Oh God ... I just saw the trailer for the Lizzie McGuire movie.
Get ready for another bomb by Walt Disney Pictures. It'll probably do well the first week, when all the over-hyped tweens will drag their moms to the film.

Whether it's the next Citizen Kane or not, it's going to make a ton of money. They're getting our $20.00 anyway.
I LOVE Lizzie! And I'm not a 'tweenie either (try 19).
Anyways, I might be going to the premiere of the movie, and I'm friggin excited (I still have friends in the teenybop world)
"You know, some guys just can't hold their arsenic!"
Can someone explain the concept of this "Lizzie McGuire" thing?
Isn't the name of someone who was beheaded? Or maybe she was a prostitute? I am sooooo far gone in the pop culture realm.
Lizzie McGuire is a show run on the Disney Channel (just a few more episodes to air before it's 65 episode contract is done). It basically aims itself to the tweenie crowd.
From the Lizzie McGuire page at TV Tome:The show itself is pretty cute, I watch it more for hair and clothing ideas from Lizzie and Miranda (played by LaLaine)."Get inside her head!" say the advertisements and you can do that when you watch this Disney Channel family comedy, the most successful of their "Zoog Weekendz" shows. It's all about the ordinary and not-so-ordinary adventures of a junior high student and her two best friends as they try to deal with the ups and downs of school, popularity, boys, parents, a bratty little brother--just life in general. And if Lizzie leaves anything unsaid, you can bet that her cartoon alter ego will say it for her! Original episodes premiere on Fridays at 7:30PM (EST). Since September 9, 2002, Lizzie has been seen daily, with broadcasts at 7:30PM, repeated at 10:30PM! Plus for the last couple of seasons Lizzie has been a part of the ABC Saturday morning lineup now entitled "ABC Kids." But again, your local broadcast times may vary, especially for the "ABC Kids" showing, so check those local listings! Enjoy!

OK. I have been enlightened. I got a nice little IM with a link to the movie site. It looks entertaining.
Are you kidding? Of course it will be entertaining! I mean, if the description of just the TV show requires that many exclamation points to explain the premise of the show, it must be like, the most exciting show ever! That website must have been all exclamation points!
I'll have to check my local listings!
Lizzie Bordon took and axe and gave
her mother 40 whacks. and when she saw
what she done, gave her father 41
That's what I was thinking of!
OK. You may all go back to the topic now.
Hey, I was going to describe it in my own words (minus about 300 exclamation points). but theirs was a lot shorter than mine would have been.
In any case, I'm excited to see this movie, even if it doesn't prove to be the greatest piece of cinematic history.
Now Malibu's Most Wanted, THERE'S a competition to Titanic if I ever saw one...

Speaking of tweeny cable TV shows, does anyone know how much longer I'm going to have to wait for "Clarissa Explains it All" to come out on DVD?
Enough is enough already! How much longer do they think we can wait?!
They run Clarissa every so often on Noggin.
What I need back is You Can't Do That on Television, Hey Dude, and Salute Your Shorts.
Ah, the good old days of sitting around, waiting for Wild and Crazy Kids to be over so that I could enjoy th antics of Bobby Budnick, Sponge, Donkeylips, and the rest of the gang. . .

[Off Topic] I used to LOVE that show! With the guy who climbed up the ladder and the red-headed brother who was always concerned about $$$$? Cool[/Off Topic]Originally posted by Matterhorn Fan

Guy with the ladder: Next door neighbor and Clarissa's best friend Sam. There was an episode where he actually used the front door for once, and was saying how weird it was.
Red-headed brother: The ever money-power hungry brother Ferguson (nickname: Fergie) I still remember when he stole her bike. . and was all mad when she got his old one (by parents demand) and fixed it up. . . and then he wanted it back, the little twerp!

OMG, i can't wait for the Lizzie McGuire movie! it looks so cute! my friends and i saw agent cody banks last month on opening day just to see hilary duff (ok, frankie muniz is kind of cute, but a bit scrawny.)
As for the Lizzie McGuire show, some of my friends like it but it gets too stupid for me sometimes. I have watched a few of the last episodes but only because my friend taped them.

I'm teaching myself to dream... I'm holding my breath to scream... I'm teaching myself to believe in the things I don't understand, I don't even know if they're true-- cuz that's what dreamers do.
This movie will make some $$ for Disney. Lizzie McGuire is the #1 rated show on the Disney Channel, and, if I remember correctly, some 75% or so of the 'tween girl demographic has seen the show at some point, and basically the entire demographic knows who she is. There is a Lizzie McGuire clothing line out, and countless other merchandising oppotunities for the show.
They finished taping the show for TV last year, before the cast "aged out", though they still have an entire season of never before seen shows to air this year. Disney has to tape these shows quickly in order to make as many episodes as possible before the cast fully matures.
And, as a parent of both a girls and a boy, these shows are not too bad, rather entertaining, and, as with most things on the Disney Channel, rather wholesome.
I look forward to the Lizzie McGuire movie...not as much a my girls...but I do.
I love the CD they made off the songs they play on the Disney Channel show...We sing to it all the time...
While my girls wouldn't be caught dead in Lizzie clothes...they'll love going to the movie...
And...to throw this in...I look forward to the Amanda Bynes movie. She's a cutie too!
When you got a "tweenager" in the house (especially a girl one)...you tend to be in the "know" of what't going on in this age group of tv, movies, music...

I would usually make some comment here related to the hotness quotient of Hilary Duff, but considering that she's about as old as my little sister, I think I shall refrain.

Wow, you really are old! So, what's sadder, that Not Afraid can remember the joke or that I can almost quote the whole Laugh-In reference verbatim??Originally posted by Not Afraid

I think it basically went where Dan Rowan introduced his "family", with the joke referenced above as "Here are the twins: Simon and Gar Farkle".

Another Mother for Lizzie here. She's vivacious, lively, cute, has a nice family and friends, thinks out life's choices.
Look, the choice for young girls often comes down to Christina/Britney/Pink and a t.v. star like Lizzie.
Insert passive aggressive sentence of your choice here.
I tried to watch that Lizzie McGuire show on Disney Channel yesterday to see what it was like.

That about sums up the content of my brain for the few minutes I could endure.
I've also got to agree with Uncle Dick. But I've never been one to endure a stupid show just to watch a hot chick. I can't even sit through VIP.

Alice loved her til Hilary Duff said "normal" girls hate bugs. That pretty much killed it for Alice, who wants to be, if you didn't hear the first 347,298 times I mentioned it, an entomologist.
The final nail in the coffin was when I interviewed the VP of cable networks for Disney. I asked about Walt Disney being taken off the Disney Channel, and her reply to me was that "Lizzie McGuire IS Walt Disney to this generation. And she's Walt Disney to us."
I swear, those actual words came out of her mouth. It took a while for me to close mine, as my lower jaw was somewhere around my knees at the audacity of this last statement.
So the answer was no, until we found out that the KimPossible Movie hinges on the Lizzie Mc...oh, sorry "Walt Disney for this Generation" movie being a success. I might just buy a couple of tickets.

While Lizzie will be a thing of the past then...Your little darling will have a new girl "tweenager" idol on tv. Let's hope that she is as wholesome, cute and fun as Lizzie is...
This is my third "tweenager" girl...shows change, girls grow up...but each girl has had a special show that they had to watch at that age...about being that "age".
