So, my dad and I went to DLR this past weekend for the Visions Fantastic Digital Scavenger Hunt (www.visionsfantastic.com). You should all look into it for next year... it was a LOT of fun.
We left home at about 1:30 on Friday. We had to make a stop in La Verne to drop off my sister at my mom's house. We got to Downtown Disney at about 7. We were going to eat at Rainforest, but the wait was 1 1/2 hours. So we went to ESPN Zone instead. I never knew what that place was... LOL. But the food was really good, and the margaritas. We watched the Angels game that was going on down the street.
After dinner, we went to the Hyatt and checked in. We could see the fireworks from our window, which was really neat.
Saturday, we got to the park at 7:30. We had to meet the rest of our group at the picnic area. We all got registered, and we got our booklet of the things we had to find. It was a slow start, and we weren't finding much in the morning, but then we were on a roll.
Two things to mention about our day there. First of all, we saw a cast member trying politely to tell a mother and father that their two year old (or so) boy could not go to the bathroom in the flowers. Yes, the mother pulled down his pants and had him standing there, ready to go. The cast member was a little upset (older lady). But she was still nice in telling them that they need to go to the BATHROOM to do that. I've never seen someone try to pee in the flowers before.
The second thing was that I actually had to ask a child to be quite, which is another thing I've never had to do. We were waiting in the Tiki Room Courtyard, getting our Dole Whips, and this little girl was with her dad. They were speaking some other language, probably from Europe somewhere. She was yelling at him from across the courtyart, trying to get his attention, and he was just sitting there. Then she was right next to me (I was sitting on a bench) and all of a sudden she just started screaming at her dad (who was still across the way). She didn't even get two words in before I turned around and went "SSSSHHHHHH!!!!" And then I said "thank you". I felt like my eardrum went out! She was soooo loud!! She looked at me like she was scared of me or something. I was very nice about it, but yikes I hope I never have to do that again.
OMG, then in the Tiki Room I say Maynard!!!!! (Is that how you spell it?) I was like, OMG this cast member is so cool, and then he said his name! I was so excited. He was a lot of fun.
Anyway, the hunt went good for the rest of the day. We turned in our score sheets at 4 pm. After that, we went on some rides. I got to sit in the front on Slash Mountain (oh boy...) I thought I was going to die. And I got a great shower.
The awards were at 7 pm. Out of 28 teams we got...... 23rd place!!!! Woohoo!!!!! There was a total of 850 points, and we got 305.Yep. The most that anyone got was 600 something. It was super hard! I'm glad we got any points LOL.
After the awards, we went back on rides. Only 30 minute wait for Matterhorn, we went on Indy (fastpasses rock) and watch Fantasmic! OMG the new dragon is freakin awesome!!
We left at about 11:30 pm. My feet were hurting SO bad from walking around so much. But overall, it was a very very fun visit. I'm glad I did the scavenger hunt, it was something different. It makes you really look at the park, not just what's in front of you. I suggest everyone on MP to look into it next year.
Well, that's all. If I think of anything else, I'll post more. I'm hoping to make one more trip in October before I go for my honeymoon in December. (Keeping my fingers crossed)
P.S. To all the people I sent postcards to - sorry they are so messy! I had to do 7 cards in about 5 minutes!!
