    Polynesian torch lighting...

    Hi Everyone!

Does anyone know approximately what time the torch lighting ceremony begins at the Polynesian? Also, are guests who are staying in other hotels able to attend, or is this something only for guests of the Polynesian? I'm wondering if this is a not to be missed event, or if we should stay in the parks. I will have my two young sons with me. (10 and 7).

Also, have any of you Disney veterans viewed the fireworks from the beach? That sounds like something cool to do.

    Thanks for your help.

We happened upon it one trip. It was nice, and you didn't have to be a guest of the hotel, but I probably wouldn't leave a park to view it. If I was having dinner at the Poly, I'd try to get over a little earlier to see it, or if I was staying at the Poly and in the hotel at the time, then yes. They have one of the fire twirlers (I don't think that's the right term for the large Polynesian man, but it's descriptive) from the Luau out there, too, which I think was the highlight.

A lot of people like to watch the fireworks from the Beach, but you'd get a better view from in the parks. It's a nice option if someone is noise-adverse, or if you're not going into the park that day (and don't have park hoppers) or are just having a relaxing evening.

What a perfect answer Cathy! Thanks for the insight. I'll play it by ear--trying not to overplan

we were supposed to see Wishes via Poly beach last trip. Sadly, it didn't end up working out. Let me know if you end up doing it! I'd love to hear how it is!

We saw it last year when we stayed at the Poly. It was pretty cool, but not something you'd really miss if you didn't see it. And yes seeing Wishes and then the Water Pagent from the Poly Beach is a must do!

We watched wishes from the Poly every night. Here are the reasons...First reason is that we were staying there. All we had to do was go downstairs and walk out the door to the beach. Second, some nights were MVMCP and we did not have tickets. Third, it was too cold and we had no winter coats. Fourth, it was our first night and we weren't going into any parks.

There is nothing like watching the whole show in the MK, and if we had no reason to be at the Poly we probably would have tried harder to be in the MK for one show.
