What age can kids NOT wear costumes in the park?

I thought I read somewhere else kids can't wear costumes at age 10. Is this true? I'm not talking about the Halloween Treat event-just in general.

My daughter will be 10 this trip & still wants to wear a princess dress,a Silvermist dress,& a Padme costume. Yes, my almost 10 year old refuses to grow up & I'm okay with it!

I'd say she'll be fine...my niece wore her costumes at 10...as long as it's obvious she's still a little girl in costume the CM's are going to be ok with it, it's adults imitating official characters they are trying to make sure doesn't happen.

But I bet MammaSilva is right - I doubt she would run into a problem. Now if she is 10 but looks like 18, it could be an issue. As MS said, they are really trying to prevent "adults" from dressing like the characters which can cause problems.

Well, she is a tall 9/10 year.She's often mistaken for 1-2 years older. No make up or revealing clothes though. We will have her birth certificate if need be. I could just make her do all her costume wearing in the first 4 days of the trip while she's still officially 9. Thanks!

Looks like you are going next month, according to your countdown, right? The next paragraph says,
"Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort Guidelines
In addition to the guidelines above, the age restriction is raised to include Guests ages 12 and under. Also, Guests dressed as Disney Characters are advised to not pose for pictures or sign autographs for other Guests."
So, she should be fine!! Have lots of fun! We will be there the week before you!

jaymesmom617 is correct that it is 12 and under for the official Halloween season. However they are not going to card every person in the parks to make sure that they are 9 and under or 12 and under. If it looks normal and kid like then they will not usually stop a kid that looks 14 years old.

Thanks all! Good to know about the 12 & under during Halloween time. She will pass for under 12. She will only wear a few dresses for part of a few days I suppose & Padme for the Jedi Training.

We have been doing our frig countdown since day 106 believe it or not. I suppose there's worse addictions to have.....

Make sure if she wants to get picked at the Jedi training that she makes a cute but edgy sign and she's really enthusiastic...

She did get picked last year which was a huge deal because she's really shy. She soooo wanted to do it so the jumping up & down/pick me stuff was hard for her to do. I'm hoping the Jedi Master won't be able to resist picking a Padme out of the crowd. She's commented that if she gets picked & fights Darth Vader she'd be kinda fighting "her" husband.
I really doubt she'll want to wear that outfit around the park because it's white & she's a princess at heart-wouldn't want it to get dirty!

We had no problems with our 10 y/o wearing hers in April either. I was worried cause she really loves to wear her costumes. I'm thinking it says 10 as that is the break in ticket medium, easier for the gate cms maybe. But NO ONE said a single word about it, and she had an adult ticket. Yours will have a child's ticket I'm assuming since she will start the trip at 9? Mine is also very tall. Taller than most of the girls and a good portion of the boys also.
Oh and I just let her know it might be an issue and packed another outfit just in case.

We don't have a child ticket-we got APs last year w/the Costco deal so that part doesn't matter. That's why I'll have her birth certificate. I let her know this would be her last year to wear a costume & she said "that's not fair". Such is life....
