Sunday will slow quite a bit since a number of people have to drive home to Utah and Arizona, making the day nicer as it goes on. Most school breaks happen earlier in the month so thats a great week to go. Small World is likely to close on the Monday to start its Holiday overlay.

CHANGE IN PLANS....SOOOOO thank you for all the great info on the week of Oct 22nd BUT as an awsome suprise my Uncle is paying for my parents my family and my brothers family to all take a trip to Disneyland together and now its looking more like late Nov early Dec. So the weeks we were thinkis is Leaving Sunday Nov 25 (the Sunday after Thanksgiving) and staying through Thursday the 29th OR Sunday Dec 9th through Thursday the 13th?? Any ideas on one being better over the other for a little lighter crowds?

We went last year the week after Thanksgiving and it was fantastic. I would go again that week if my daughter wasn't starting school this year.

Tinkerbellfan, we have been twice during your second week. It is fabulous. Gets more crowded towards friday. Fantasmic either week is weekends only as it is slower, otherwise gorgeous.
I was going to inquire about the week (your first week)before that leads up to Candlelight. Our passes expire on the 6th. Same deal crowds getting heavier towards friday?

HELP!! Ok I had just booked our 3 bedroom suite for the Sunday through Thursday following Thanksgiving and now my brother says that he can only do a Fri-Mon trip ....SOOOOOOOOO has anyone experienced the crowds on the weekend following Thanksgiving so basically driving down black friday and staying til Monday or the other weekend we are considering is Friday Dec 7 through Monday the 10th? I know candlelight is the weekend before so we wont be dealing with that and the cast party should be the 10th and 11th bu we will be leaving monday anyway but I was just wondering if anyone had any experience on which weekend may be less crowded since I try to avoid weekends at disney like the plague

We went home on Saturday of your second option both times. Friday and Saturday were busier than during the week, but not totally unreasonable. Just bring your patience and fast pass experience.
I would like this one better than Thanksgiving weekend. I believe Downtown Disney (especially World of Disney) has black friday sales.

Yeah I was figuring that option right after Thanksgiving was going to be not the best....So I think what we settled on was leaving Thursday 6th thinking that my brother can head down after work ( we live in the bay area) so he still only takes Friday off and that way we have all day Fri Sat Sun and then they can leave Mon and my fam can stay all day mon since we always drive home after the fireworks cause the kids sleep the whole way home
Im hoping wih the 3 full days even being weekends we can get in everything we want and take our time to enjoy the holidays there...plus being the weeking the parks have later operating hours as well.

I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation of a good time frame to go for the halloween events, especially for the party. We'd probably be there for 2-3 days, if money allows. I don't know which days to go and I'm going to have to beg for time off so I wanted to try to plan for a less crowded time, if possible.

I like to go Sunday to Tuesday. Watch the Fireworks and Fantasmic on Sunday night, enjoy a slow Monday and then a slow Tuesday and end with the Halloween Party. All of the parties are busy so on Tuesday it's great until evening when party crowds arrive. This works very well any week of the season except the one with Columbus Day and the short week with Halloween.

The Friday parties and Halloween itself are more crowded than the Tuesday parties. The Halloween night party will most probably sell out, as will the Fridays (and maybe even Tuesdays) later in the month. The first weekend of October is Gay Days, so that Friday's party will be crowded. Also, UEA is the weekend of the 19th, so that party will be very crowded (and likely sold out). A "good" time frame is whatever works best for you. If you want a less crowded time, than a Tuesday party earlier in the month is probably better.

Is Columbus Day a busy time? I was considering that Sunday-Wednesday since the Friday parties will be packed. I just have to convince the DH to try to get time off and to beg and plead with my work for it off.

By the time the party starts, almost every party is sold out, so the crowds at the parties are about the same. So it's the rest of the time you want to look at in regards to the crowds.
Columbus Day is a mild three day weekend, and is also the weekend of Gays Days so it has a bit more crowd than the other weeks. Neither add huge crowds it's just the worst of the bunch.

Actually, I think UEA is the worst of the bunch regarding crowds. The past 2 years we've happened to be at the parks for Gay Days weekend and UEA. Both were crowded, but UEA significantly more so.

Not when you consider Sunday and into the week. UAE is midweek into the weekend period of busness. People start driving on Sunday to get back to Utah and Arizona for school and work on Monday, thus evacuating the parks. That why starting on Sunday and going the weekdays after works out better than the 3 days Columbus weekend. Also this time Gay Days is taking place on Columbus day weekend instead of before, so your exprience isn't like this coming Fall's situation.

Agree or disagree, all this goes to say that October isn't a guaranteed slow time anymore (sigh...), so extra planning is needed and will pay off.

Hey everyone. Quick question regarding crowds and when to visit, but first some back story. I've grown up in southern California, visiting Disneyland about once a year. Recently though I accepted work that's taking my and wife and I to the south, way far away from any Disney park. I'm trying to visit one last time before relocating, but unfortunately that leaves a really narrow time frame available to choose from. This coming Aug 22nd through Aug 27th is my window, with the 22nd being ideal from the perspective of my schedule. I realize I'm probably looking at pretty heavy crowds no matter what I do here, and that my window is rather narrow, but is there any particular day where I may be a bit better off as far as crowds go?
Also, unrelated but I figure I may as well ask: Are there any discounts available right now for 1-day, non-park-hopper, tickets?

I would think that the weekdays would be less busy. Many schools have started back already, I know the Arizona schools have, so you may get lucky & end up going & find crowds lighter than expected. Good luck.

According to this week's DL Update, there are no official discounts for 1-day, 1-park tickets. Have you checked with AAA, teachers' unions, credit unions, etc.?

CHOC Walk is Sunday morning, the 14th, so the parks will be more crowded at least through the late afternoon. Last year, it seemed more crowded even through the evening.

Any thoughts as to how crowded it might be September 21st and 22nd? It looks like a mixed bag. Some hotels not available, no AP rates at DL hotels, Halloween party, but Touring Plans doesn't think it will be bad.
