    Kids Meals at Blue Bayou

After seeing another BB post this morning about prices I wondered if anyone on here has been able to order a kids meal for an adult. I want to have room left for dessert! Anyone been able to pull this off?

Nope, but they are willing to make the kids meal into an adult portion at an adult price! (Tried it. My adult child didn't like anything on the adult menu, so ordered a kid's meal, they said she had to have an adult portion/adult prie. Wasn't a problem, since it was food she would eat!)

The last time we went here I ordered two kids meals for my two kids, plus a menu item for myself and one for hubby. Both kids had LOTS leftover (the mac and cheese looked sooo good!), and so did I, so I think next time I'll just share with them and order a "split plate" of my hubby's meal (so I get the salad) and let them share one kid's meal and eat most of the other one myself!

So I don't know if that helps the OP, but I think it will work for us.

We had the same thing happen as Malcon10t - my son (13 yrs) wanted to order off the kid's menu and they would not let him. Funny thing is a prior trip Napa Rose let my sister (over 40!) order off the kid's menu.

It's not that I don't want to eat what's on the adult menu, just that there SO much of it! I'm thinking we'll just do the split plate...if you split something does it seem like there's still enough?

Also, anyone have a recent trip where they can report on dessert? I've seen a lot of the cookie boat being gone, back, who knows what.

Can I request a waterside table when I call? I'm still not used to being the responsible adult on Disneyland trips!

    Keep Moving Forward!

When you do the spilt plate, you will both get the salad or soup and each person's portion of the entree with come with the sides. IMHO, it is enough to share. And I did not see the cookie boat on the menu in December. Try to get to the BB a little earlier than your ressie and request a water table. They can usually tell you how long a wait, if any, there would be.

It was some time ago, and she got an entree about 1.5 times the size of a child's portion, and the price was about 1.5 times the price. It was a good deal to me at the time as it was something she would eat, instead of paying for an adult meal that she would only pick at.

The best way I've found to get a waterside table is to call in advance and get in on the first seating. We usually do an 11:30 lunch seating - those first tables are all watersides. And it's nice to not have to walk through a crowded restaurant to go to your table!

I feel the same way about the amount of food for adult portions...IT'S TOO MUCH! When we ate at the BB last August (a party of 8, including two kids), I asked the server if it was possible for me to order a kid's meal and she said she wasn't supposed to do it but let me anyway! Then a couple of weeks ago, the server said no (this time a party of 6, with the same two kids), but ended up asking her manager and they gave me permission. It also might have helped because I said that I had a flight to catch that evening (which was true) and carrying leftovers onto the plane was difficult!

Actually, I'd be happy with just their yummy potatoes & rolls - LOL!

Regarding the waterside seating...I agree with kaybee2 about getting in on the first seating of the day, plus checking in about 15mins early. However, they don't seem to sit larger groups along the water as a rule, so you may be out of luck if you have more than 4 people. We were in the second row from the water the last two times but the ambiance was still terrific!

As always; I think it depends on the CM you have at the time.

In December I had my 13y/o neice with me; and they let her ordrer off the kids menu without question. When ordering her drink; she asked if they had Raspberry Iced Tea; he said he was sorry but they didn't; then he paused and said he'd "figure something out". I'm pretty sure he found some raspberry sno-cone syrup or something simliar for her iced tea; she was happy (it was very tasty, I took a sip!).. I'm not sure how much out of his way he had to go; but it was much apprecated; and we let him know!

I went to BB with 3 friends. We shared 2 Monte Cristo Sandwiches between the 4 of us and each got our own soup or salad. It was just the right amount.

Just to chime in, we used to do the same thing at Cafe Orleans with the kid's Mac & Cheese and the kid's Monte Cristo. 2 times the size (huge plate of mac and 2 of the fried uncrustables) at 1.5 times the price in our experience.
