This will be the first time for my Fiancee and I. We will only be there for 5 nights, and roughly 6 days. So which would you suggest for ease of travel between parks and everywhere else? Would you stay at the Contemporary or the Wilderness Lodge?

Contemporary has the monorail.

WL is much more isolated! (Not a bad thing for romance, but not so good if you want to get out and do things
)
Contemporary!
For romance + monorail I would check out the Polynesian.

For ease of travel, I would definitely recommend the Contemporary. You can take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom, or just walk (it's about 10 minutes). After the Contemporary, the Transportation & Ticket Center is the first stop, so that also makes it (relatively) easy to get to Epcot.
If a guy called "Foulfellow" asks you to go to Pleasure Island, just don't do it--I mean, he's got the word "Foul" right in his name!
After all these replies the Contemporary it is.

We stayed at WL in 09 and LOVED it. Easy to get where you need to go and most bang for your buck at a deluxe.

I have stayed at both and was disappointed in the Contemporary and loved The Wilderness Lodge. The lodge is just SO themed and it has winding trails and boats (romance ops?). The Cont. can be VERY noisy with Chief Mickey's (yes, the screaming kids make more noise then the monorail does). I mean the Cont. is so close you can walk to MK but getting there is half the fun with the boats.
You could do a split stay and try both. If you do not pack much and moving your bags is not a big deal, it allows a change of pace during your vacation.

My wife, parents, her parents, and I all love (and I even own DVC at) both. For ease of travel you can't beat the Contemporary and walking to MK. You can take the boat from the Cont. dock over to Wilderness Lodge to grab a bite or enjoy the ambiance- we visit the WL at least once every trip and have a meal at Whispering Canyon, one of our favorite restaurants in the World. Enjoy your trip!

Having stayed at both, I also lean toward the Wilderness Lodge. I just love the atmosphere, and the fact that it's a quieter resort is a good thing. It has boat and bus service, and it really doesn't take that long to get around, although you could easily walk to the Magic Kingdom from the Contemporary. Compare the room rates, and you should get a much better rate at the Wilderness Lodge, so you can spend more money on a romantic dinner or two.
Out of the blue my DW mentioned last night that staying at BLT (Bay Lake Tower @ Disney's Contemporary Resort; the vacation club side that replaced the north Garden Wing) is her favorite and she'd be perfectly happy staying there for every WDW trip in the future... She does still want to try concierge level @ Animal Kingdom & is fine with staying in each DVC reort once to try them though. And when in DL she is very excited about our first VGC stay in a few weeks (we did the Grand Cal Hotel once while the villas component was being built). Reason she wants to stay in BLT & VGC so much? Location, location, location!
Not sure if it has been mentioned, but one more really nice thing about Contemporary / BLT is that it has the shortest walk of any WDW resort to get to a park's (MK) bus area, so it is a relative breeze to get to any of the other resorts via Disney transportation for visiting them for their restaurants or just to enjoy the variety of atmospheres. Resort hopping can be a lot of fun, just like park hopping!

We use to do this on some of our earlier trips when we were still new to the WDW experience. On one trip we stayed at three different resorts just to enjoy the theming of each.
I would say that as far as pure theming, our favorite would be the AK Lodge (Wilderness coming in a close second). As far as convenience to the parks, Contemporary (Beach Club a close second for EPCOT and a great pool). As far as value compared to theming compared to location, Port Orleans - French Quarter.
Resorts we disliked (relative to other Disney resorts) were Coronado Springs (too spread out, too much walking around a featureless "lake", etc) and the All Stars (they are cheap but you get what you pay for).

Wow - we strongly disagree on this one, RX. CSR is by far my favorite of the moderate resorts. Yes, it's somewhat spread out, but a word to the front desk upon checkin and you can usually get a room closer to the front buildings. And I totally LOVE the Lago Dorado Lagoon. I really enjoy walking up front for breakfast, by the lagoon with steam rising up off of it. Pure magic!
Haven't STAYED at Coronado, but from walking around, it's my least favorite too. Too big. Of course, that's probably not a fair assessment.....
Of Cont & WL, I'd go WL, but it just fits my personality better.....
Working hard for that next WDW trip! December 2013
