[Fireworks on Christmas Party nights?] 19th of December

My party of 12 is thinking of going to MK on the 19th of December but not going to mickey's very merry christmas party (which is the last night of the season for it). Will they shoot off fireworks and light the castle before the park closes to the "regular public", or is it just for the party? and does anyone know what time they will do it?

I think on party nights there are no fireworks or "kiss goodnight" before the party starts at 7pm.

In the past, they will light the castle after it gets dark, before the party. However, fireworks will most likely be shown after the party starts.

As it gets closer, they will post when the proposed fireworks time will be. You might want to consider alternate viewing areas such as over at the Poly beach or even get a dinner ressie at California Grill and then get to see if from the top of the contemporary. (A must see!)

What time do you think we should make ressies at the calfornia grill to see fireworks? We can make reservations tommorow morning.

Anytime after 7 I bet. Just let them know that you would like to make reservations that would allow you to see the fireworks. Even if you get an earlier reservation, you can leave CG and come back later to view the fireworks from the observation deck. Just keep your receipt.

It can get fairly crowded at the California Grill for the fireworks, so try to get up there a bit early. When I went, almost the entire restaurant emptied out to go outside and watch the show. If you can't get a reservation at the California Grill then the beach at the Poly is a great place to see the fireworks. Both places have the music piped in.

One more place is at the north end of the concourse level at the Contemporary. You can walk outside onto a terrace and watch the fireworks. I did this many years ago and there was almost nobody out there. However, I don't think the music was piped in there, so this would be my 3rd choice.

I did see speakers around the deck so maybe they are piping in music now.

GusMan, you just made me think a little more about this. This is definitely still my 3rd choice for the fireworks.

For me, if I'm not in MK for the fireworks then the beach at the Poly is first choice - it's so relaxing to sit there in a lounge chair with a drink in hand watching Wishes.

Has anyone watched Wishes from Narcoosee's? I thought about doing that on my last trip but was not able to. I assume they have the music piped in there too.

For what it's worth, this hasn't been my experience, and I've been up there many times for fireworks. There have usually been maybe 20 people or so out on the balcony. Perhaps you just hit it on a strange night when EVERYONE felt the need to go outside.

And it really is a terrific place to see the fireworks!

Thanks, Dan. Maybe I'll have to give it another try!
