Discounts to go away - LA Times 2/10/2010
The LA Times posted a story about the earnings call from Disney on Tuesday - but one interesting quote from Rasulo (now the chief financial officer), "Chief Financial Officer Jay Rasulo said Disney planned to wean consumers from the park promotions it used during the height of the recession.
"It's not crystal clear looking forward what the best tactics will be to eventually make our way out of discounting . . . but we will see in the coming quarters," said Rasulo, who until January headed parks and resorts. "It probably won't be flipping the switch off. It will be a gradual buildup out of it."
"
so - as the company spends more money to fix up DCA - I expect more gate price hikes but less discounting - maybe even the demise of the 2fer. Great for guest experience, bad for the pocket book.
"[Disneyland] has that thing - the imagination, and the feeling of happy excitement - I knew when I was a kid." - Walt Disney
