View of fireworks from concierge lounge: DLH vs GCH

I'd like to hear from people who have viewed the DL fireworks from the concierge lounge at either the DL Hotel or the Grand Californian. If you have been lucky enough to experience both, I'd especially love to hear your thoughts! Which did you prefer, if any?

Is it possible that the view of the fireworks is better from DLH than GCH? Seems to me that the DLH has been in that business since day 1, so it probably has a pretty good view. Also, the towers are taller at DLH than GCH, aren't they? So I'm thinking the view might be less obstructed. Seems to me that you see a lot of roof in the view from the GCH, but that's only from the pictures I have seen.

Finally, does anyone have thoughts about view of fireworks from the DL hotel, concierge lounge vs their own concierge resort view room? Aside of the food niceties of the lounge, etc., is the view of the fireworks also superior (because it is on the top floor, right?).

The view from the GCH lounge was okay, but you can only see the higher fireworks (they do of course pipe in the music). I'm not sure how much you miss, but it was nice to enjoy them from the hotel.

Concierge Level at the Disneyland Hotel

If you choose to stay in concierge accommodations at the Disneyland Hotel, I strongly recommend requesting Dream Tower, with second choice Magic Tower.

The concierge lounge is very nice and has a lovely view of Downtown Disney and the parks, including a great view of the fireworks. It serves Continental breakfast and various snacks during the day and evening. There is also a desk where they will arrange dining reservations and accommodate other requests

Concierge Level at Grand Californian

The concierge desk can arrange dining reservations and accommodate other requests. The concierge lounge is pretty big (though not as big as the one at Disneyland Hotel) and attractively furnished in keeping with the hotel's Craftsman theming. Apparently you can see the Disneyland fireworks from the lounge, though the view is of a courtyard and the fireworks would be seen over a rooftop.

I also found some images (the first from the DL hotel, the second from GCH). You can see the top of the matterhorn in each picture (the first photo is bigger on flickr), the fireworks should be slightly to the left ...

So, I conclude that the fireworks show is likely nicer from DLH concierge than from GCH concierge. But in the end, we decided not stay there after all, due to the construction and also a desire not to change hotels mid-trip.

Too funny ... instead of watching the fireworks from either of the concierge lounges, I think we'll be watching from the top of Mickey and Friends instead!!
