Pregnant women at DL

My sister and I will be in Disneyland at the end of this month. She's pregnant, so obviously this trip will be a tad different for both of us. I emailed Disney asking what rides pregnant women couldn't/shouldn't go on and received a quick and detailed response ... which really impressed me.
For anyone's who interested, here's that list of rides pg women shouldn't go on:

Autopia
Gadget's Go Coaster
Matterhorn Bobsleds
Big Thunder Mountain
Star Tours
Splash Mountain
Indiana Jones Adventure

Anyhow, just wondering if anyone knows of any other "secrets" of great things to do or things not to do when one is pregnant and visiting Disneyland.

ummm speaking from experience some of the dark rides can be a problem. Anything with a lap bar has the potential to cause pain. It all depends on how far "out" she is at the time of the visit.

When my wife was 5 mos pregnant we took my 5 year old daughther.....my wife didn't have a whole lot of fun. Uncomfortable and hurting back and feet constantly. She better be tough.

OK, we went last year at Thanksgiving when I was 8 1/2 months pregnant (we basically went as close to Christmas as my Dr would let me out of AZ...I gave birth Christmas Eve, but I *can't* miss Christmas at DL) If walking all day is going to be uncomfortable for your sister, I highly reccommend renting a wheelchair! It was a lifesaver!

Here's my article about being pregnant at Disneyland. I've gone through two pregnancies at all sorts of stages and three pregnancies in the first trimester.

You don't say how far along she'll be. I found that I was able to walk around fine most of the time. The end of Matthew's pregnancy, in the August and September heat got a little hot and I did use a wheelchair then. I mention that in the article linked above.

We went when I was 6 mo. pregnant with my second. From my experience, comfortable shoes, rest and water are even more important than when not pregnant.

I went in July when I was about 5 months pregnant with my second son, I mad sure *I* took naps in the afternoon, wore comfy shoes and drank a TON of water and it was HOT! I was a little crankier than normally at Disneyland but I still had alot of fun! Just took it a little slower than normal.

Thanks for the tips! Just wanted to add that she'll be a little more than 7 months along. It'll be kind of fun, because our mom went to Disneyland on her due date when she was pregnant with me, hoping to encourage me to come out ... nothing doing, though since I didn't make my appearance for another 3 weeks! So, it's kind of a continuing of a tradition!
Any more tips?

Even though I don't believe they are restricted rides, I would use caution on Pirates, Small World and Mr. Toad. While Pirates and Small World are seemingly tame rides, there is a chance at the end of both rides that the boats will be backed up and will run into the boat in front and/or be run into by the boat in back. That can be quite painful. One precaution is to make sure to pay attention, and if that's about to happen, sit up in the seat a bit so it's not quite as jarring. As for Mr. Toad, it does have a number of tight and quick turns, so that might not be very comfortable.

Oh, and I'm thinking Tarzan's Treehouse might not be a good idea, depending on the stage of pregnancy.

i went when three months pregnant and found animation studios at dca to be a lifesaver. whenever i got hot and tired we could go sit in there in the cool room and watch the beautiful movie clips. at disneyland, the theatre where they play the old mickey cartoons, great moments with mr. lincoln, and tiki room are all good places to rest as well. another bonus about going when pregnant is you can eat churros with a little less guilt! lol.

My response is both related and unrelated to the topic. The last time I went to DL was last Easter in the end of March. I love DL. I want to get there before they open and stay until it ends. And don't even get me started on the eating, especially the churros and popcorn. Well, as our trip progressed I felt sick to my stomach, irritable, and tired. I even fell asleep during Blast (that really loud show that used to be at DCA). I never fall asleep during attractions. And on the last day, I vividly remember sitting in the Tiki Room eating a Dole Whip (which my sister highly recommended) and just wanting to go home and throw up. Well, two days later I took a pregnancy test and, yup, you guessed it found out I was pregnant. Now the really scary part was that I went on every ride. I went on Indy like 25 times (that's my favorite). The day after I realized I was pregnant I started bleeding, cramping and was on bed rest for 1 1/2 months. I felt so guilty; thinking my selfish fun might have harmed my baby. Well, good news. Sam, my 6 month old daughter, is healthy, happy, right now taking a nap (thank God), and going on her "second" trip to DL this Thursday! Does anyone have any similar stories?

Not a similar story, but I did go to the re-opening of the NEW Tomorrowland while I was pregnant with dd and actually had the nerver to get on and ride Rocket Rods! (I never was very big with dd) I was on pins and needles the next day at any little twinge though!

On the bright side, women are only pregnant for around 9 1/2 months. So afterwards they can always start riding again.

I've been pregnant three times (so far,) and I've never once missed going on a ride when I was pregnant.

I didn't go on them. But I didn't miss them.

The closest I came was that I never went on Rocket Rods in the beginning when I was told they were faster.

My two sons (so far,) are more than worth it.

I forgot to mention to: There are still a lot of things pregnant women *can* do at Disney parks, even when they're pregnant, and if she's pregnant, that doesn't necessarily mean that you can't go on the rides.

But if you didn't go on the rides and the hardest thing for you about her being pregnant is that you didn't go on some rides, you can remind yourself that you still had the "easier" job... trust me.

I'm seven months pregnant and went the second week in May. It wasn't too bad. Chase all over the park after my husband and two year old daughter. There are many things to do. Sad POTC was under refurbishment, but we go several times a year so it was loads of fun watching them have a great time. Just remember as everyone keeps posting, drink lots of water and sit. Sit sit sit, nice shady benches by the Matterhorn and Big Thunder trail.
