empanada, marinated pork and a chicken tostada. Our taco trio consisted of marinated pork, ribeye and chicken.

When the food came, I was shocked how small it was, and I was glad SB wasnt here. Hed have been bitching about us crazy white people for sure, lol! What the food lacked in size it made up for in taste everything was excellent. People with bigger appetizers should order an entre, or a couple could order one of the 2 dinners for 2 (huge). We had room for dessert and should have shared one but ended up ordering 2 of the chocolate custard thing. It was very good, but I like the chocolate crme brulee at Bonefish Grill better. Pete bought dinner since it was Judys birthday dinner, and it was a really nice time thanks again Pete!

After dinner we walked over towards America and found the line for the concert extended through and almost out of Italy! Evidently some medical emergency delayed them letting people into the theater, but that didnt have an impact on the crowd size. We sat outside America and once the line started moving just waited for the end. We found seats towards the back not great, but we were there. It was a great show and another standing ovation. I think he gets more popular each year go figure.

After the show we looked at the line for the next one but it was already longer than we liked, so we decided to head out. The boat was at International Gateway so we rode it back to Boardwalk, and then sat on a bench outside for a while. They had pretty much continuous entertainment going on outside, and it was very busy there. Eventually Pete & Judy left for their resort, as they have an early morning flight tomorrow. It was great spending time with them again, and Im looking forward to October.

I decided to wander around a bit, and Tim called to say he & Vince were just entering Epcot. They were planning on heading to the UK for something to eat and I suggested he try the pub, as Carol would probably be working and they serve the fish & chips from the bar. I stopped in the candy store for a smores bar and then headed up to the studio. Once there I turned SBs game on the computer and finished up the report.

Today was another wonderful day the perfect mix of park time, time with friends, and relaxation. Tomorrow I may head to Epcot for breakfast at Seasons, will spend some time at the pool and will hopefully attend another Davy Jones concert. Itll be strange to not have Pete & Judy here!

    DAY 4 Sunday 5/8/11
    Who: Sue (52), DVC member

    Plan: Pool, Davy Jones concert

Actual: I slept well again and although I heard the kids next door briefly yesterday afternoon for the most part theyve been silent over there. I was sorry to see them checking out this morning. Further down the hall Im constantly astounded by the obnoxious noises coming from inside other rooms one had a kid making choo choo noises at the top of his lungs. What kind of moron lets this go on in a hotel where people are in the surrounding rooms?? The grand villas in particular are ridiculous there are a couple grand villas with really boisterous people in there adults and young kids. Im just glad Im in a quieter section.

I got up somewhere before 7 and got cleaned up & dressed before settling at the computer with a cup of cappuccino. Since Pete & Judy had raved about the blueberry muffin at the Bellevue Lounge I walked down there and bought one for tomorrow morning (they might not be open by the time I leave). While there I confirmed they do not sell any food in the evening.

I dropped the muffin off in the studio then went back to the lobby and went outside for the walk to Epcot. There was no wait to get into the park, and I approached the fountain shortly before the preshow got started. Rather than standing at the back of the crowd I stood in the shade behind Ice Station Cool and once the countdown finished walked inside the nice air conditioned building and joined the front of the crowd as they passed the character photo area.

In the Land they didnt have it roped off to keep everyone to the right, which means theyre expecting smaller crowds. Since I was so close to the front I skipped the fastpass and just entered the standby queue. I was in the first ride of the day, 2nd row of center section and in my seat by 9:15 or so. Once again, great ride from there I walked to Seasons and was shocked to find nobody in line at the registers or at the food stands. I got the croissant berry bread pudding and a cup of water, and had my choice of tables. Usually its busier than this.

After breakfast I decided to wander around, so I walked around Future World before browsing in Mouse Gear. They now have a new color combination for Disney Croc flip flops pink footbed with dark blue strap. Id like it better if the blue was black but its very close I like them. I dont really need another pair right now though, so I didnt buy any. Mouse Gear also wasnt too busy, but this time of day people should be doing attractions (before they get crowded).

I walked back to World Showcase and exited the park for the walk back to Boardwalk. SB called so I talked to him during the walk, then Tim called so I sat on shady chair outside Flying Fish talk with him. He & Vince were on their way to Animal Kingdom. I went back to the studio and changed into my swimsuit, then headed down to the quiet pool. As the elevator doors opened a family with 4 enthusiastic little girls were waiting to board. Now, wouldnt it make sense for parents to hold their kids back, or perhaps to teach them that when waiting for a bus or elevator you stand BACK so people can get off??? Evidently it didnt make sense to this family, and with each little girl jockeying to rush into the elevator while blocking me from leaving I stood there while mom flailed her hands uselessly and I could get around her kids. Amazing!

The quiet pool was really quiet today. Pete no family from hell either day, so I lucked out <g>. It was pretty warm, but the humidity wasnt awful and once in a while Id catch a little breeze. I read more on the kindle, and it was a nice couple of hours out there before I decided that was enough.

I figured Id be hungry before tonight, so I walked over to Boardwalk Bakery, of course arriving right behind a family using a boatload of dining plan credits for food to take home. I guess they must be driving, as theres no way a dozen or more bottles of water were getting onto an airplane! I bought a yogurt parfait for lunch, an apple blossom to take back to Gainesville, and what they call the chocolate/vanilla pretzel (but is actually just a stick) for later tonight. I then headed up to the studio to put things away and take my shower. Today is my trash & towel service day, and its disappointing they seem to do it last thing. Its almost a waste of time since Im leaving so early tomorrow morning!

