Fireworks & Fantasmic in one night?
Please forgive my ignorance, but I'm just not quite sure how this works...
On the Sunday we will arrive, the fireworks are at 8:45, and Fantasmic is at 9:05 and 10:15. There won't be fireworks or Fantasmic on any of the other days we'll be there.
My understanding is that you want to be in the central hub for the fireworks. However, I've also heard you should stake out a spot for Fantasmic hours ahead of time. Is there anywhere that is a good spot for viewing both? Do we watch the fireworks and then try to work our way over to Fantasmic? I am very skeptical my son will be able to stay awake till 10:15 for the second Fantasmic show.
We may not even go in the park that night since we don't arrive till evening. Guess we can watch the fireworks from the hotel deck (we're staying at Desert Inn).
Thanks,
Jen

845 Fireworks and then head to RoA for the 2nd Fantasmic show. The 1st show probably wont be done yet so the people who want spots for the 2nd show will be held in check to wait somewhere in Frontierland, since it is my understanding that Adventureland will be used as an exit for those leaving the 1st show.

If the fireworks are set for 8:45 pm, then you WILL be able to see them from Rivers of America if you have staked out a spot for Fantasmic. We were there in December and on our last night, were very pleasantly surprised to catch the fireworks (soundtrack, snowfall and all) right from our spot which was dead center for Fantasmic. It made the wait for fantasmic FEEL considerably shorter.
Now bear in mind it is possible that they do not wire in the music in the "off-season", but you should still be able to have a decent view of them. And in my opinion, if you can see only one thing really well (schedule wise), see Fantasmic!
As far as alternate viewing, we caught the fireworks from in front of It's a Small World, from the esplanade between the parks, from the pool deck of our hotel (Fairfield), from Castle Hub (right at the statue) and also from RoA. The sightlines were best at the Hub and RoA.
Good luck!

Every time I've seen Fantasmic (and it's a lot) they've always piped the fireworks music in, dropped the lights, everything. The fireworks won't line up just the same from that angle, but it's a pretty darn good view and makes me feel better about how long we wait for F!

Single spot to view Fantasmic and Fireworks
Is there is spot along the Rivers of America where one can see Fantasmic show and still see most of the Fireworks show?

The only fireworks you can't see from ROA is the ones they set off right at the castle. Also you won't see Tink (or Dumbo depending on which show you see) flying. We really enjoy watching most shows from ROA.

We were able to see a little bit of Dumbo when we were in the dessert seating area for Fantasmic - about a year and a half ago. Saw enough of Dumbo that when I was sitting at the hub by myself waiting to catch the fireworks, and found myself nodding off, I was able to make the adult decision and join my Mom and Sister back in the hotel! If I'd not seen enough Dumbo, I wouldn't have made the adult decision!

There is a great spot on Rivers of America that I go to every time, and it's such a good spot that we have even gotten it 5 minutes before the show on an extremely crowded day. The large towers that rise into the air providing lighting and lasers and all that...the one directly in front of the house on the island, does not go up until a few minutes before show time. People think it's an obstructed view and don't stand there. However, once it goes up, you only have the minor obstruction of the pole, which is easy enough to see around. You even get a gate to lean on! It's also great for fireworks viewing (completely unobstructed), and for Christmas fireworks, you get snowed on heavily, which is awesome.

Mickey, Murphy and Mountain Missing Elements
I was at the park on Saturday night 1/29 for Fantasmic and there were two changes. The first was that the sparks didn't come out of Mickey's fingers and the second, and more significant, was that the dragon did not show. The missing sparks I attributed to the wind conditions but I was surprised that the dragon was missing. The Queen had some other actions so it was clearly something the cast/crew knew about when the show was running. Anyone know why the dragon was gone? I would like to take some people back to see the show but will wait to make sure the dragon will do his thing.
I also noticed that during the Remember fireworks, they skipped the BTMR section. I didn't know if that was because they were trying to make it shorter or the wind or what.
Any ideas?

There's no guarantee that the dragon will be there on any given night or even any given performance. If some issue comes up, then the dragon doesn't appear and Maleficent in her witch form stays during the finale sequence instead.

They took that section out of the Remember fireworks some time ago, so it's not a recent wind-mandated change.
