    Whoa! Worker dies on It's a Small World in Disneyland Paris

    Poor guy. It says that is was accidentally turned on, doesn't sound right.

    I'm a little behind, sorry, didn't see it in the news.

    That's really sad.

    Sounds like either someone didn't follow lock out-tag out procedures, or they're not something that's done in France (and should be, seems to me).

    They have LOTO in France; I've seen the training. Either it wasn't followed, as you said, or he was working in an area he shouldn't have been and didn't notify anyone.

    I looked through a number of different articles (all were quite lacking on details. I'm really surprised that none identified the company he actually worked for, just that it was a contractor or subcontractor to Disney) and found one that indicates that maybe it wasn't a LOTO failure (glad to hear they employ that in France, it's such a basic system and really can help prevent injury).

    This article says:

    The 53-year-old employee, a cleaner, was working the "It's a Small World" boat ride when the machine turned on. The man fell into the water and was trapped underneath the boat ride.
