Save the Date: MouseAdventure Fall 2010 - Animal Kingdom
If you're registered for the MouseAdventure Newsletter, you might have noticed this teaser at the bottom of last week's issue:
Rumors of a new set of MouseAdventure World Explorers Merit Badges have been reported. A new troop meeting may need to be scheduled.
We're pleased to announce that MouseAdventure is heading back to The World for Fall 2010!
Our next Florida MouseAdventure is tentatively scheduled for October 9, 2010, at Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom park.
Please note that although we have confirmed the date with Disney, we do not yet have a signed contract. Our contract should be in place by next week and we will send out a newsletter as soon as it is signed. We would advise to NOT make any non-refundable travel reservations until we have a contract in place.
We also do not have final pricing for this event, but we are working hard to keep the cost the same as last year ($175 per two player team + $30 for each additional player) and will once again include breakfast inside the park before park open.
More information will be coming soon!

Rats - just before the October 15 tax deadline - work trumps fun. The Lost Falls Expedition will not be traveling back to Florida. Bummer.

I feel you, TheMur, I am an accountant too and October 15th is the unshakeable deadline in my office. I will have to content myself with the recap too.

Wooohooo! This helps soften the blow of missing the spring MA!
It just so happens that the Swanie clan will be at WDW for MA-AK weekend. Please tell me that there will be a family division since we'll have the lil' Swanies in tow...

Southwest opened for booking through October 30 this morning. I found a $124 (per person each way) fare from either San Jose or San Francisco. So I booked it and I guess we're going. (It wasn't a sure thing by any means)
The total, with an extra $10 per person each way for Southwest's Early Bird checkin, comes in nearly $250 less than the equivalent Virgin America itinerary assuming one checked bag.

Sadly no - we've been assured the date is ours, but Disney has yet to issue contracts. Until I have a signed piece of paper, it's not official. Joe is pestering them, but it sounds like their department is swamped right now.

Might there be a Family Division for this event? DD's Fall Break happens to be that week & we might be considering a jaunt to the World.
By the way -- Epcot's Food & Wine Festival starts on Friday, October 1st.

And for any runners, the Wine & Dine half marathon is also the weekend before MA, on October 2.

We now have a contract from Disney, so it's official:
The next troop meeting of MouseAdventure: World Explorers is Saturday October 9, 2010, at Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom park.Registration details to come; don't expect them until AFTER the May 22/23 event.

I was waiting to respond so that people could see that AVP was the last poster - but you've had enough time.

I think one time the WDW event needs to be in summer (I know- HOT) or around Christmas. I'm a teacher and never gonna be able to go in the fall. I'm wondering though if this date will fall around one of our 3 day weekends because of furloughs, but still it's probably not worth it to fly all that way just for the game, not to enjoy the World at all.

The other big disadvantage with summer or Christmas is that the crowds would likely be a huge impediment to the game as well - plus the hotel rates are considerably more expensive.
Disney may not even 'allow' extra events like this to be at those times of year.

Okay, I need help convincing my teammate (and romance unit) that fall MA in AK is a must. He says we were just in WDW last fall, and if he's going to travel that far again he wants it to be to someplace new. I say: MA in AK + F&W in EPCT = win. But, he remains unpersuaded by that compelling equation. Obviously I need new material. Help!

I've been using that same argument on my husband (we also went last fall). He's not entirely buying it, either.

When this was announced at MA on Sunday, my kids were begging to go. I promised that if I win the lottery before registration closes, we'll go for sure!
(WDW has already been eliminated from this year's vacation budget! I tried.)

He can see me and my sister again?
Does he realize that FOOD & WINE festival is NOT the same as at DCA?
If that doesn't convince him, are you sure he's worth it?
