bennette-The food at C33 is very good. Not at all the same as NR, but good. The desserts are incredible. But, add the bonus of F! and I think I'd choose C33. Even though I am having a NR dry spell, it's been since February and we don't have another reservation until the end of May.

Oh, I've eaten there. But not dinner. The desserts at lunch/brunch come from the DLH, with the exception of the macaroons, and mostly strike me as meh (I don't eat a lot of desserts so they have to be REALLY good when I do). The entrees are very good though, and I think they have an excellent bartender! I am expecting good things. And do you know, I've never seen the dragon full on? I've seen her from a back view but she has never been functional or "in season" when we've had seats.

    I am expecting good things!

As for the view, don't expect too much yet, there are trees between the balcony and the show. But there may be a good spot to view.

Stay hyped on the food though...

Oh, the lunch/brunch desserts didn't do it for me. I liked the salads and the cream of artichoke soup. But, dinner? I LOVED my dessert, as well as my DH's dessert and DisneyFunFamily's dessert was pretty darn good, too.

ETA: I can't speak for the bartender as I had wine. Shocked?

As I recall the wine isn't bad either.

Hey, I'm thinking that if you are all the way to the left side of the balcony, there may be a good view. And after Fantasmic! there are the fireworks... (Or are they still doing them at 840p?)

Nope, fireworks were at 9pm two Fridays ago when we were there. We saw F! then stayed put for fireworks.

What is the Cheese Plate at NR like? What is on it?

    Short answer: It's good.

    Long answer:

It changes every time because a good cheese plate is made with the "best" of whatever they can find and many cheeses are actually seasonal (so maybe one type is only "best" in summer when the cows are grazing on flowers on high alpine meadows—I don't make this stuff up—or one is only available in the fall because the ripening process and timing is precise). They will present you several varieties on one plate (I can't remember how many they are serving right now but it's a good number) and they will be arranged clockwise, from the mildest to the most pungent.

There will be descriptions for each and a selection of cheese accompaniments and condiments (like a couple of fruit preserves and a conserve; bread and butter; dried fruit; maybe nuts—things that help bring out the flavors of the cheese).

It will serve 2-3 for tasting portions, I think. Not everyone will like everything but you'll all probably find some things you really like. There will be sheep, cow, and goat milk cheeses; some soft, some firm, some hard. You can try it with a glass of food friendly white wine that goes with most things or be crazy, like me, and order one glass of red and one of white! Presumably you can share those with someone, too.

I've never had anything crazy there—no stuff I would describe as stinky cheese. But I know I've been with a couple of folks who didn't like, for example, blue cheese, and weren't crazy about the one that came on the plate. If there are ten cheeses, I usually like nine of them.

Oh, and last time I had it they were serving it with this fruit bread. It was really good but was kind of offputting with some of the different cheeses. We sent it back and asked for plain bread and butter.

ETA It's more filling than you think it will be!

Thank you both! We like most cheeses, but as bennette knows, we do work with limited palates, so sometimes, it's hard to experiment.

How about the sizzling rock appetizer? Or the pizza of the day? Maybe the regular pizza without the grapes (then it's just ham and onion) if someone will try cambozola cheese (a creamy, mild blue; not assertive like gorgonzola)?

I think about trying that cause it sounds/looks so good, but the price puts me off a bit. I have seen someone order just the ribs, so I'm kinda tempted to do that cause they look amazing.

And I still want to try the cheese plate there since I've never gotten around to it.

Wondering if C33 has any kind of cheese thing at dinner. No clue.

They have the "Regional Artisan Cheese Plate", which MDM loves!! She will have to describe it as I haven't had it.

If she likes that, she should be very happy with this. It won't be identical but close enough.

Hey all-I should know the answer to this but I don't. My friend and I want to go do dessert at the Napa Rose lounge on May 22nd (a Sunday). Do we need to make PS for the lounge? Thanks.

Nope. You can just show up. I've done it several times.

That's great! I'm sure it will be a lovely celebration. If the weather is warm, sitting on the patio is pretty nice too.

Well, we did find out the cheese change. The cheese plate was not as good, only because we didn't like one of the cheeses. I liked the gouda, and the brie like cheese was good. But the other cheese (bennette might know what it was) was not good. Or perhaps cstephens can tell us what it was... Now I am leery about the NR cheese plate.

    Does it change seasonally?
That reminds me, I was reading the California Grille (WDW) menu online and I think they mentioned that their cheese plate changes seasonally.

ETA:Oh, and I realize you know that CA Grille is at WDW, but others reading this thread may not.

Cheese is seasonal! Hello! The plates will change, maybe as often as every week. (Sorry for the grrr.)

I prefer the NR cheese plate; the Club plate had only three choices. So if you don't like one of the three, that's problematic. It was a strong blue but I don't know which one.

The California Grill cheese plate is similar in quality and design to the one at Napa. Fairest you will enjoy it, if you can force it down after the drinks, sushi, and everything else (I did!)

So I'm reading my bean feed...

I think y'all said it was a bleu cheese of some sort? That's what I remember it tasting like.

OK, next time you're in town, we've gotta arrange a meet at the Napa Rose lounge - I'm buying cheese!
