    Cindy's ADR disaster

So. I snagged Cindy's at 180 days out for breakfast at 8.10am, a little under an hour of the park opening. Perfect. I was smug.

Now Disney have moved park opening to 8am and we will be wasting the best hours park touring eating

I tried to change the ADR to any other time that day. No go. I was on hold for 20 minutes from the UK before I was told no.

    I suggested to the children we ditch the booking. This is how that went;

DD 8 - (Horrified expression) "But Cinderella is expecting me mummy".

DS 11 - (Awkward tween expression) "You'll be disappointed if you don't get a photo of me kissing a princess, you DO keep going on about it". (me thinks he may just be looking forward to a gorgeous Pochantas cuddle )

So there you have it. The best laid plans. Stuffed.

    I'm so sorry.

But you're going to WDW this month and get to eat with Cindy and you get to play in the parks and you get to get away from the cold at home and you get to get away from work pressure and the day-to-day life things and...........

And you let the kids make the decision.

Yeah, you're right. Cup definately half full not half empty. I told the children about the queues. They chose them instead of missing Cindy's. We are spending 3 days at MK and the party one night so it's a rescuable situation. I was going to use the 2 day touring plan from 'Touring Plans' (the third day we're with MP friends). I'm now going to use the tween plan for our first visit and see how the land lies on day 2 to judge which plan will work best.

If we can actually get away from the UK (snow) and the airport isn't grounded. It's a white out where I live. Scary driving and chaos for 5 days now.

I couldn't. They win EVERY time

Thanks - if we manage to actually get out of Blightly I am sure we are going to have an absolute dream trip! (But still green eyed about your Beach Club snag - you are a lucky girl )

I love the response you got from the kids! too cute. a bad day at WDW is better than a good day at work! And I do hope the snow stops just long enough for you to get out!

When we all go to MK on 12/30 you can lead the way. We'll make sure you get to use the prime touring time as you wish.

Aw crud, Scooby. That stinks. Ah well, you'll have a fantastic dining experience!

(Oh, and BTW, I hear tell it's REALLY REALLY cold down in Orlando right now and looks to stay that way for a while. Might want to bring some warm undies!)

Working hard for that next WDW trip! December 2013

Well it wad minus 8 centigrade here last night. What are you defining as really cold? I was hoping for some heat!

Really, there is no downside. You can second-guess every decision and every plan, and worry that you "could" be somewhere else doing something else, which might be "better," but that attitude would take all the joy out of vacation. You are taking the kids to Cindy's, and they are happy about that. A good thing, in and of itself. Might the lines be a tad longer when you finish that great experience? Maybe. Might you have gotten one more ride in that morning, if not for the longer lines? Maybe. Don't worry about the maybes. Sometimes we have a general touring plan for the day, or that part of the day, but we have learned to change course, spontaneously, for lots of reasons. There are lots of things you can't control, or don't want to bother controlling. Sometimes we get a later start to the day than we have planned, sometimes a ride breaks down, sometimes we get stuck behind a large tour group. We just do something else. Keep the fun happening, and don't worry about the plan or schedule. Maybe keep one day open to go back and do the things you did not get to, or to repeat stuff the kids really liked (a good reason to have park hopper passes).

Not even close to the cold you are experiencing at home. Today the high is 15C (66F) and low is 5C (42F). Wednesday high is 15C (59F)and low is 3C (38F). Love the Internet for converting fahrenheit to celsius I am hoping it warms up with a high of 70 or more. That would definitely make for better swimming weather.

Are you referring to breakfast in the castle or somewhere else? I ask because I've never seen Pocahantas there, but I know they change out some of the characters there sometimes (my recent trip put us on the hunt for Mulan because she WAS there for breakfast when we arrived but left about 2 minutes into it and never returned).

Since you wrote that the park opens at 8 and you have an adr at 8:10. I would suggest getting in the park early. You have a Cindy's adr so your party getting in the park early is a non-issue. Other guests will be held back. Make a brisk walk up Main Street and be in line behind the rope to Tomorrowland. As soon as the rope drops make a beeline to Space Mountain and get fast passes. I would say Splash or Big Thunder but they are a bit farther from the Castle. Then go to Cindy's and enjoy your breakfast. When the meal is over you should be close enough to the next fast pass window that you could grab another one soon.

I am referring to breakfast in the Castle. We didn't see Pocahantas there in summer 2008 but I can assure you my BF and her partner did in December 2008 because the fall out of that encounter has been pretty funny I'm not sure my DS's developing hormones are that picky really though so if she's not there, I am pretty sure his affections will be unceremoniously transferred quite easily!

I have to say when I saw the word disaster I was certain that they lost your ADR. I'm glad that is not the case.

Sigh. The shameful details involve our trip to WDW in October 2007, with my DB, parents and sister. We were all standing in Main Street in the Magic Kingdom, having just entered, and I was chattering away to DB as we meandered slowly up the middle of Main Street. I suddenly became aware that not only was I talking to myself, but I could hear my dad laughing behind me. I turned around to find DB on his knees in front of a shop that had a large, crystal figure of *spit* Ariel in the window. He had his chin in his hands, his head on one side, and was sighing dramatically.

    I kicked him.

Y'know, it finally dawned on me after I had returned to my shop for a while. Thanks.
