Disney's Aladdin - A Musical Spectacular! to stick around until August 2010?
So I was doing my usual routine of looking up Disney auditions and playing with the idea of being a character or parade performer when I came across auditions for Aladdin at DCA. According to the description:
Contract runs October 2009-August 2010. Rehearsals begin October 5, performances begin November 6.
This must mean the show's sticking around for at least that long, if not longer. Guess that means no replacement anytime soon. Does anyone watch this show anymore? They don't even do it daily these days, right?

I watched the show just recently. I forced my sons (13 and 9) to go with me. They were really insulted. Until the show started. Both of them thanked me. Still good, still topical. I love that Geni!

At home in the hills
Everytime we attend the Alladin show, it is packed!!! And we usually see it during the week off season. Its a great show, that yeah I dragged my DH to the first time. He loved it and plans when we see it. And yeah it is dark 2 days a week but so are all (most) other plays/shows in the world. Go to Vegas and the shows are dark usually mon/tues. Alladin is dark Tues/wed.

I just hope when they do replace it, that it's with something as brilliant as Aladdin. We recently went to Disney World and saw Finding Nemo: The Musical and I must say I was a little disappointed. I'm sure I was too hard on it seeing as Finding Nemo is one of my favorite movies ever and that Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular! had set Disney's stage-show bar really high, but it just didn't come close to Aladdin. Hopefully they can bring in something new that's just as good but even if they had performances of Beauty and the Beast or The Lion King (the broadway versions) I'd be happy

I felt the same way, although I thought they did a wonderful job with
the Festival Of The Lion King. If the highly rumoured Toy Story Musical is the replacement, I'm not sure how the existing songs will fit in, as sung by the characters. When She Loved Me by Jessie and You Got A Friend In Me duet by Woody and Buzz have potential.

Unfortunately when we went to see Festival of the Lion King it was our last day in the parks and the last show of the day and so Murphey's Law kicked in and the show was cancelled due to technical difficulties.
I haven't heard much about the Toy Story Musical but that makes me a little nervous to I mean trying to take a movie as beloved as Toy Story and adding in musical numbers is a tricky thing to do, a feat that they weren't able to accomplish with Finding Nemo

According to the DCA project planner forum on Miceage.com, there's a possibility that Aladdin will be replaced by a Toy Story musical (yet, ANOTHER Pixar attraction!) during DCA's expansion. I would really love it if they brought in The Legend of the Lion King show from Disneyland Paris because I saw it on youtube and it was AMAZING!!!!
Unfortunately, this August will probably be my last time seeing the Aladdin show and I will miss a lot.
But, hopefully when Disney replaces it, it'll be as good as Aladdin and maybe even BETTER.

This is a don't miss show. Besides the music, one of the fun things is catching the genie when he adds new material.

I don't recall the full line-up of songs, but the Disney Wonder DOES have a very well done stage show of Toy Story.
And I enjoy both Nemo, FOTLK and Aladdin. They're all TOTALLY different concepts/approaches/presentation styles. One's a pretty straight musical, one's basically a musical with puppets, and one's got some music and other cool stuff presented 'in the round'.

Disneyland Makes Me Happy!!!!!
I'm glad the musical is still in full effect. I love watching it very much. Its a great way to rest your feet, relax with some cool AC and STILL be entertained.

I went and watched Aladdin for the first time in a long time yesterday. The theater was pretty much at capacity! So even after all these years now, the show still brings them in, at least during summer. So it has not worn out its welcome just yet. (Well, for most guests who come in the summer, at least!)

I think one of the elements that keeps the show fresh is the regular updating of Genie's material with jokes relating to current events. I can't even count the number of times I've seen the show, but that always amazes and amuses me!
The funniest one I recall was delivered 5/4/05 when he said he was going to Disneyland...then yelled, 'Whaddaya mean, it's closed?"
To all who come to this happy place...quit stepping on the back of my shoes!

We saw Aladdin again for the 4th time this past June trip. It's still fabulous! This time we got stuck sitting in the balcony and dh & I both agreed we were very happy it wasn't the first we'd seen it because in our opinion the mezzanine is much superior.
As much as we love it will still be exciting to have a new show there.

Wow. I LOVED the Finding Nemo musical. My brother and I can't miss it when we visit WDW. Maybe it's because I'm an elementary school teacher and really like sappy musical moments that tug at my heart strings. Maybe it's because I'm lame. Who knows? I agree that a musical Beauty and the Beast would be nice, but more like the Broadway version and less like the DHS version in WDW. In my opinion, it is a contrived and childish version that is too short for its own good. They left out crucial parts of the story (including Maurice!). How about a staged musical version of the Jungle Book or the Aristocats?
Ok, why does she even HAVE that lever?"-Kuzco

I've seen Aladdin 4 times and it's a great show but I'd like to see something new....and preferably not a Pixar show!