I turned on SBs game and updated the report, figuring Id enjoy the a/c and listen to most of it before venturing back over to Epcot. The yogurt parfait was very good, but it would be nice to have some banana pieces in there along with the strawberry. I left just before 3:30 to walk back into Epcot.

Since Davy Jones is so popular I headed straight for America and was dismayed to see the line extended beyond the shade and was snaked around by Italy in the direct sun! The concert was not until 5:15 and the line wasnt due to move for another hour. Without getting in line I had no chance of a seat in the shade for the concert, so I joined the line. I opened an umbrella for some shade but still had sweat running down my back (this while wearing a tank-top style dress cooler than shorts/shirt or anything tight youd think). I also pulled out my kindle and finished the book Id been reading. In other words, I made the wait as pleasant as possible, but it was miserably hot!

They did let the line in early, taking pity on us I guess. I was so far back I was afraid Id get a crappy seat, but I ended up in the 4th row near the center, and definitely in the shade. It was comfortable from that point. Once again the theater was packed. The park wasnt too busy it was much less crowded than the last 3 nights, but the smaller park crowds didnt translate into smaller crowds for Davy!

The first show was the only one I hadnt seen yet, and it was very good. I really like how he involves so much of the audience, and pays attention to his fans. I could live without his wife dancing for a song each show although she does dance well. Im just not here to watch a flamenco dancer (yawn).

At one point less than halfway through the show a teen girl got up and was leaving. Davy had just started a song, but said wait a minute and ran down off the stage after her. She just about died of embarrassment he wanted to know where she was going. He said I just started a song and looked at her pitifully, lol! After asking her other questions her name where was she from, etc- he mentioned his brother was working in that town tonight as a burglar. Then he told to go ahead & go hed just go back on stage and look at her empty seat until she returned. Then he went back on stage and started the song over again, lol!

After the show I went across to America and returned SBs call. I found a few topiaries back there, and a flower & garden area Id never seen. They even had flowers in a bed get it? Flower Bed! From there I wandered around, getting a glass of prosecco in Italy and stopping in the shade between Germany & the African outpost area. Eventually I continued on to the Cantina in Mexico, where I ordered a kids chicken tender meal. As Id read in someones report, these are the real tenders not nuggets. The meal consisted of 2 large chicken tenders, multi colored tortilla chips and cup of cheese, bottle of water and a package of grapes. I dont see how any kid could eat all of this I eat more than I used to, and I was full after 1 tender and the chips. The tenders were very large!

I brought the other chicken tender and grapes back to the resort, figuring theyll probably go home to Gainesville with me. After eating I continued walking and left the park. A boat was docking as I exited and I got back to Boardwalk before I could even see it arriving. I made a quick stop at the front desk to have them settle my charges to the credit card since Id be gone before they deliver the express checkout statements in the morning.

From there I went to the studio and gathered up a load of stuff and brought it down to the car. Some of the grand villa guests had a movie blaring in their villa Ive never heard anything like these noisy people! When I got back to the studio I started uploading photos to SnapFish and packed what I could into the suitcase. I poured the other box of wine and settled down to watch tv, caption photos, and wait for my final Illuminations of the trip.

The photos should be at http://www1.snapfish.com/mypoints/fe...2%3A%22g%22%7D

Hopefully this time itll work. You should not have to sign in to see them, but sometimes I think with Snapfish the rules are random <g>.

This has been a great trip, and Im sad to see it come to an end. Yes, it was hotter than Id like and I was not thrilled my boardwalk view that didnt let me see the boardwalk below, but in every other way the trip was terrific! Its always nice hanging out with Pete & Judy, we had some great meals, great concerts, some pool time and I think I did plenty in the parks (even though I visited 2 out of 4, lol). I dont really expect to be back in the parks much until Food & Wine Festival. Ill be back in early July & early August for resort trips while my pass is blacked out and over Labor Day weekend when the pass will be good but the weather will still be miserable, so Im not sure Ill bother with the parks.

My next trip is later this month Im spending 5 nights at Disneys Hilton Head Island Resort and a childhood friend (Linda) is joining me for a few of the nights. Hopefully itll be cooler on the beach than it will be at WDW!

Thanks for the enjoyable report Sue! We were there at Spring Break (April 15-24) and Juice Newton was the act for the first weekend we were there - there was no line and we had no trouble getting seats - I thought she sounded (and looked) terrific but, oddly, she greeted all of us "out there in DisneyLAND"!?!? I wish I lived close enough to drive because I would much prefer a whole lot of short trips, like you take, to one or two long ones a year. I'm not complaining, just wishing out loud.

Always enjoyable to read a report from you Sue. I did have a question about the Boardwalk Villas. You indicate that you have been there 10 times but only like to stay there occasionally. What are your reasons for this if you don't mind me asking. We are going down for our 8th trip but first time booked at BWV. We are staying in a 1BR standard view to save on points. Travel dates are 9/8-9/13 - if you have any suggestions to make our stay more enjoyable-maybe a room request or building request- any suggestions will be awesome.
