    Mary Poppins at the Ahmanson

    OMG, OMG, OMG!

Okay, not so much like a 15 year old now.

LOVED IT! We could see Dick Van Dyke come in from our seats, rear orchestra. Brought the house down when they brought him out on stage after curtain calls. HE said he loved it.

    Fun show.

    Thumbs up

I saw it in NYC and really enjoyed it. Very glad you had a good time, and how exciting that Dick Van Dyke was there.

I'm curious about the $20.00 seats.
Does anyone know how those work?
We will be in Southern California from Dec 19 through the 26th and would love to add seeing this show to our itinerary.
We may just try for the balcony.

I saw it in London a few years ago - a lovely lovely show!

You came to the right place, we know the ins and outs of "affordable theater" in Los Angeles...we sat in the orchestra for nothing on opening night and do Hot Tix a LOT.

    Hot Tix.

Some of them are made available in advance. Balcony seats and I've been in the boxes up on the wall. Also the extreme ends of the front rows in the orchestra. Sometimes you lose action extreme stage right or left when you're in those. You CAN order them in advance. BUT...when those are gone you have to wait for the next batch of hot tix to be released.

If there are no more hot tix for the date you want call the Center Theatre Group at (213) 628-2772. They're wonderful people there and they usually know if they will be releasing same day hot tix. IF they are just get to the Ahmanson ticket window when they open. Usually. If there's a time on them they'll tell you that too. As in "be here at 4..."

Smile Disney's Mary Poppins musical at the Ahmanson!

My hubby and I have season tickets to the Ahmanson Theatre in LA and our tickets for the Mary Poppins, the stage musical, were for last Friday. This production has the original Mary and Bert, from the London and Broadway productions.

Our seats are in Row B, center. With our subscription, we were able to order additional tickets for 2 of our friends, who joined us that night. We were able to get their original seats upgraded, from Row R, to Row N, center, so they had a great view of the show as well.

I was surprised there wasn't any kind of emotional involvement for me with the show (it doesn't seem to connect like the movie does), but the singing was good and there were a number of surprising "magical" elements to the show. I don't want to give them away, so if any of you are planning to see the show, you can be surprised as well. Both of us enjoyed Bert much more than Mary, surprisingly enough and were amazed at his hard work, especially in one of the dance numbers.

There were many children in the audience and they seemed to enjoy the show as well.

Has anyone else here seen the show yet? If so, what did you think?

I had a group of 6 and we all loved it, we sat right down in the front center, children around us were enjoying all of the show. I think the one thing the children really enjoy was when Mary flew above us all. Would I paid to see it again, no but I don't normally see any musical more then once.
