I'm another. Distance wise, they are about the same. I like the feel at Hojo's (and it is close to Mimi's!!!)

since we only get to disneyland once every year or two, we try to pack in as much disney atmosphere as possible.having stayed at pp 3 times before i know what i'll be getting,was a little nervous about hojo.especially the parking lot break-ins

I am pretty sure others will tell you that those break ins have stopped and that HoJo's went above and beyond for the people who were affected. I stayed at HoJo's in May and had not heard anything about them. I think that I would rather save my money and stay at HoJo's since it is the same distance . From what I have heard, Paradise Pier does not have the magic that DLH and GCH have. Save your money and use it for magic in the parks...

Well, just remember that while there were a few break ins at Hojo's, there have also been cars stolen from the PP parking lot.

Theft and break ins happen everywhere.

I am paying $180 + tax for 3 nights at the Hojo at the end of October, just was quote $525 for the same dates at the PP...no contest there...if it was close I might consider trying it to say I did it, but thats not even close. The grand was only a little more than the PP, kinda odd there.

I LOVE the hojo, I really dont see myself staying anywhere else in the near future, I like to blow my money in the parks...

We love hojo too for the reasons you stated in this post and others. We stayed there 10 out of our last 12 visits. I will admit though that when we wanted to go in June and couldn't get a good rate at hojo, we took that as an opportunity to splurge for once and stayed at the DLH for 3 nights. It was really fun to try out, and I would like to do it again sometime, but when we went back last month, we stayed at hojo for $210 + tax and were still completely satisfied with that experience as well.

I've been watching and waiting for the fall specials and I pounced on them yesterday. DH and I have 7 nights at the DLH for a great rate. We really like the fall deals. We have also stayed at HoJo's twice and enjoyed them. We are just lucky enough to have the funds to enjoy DLH this time. We love being able to jump on the monorail to be let off in Tomorrowland.

Aw, bummer. I was hoping to get a screamin' deal but staying at the Sheraton is still at least three hundred dollars cheaper.

Interesting that rooms at the Pier are more expensive than at the DLH for my dates of stay. I imagine that's the effect of construction?

(Just checked and the PP rooms offered for my dates are the upper-level Park view, while the DLH rooms are the resort/pool view, so I guess there's the cost difference right there.)

We love being able to jump on the monorail to be let off in Tomorrowland.

For me, the Monorail is fine for afternoon/evening entry. BUT, my first entry of the day, I want to go through the main gate and head up Main St. Hopping on the Monorail and dropping into Tomorrowland, without seeing the Castle, or all the shops just isnt right!

we stayed at the Hojo's last weekend for the first time, couldn't walk away from the $59 deal - The rooms were old (we were in one of the smaller buildings) and you could hear the freeway, but they were clean and we just cranked the air and pretended we were listening to the ocean. The kids had a great time at the pool play area, we normally stay at a DL resort hotel, but for that price I think I'll be staying at Hojo's in the future....[

I cant imagine what I would have to do to get my kids up and out the room for 7am entry...they are bums who sleep in...getting out of bed at 8 is early for them.

I havent seen a rate yet that will justify staying on propety...will I ever do it? Probably one day, when I have some cash to blow, but when you are talking hundreds of dollars cheaper, I can carry my bags on the way out and walk down Harbor...and I am glad to avoid all the construction at DLH right now.

Look at it this way...the walk down harbor, no early entry, and carrying my bags can pay for 3 visits to Ariels Grotto...

And there are other ways to get into early entry without staying on property, PM me if you want to know, not entirely ethical but still legal.

I would now like to cue one of the Adrienne's to tell their DLH horror story...something about dried oatmeal on the bed, its a classic.

I agree plasma140! There are some great rates available! Well done to grab your room.

I love the on site atmosphere too. You can go back and forth so easy and the walk is all Disney, Downtown Disney, the Grand Californian.

When you get a deal like this, it makes it that much better staying on site.

Normally we stay at Hojo's because of their wonderful prices and we love staying there. For our honeymoon, we've decided to splurge... I was originally going to fork over the nearly $800 for 2 nights at the Grand, but thanks to a truly special CM on the phone and the special fall rates, we got a premium view room for approx. $280/night. How could I say no to that?! We are really looking forward to our first stay at a DL resort hotel and spending our honeymoon there

Okay, okay, one time we HAVE to stay on property, just to see what it's like, and we will - when we visit Disney World (next year or the year after). I just forced, er, encouraged my husband to read the article today about on or off site and he's in for on at Disney World (yaaay!). But I would also really, really like to stay at Paradise Pier in California as almost 19 years ago (in about ten days) I would have been at the Pan Pacific on my honeymoon - now known as the Paradise Pier Hotel!!! We took a cute little tram to get to and from DL ('cause it was sooo far away), walked back once mid-day. Stopped at the DL hotel and wandered around a bit, bought some art cels that still hang in my entry as momentos of our honeymoon. It wasn't terribly special (non-Disney) at the time except that it was our honeymoon. That day (late August) we went back and had a swim in the roof top pool, discovered Godfather's Pizza next door when we peered over the edge of the patio deck and later went for pizza and a beer before heading back to the land for the Main Street Electrical Parade. Best flimsy pizza and beer I ever had - so much fun, would love to do it again (if Godfather's was still there) just for memory's sake.

So once, sometime (my 11 yr old says when he goes prop in the NHL ) we are going to stay on property again...even if the first time we weren't, really...

I have done very very little research on WDW, as we wont be going there for many years, but I hear you pretty much have to stay on property there, and you have way more than 3 choices.

I agree with that. I have been to WDW in 1994 and stayed at Carribean Beach Resort. It was magical! And so easy to get around!

Speaking of HoJo's, does anyone happen to know if there's a Mimi's in the area? Easy to get to? Or is that little bonus just a Disneyland thing? I'm hoping someone's been who knows the area a little and proximity to things (which you can't always tell from an address if I google it, much the same as 'across the street from Disneyland' - is it really? On the entrance side???)

Mimi's is directly across the street from Hojo's. The walk form Hojo's/Mimis to the turnstiles of Disneyland is about 10 mins and very easy.

If you look at this map, The four white building at Manchester and Harbor are Hojos. On the south side of the corner of Manchester and Harbor is Mimis.
