    Parking close time?

I was wondering how long after park closing do the parking structure/lots close? I made reservations at Steakhouse 55 for 8:40pm -- after park closing at 8pm. Do I need to go get the car and move it to DTD parking or do you think I would be ok to leave it and pick up after dinner?

    Thanks!

As far as I know, the exits never close. You should be able to take your car out of the structure after you're done eating at Steakhouse 55.

Will you be walking back to your car by yourself? I really really don't like being in 'desserted' parking garages late at night solo, so if that's the case, you might consider moving your car for safety reasons. (Though I don't know if you'd have to pay twice then or not.)

If you move your car, just get your parking validated at the restaurant, then you have 5 hours free parking in DTD lot.

Even then, you get three hours free in DTD. We parked in that lot in August, walked around, then ate dinner before heading back to the car. That's when the wife asked if I got the ticket validated. Dooogh! Even then we found out we'd only been in the area for 2.5 hours, so all was good.

I was going to say you got three free hours. I parked there in April, when I took the older two kids back after dropping DH and the younger two girls back at the room and having dinner. I didn't want to walk in the parking garage late at night without DH, even with two teenagers.

No, my 6'4" husband will be with me, but thank you for the concern! =)

This is a bit confusing to me. One post said 5 hours free parking at DTD, another post said 3 hours free parking -- both with validations. Both seem to include dinners at either DLH or in DTD. Can someone break this down for me? Because I've wondered about this myself.

For instance, if you go to DTD for dinner and park there -- how long are you allowed to park with a validation?

If you go to dinner (or lunch, whatever) at a DLR hotel -- how long can you park with validation? (And I'm assuming is by parking at DLR hotel, not at a DTD lot, correct?)

DTD is 3 hrs free with 2 more or 5 hrs free with a validation

The trams run an hour after park closes. I would park at the Hotel Valet or DTD and then you will be fine.

If it were me (and I have done this before too) I would not bother moving your car. You'd be leaving with the herd of people all leaving the garage at closing time, and sometimes when you leave the garage traffic is forced to go one way or another - there is no easy way back around to the DTD parking. I've been forced onto the ramp leading to the freeway at closing more than once, it would be a small nightmare for you to get back to DTD if you get trapped in that.

It is a very easy walk from DTD (leaving between ESPN and Rainforest Cafe) straight across the DTD parking lot and across Magic Way towards the garage. I've done it a ton of times when we wanted to go to DTD before leaving. There is a sidewalk the entire way along this route so it is safe and a crosswalk signal at the stoplight when you cross the street. After you cross the street, veer right on the sidewalk until you get to the next opening in the wall which is a walkway back to the tram area, and back to the escalators. You never have to wander through a parking lot area in the dark until you get to your floor in the garage.

The walk is not bad and I have never felt unsafe, even with 2 little kids with me. I regularly see Disney Security on bikes or driving security suv's patrolling the garage, it seems like the appear out of nowhere when you are the only one around, maybe they see a petite woman with 2 kids wandering the garage in the dark and come to make sure I'm safe :-) (Just let me think it)

The walk back to the tram is probably as long if not longer than just cutting across the DTD parking lot to the garage, there is no need to do that.

This is true. and I feel the area is safe too.
