Run keeper is based off of GPS? Hmmm.
Maybe next time have HIM turn on the coaching feature on his?
I know my Nike+ thing is off of a pedometer, so I have to calibrate it to my step - and it's not really good for people who do intervals, because your stride length is different with running and walking.

HB, how different are they? Just slightly, or very? Does he always run on the outside of you around the lake? If so, he would have a slightly longer run. I know that I can take the exact same path and it shows slightly different. I just attribute it to zig zagging and crossing the street at different areas in residential neighborhoods.

I know some of you have seen my vent on FB about the discrepancies on it between DH and I. I had to walk around the soccer field on Saturday so my RK would show I actually finished my 7 miles but DH's said he had already finished his 7 miles. We were walking the same path!! I know its minor but when your fighting with all your might to put one foot in front of the other and your work out partner gets to stop before you do, it makes one a little ANGRY!
The only difference is I use the coaching feature so I know when to walk and run and he follows me. I wonder if the coaching messes up the GPS. IDK.
It could just be a difference in your phone and something interfering with the GPS signal. I've had it be pretty far off when I had a weak signal. You can go in after the fact and adjust the route on the webpage.
It's best to turn off anything else that you won't need on your run to optimize performance and save battery. On my iPhone I turn off all push notifications, mail, 3G, wifi, and bluetooth.

I'm having the same issue and ours are significantly different. Mine shows me running THROUGH houses and teleporting my last 2 minutes from home. Also it shows that on some minutes of my run I don't move at all. HB, some cases may interfere with the signal too. DH gets a much better signal than I do even if I shut everything else down. Not sure why. Right now since I'm only doing the 5k, I just run around our lake. I know the distance for my route and just use RK to time. I figure out my average pace from that.

It happened again! Im not gonna fight with it anymore. I dont know what the issue is. Saturday we did a 3 mile walk (felt like a hike in my opinion due to the hills) and his runkeeper had him done with the 3 miles before me. I ended up running down the road and just had him pick me up! Ha.

I really wouldn't worry about the difference. I say you both go the average of both of them and call it good (i.e., split the difference).

Just an update on my phone......it was the phone's GPS. We had Verizon check it out and it said I was in an entirely different city! What the heck?!?
We ordered a new phone for me. Now if the GPS in my husband's phone is accurate. Im a happy camper!!! Want to know why? It means that I did 11.17 miles on Saturday with an average pace of 13:30!!!
We will see what happens with Runkeeper after I get my new phone.

Did they charge you anything? I think my GPS is off. It currently says on FB I'm posting from a neighboring city. But I'm close enough to the edge of the city that it may just be the tower.

If you're interested in helping out at the race as a volunteer, registration is open. Here is a link. If you complete two shifts, or one before 3:00 a.m., you can receive a complimentary ticket to Disneyland.

Also, if you want a little extra inspiration, track your friends doing the WDW Donald, Mickey, Chip & Dale, Goofy or Dopey. It gives me a little extra boost to be able to see that "Yes, she/he did it!"

Alright two questions for you ladies: Where is the "sweeping point" on the TinkerBell gonna be? Does anyone know? I hate to be the one planning to be behind, but I also like to be prepared for what I need to hit no matter WHAT. Lol. Wasn't it close to the 10mile mark in the D-Half? I can't remember the time they were requiring either. *facepalm*
Also I've been trying to find the "Packet Pick-up Authorization Form" and am having no luck. Like, I'm driving myself CRAZY with it. Lol. It says on the race site that the form will be available a month before the race but doesn't say where. Lol. I appreciate any help and thanks in advance!

Lex, use the link Adriennek posted a few earlier, which is the waivers. For someone else to be able to pick up your packet, you HAVE to have that (and I think a copy of ID or something - not 100% positive on what works there).
In theory, you can be swept any time you are less than 16 minute mile pace, as determined by the Disney method. There ARE some 'logical' points where they may do a more formal sweep - but I wouldn't count on those being the only ones!
Disney method: Timer starts when last person crosses the start line. For each mile, add 16 minutes. Stay ahead of that pace!
(It's just easier to stay ahead of 16 minute mile pace, and any time gap between you and the last starter is just 'cushion')

In the past the DL Half has had two sweeper points - around 4-5 miles and right after Anaheim Stadium which is about mile 10.
This is a new course so I don't know if those mile markers would be the same spots for sweepers and/or if they're handling it the same way.

Oh! Thats right! I'd completely forgotten about the sweeping point when we exited the back of Dland. Good call!! The link above unfortunately doesn't take me to the packet pick-up authorization, just to the running waiver. I fully expect to be there in time for expo, (we're driving in from New Mexico) but wanted to prepare just in case something happened and we need someone to grab our stuff.
Also found out last night our "take along" babysitter is no longer coming so I'm scrambling a bit. Fullerton childcare is completely booked. We would normally never use a babysitter we didn't know but it may come to that. Anyone know if we should stay AWAY from any specific agencies, or have used any other than Fullerton?
Thanks in advance (again and always!)

I managed to get a late registration last month. I'm so excited to run in this inaugural event!! As an added perk, I get an overnighter in a hotel with DH without the kiddos! : )

Would it be foolish of me to attempt a character breakfast at PP after the race? We really need to be out of the park area by 12/12:30.

I don't think it's foolish - if you can get showered/changed in time after the race. You'll likely get your money's worth out of the buffet, too!!

You will be cutting it close, that's for sure.
What time does it start? Is it 6:00 or 6:30? I honestly can't remember.
Figure the time you'll need to finish, get back to your hotel, shower, check out and get to character breakfast?
For me, if it starts at 6:00, I'm not crossing the start line until at least 6:15, so I'm finishing around 9:30/9:45.
Then after finishing, I'm not getting out of the area until 10:00 - 10:15 by the time I get my medal, stop for picture, get my check-in bag and recover a bit.
So back to my hotel 10:15-10:30 (sometimes later.)
10:30-11:00/11:15 - shower, pack (remember, I'm moving slower than average because I'm a bit sore.)
So I would think that the earliest I would even try to get to the breakfast would be 11:30-11:45. 45 minutes isn't a lot of time for that.
If it starts at 6:30, bump the numbers up 30 minutes.

I agree with AdK's timing assumptions. I think the race starts at 6, but I could be wrong. Corrals are usually 4-6 minutes apart, right? So based on your bib number you might be starting 45 minutes back. Then assume your pace times 13.1 miles (around three hours?) then time for medal photos, grabbing a snack and getting back to the hotel. Are you planning on eating right after the race or going back to your hotel to shower? I think you could cut lots of time off by not going back to your hotel, but honestly, I'm not a heavy sweater and I would not have wanted to go eat without a shower. Plus, I need time for hunger to kick in, I had to force myself to eat lunch at 1. You're going to have to consider your preferences.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to try and see if they have any space. I honestly didn't plan on showering before heading home since we weren't going into the parks after the race, just changing my shirt before eating. I'm not a heavy sweater either and even if I don't eat a ton I'll be ok with it, since what I really want is a picture of Mickey and myself with the medal!
