If its not out of your price range and you can do it and DL can do it could you incorporate the new sleeping beauty castle walk through and rent Aurora or maybe one of the faries from sleeping beauty?

Renting characters isn't as simple as it sounds and cost is outrageous. Even for a club member at club 33 having Mickey/Minnie at a special event is very expensive...well over 1000 for a short visit. What I'm 'reading' here is he would love to do a memorable proposal but very budget friendly. If the fireworks are a big deal then work on that aspect of the night, if Pinocchio is more important...how about in front of the attraction, I would say ON the attraction but it's too loud/dark to be a great memory...if the princess is the big deal I'd make PS at Ariel's and pray for her to be in the rotation (there's never any promises on which other 4 princess you will see). Before a plan can really be worked out the priority has to be decided on.

I'm really liking the idea of Sleeping Beauty's castle. We love it in there and one time we went through it 3 times in a row. I will see if we can get that a bit private and see if Aurora could meet us at the end with congratulations
Preferably in the blue dress.
That will be a tough one without help from inside Disneyland.
Sleeping Beauty's castle sounds great. Perhaps you could propose there, then have dinner at Ariel's. When you make the ressies, you could tell them it is for an engagement and let them know Aurora is her favorite.
When my son got engaged, we let Goofy's know ahead of time, and the characters checked her ring and played up the engagement. It was fun.

thats another Idea....ariels grotto in DC is a princess dinner.....you might be able to ask for a private table outside on the water and ask see if you can steal Aroura as well. There are several occassions where DL will close due to capacity bu DC wont because it isnt as popular
too bad, there's no water right now...sounds fun.
i think that no matter what happens and you do it during the fireworks or at the end of the fireworks it will be magical for your soon to be fiance!!! especially since you already know that the fireworks mean something special to both of you. see if you can get a seat early and maybe talk to the people around you and try to hand off your camera so you can get a picture of your special moment!!!
i know for me it might not be much involved but it would be a dream come true. and it wouldn't cost anything extra like renting a character! maybe after the fireworks ends and the crowds clear you can take a picture in front of the castle on your knee and get the photopass picture with just engaged on it...
also maybe you can pretend your going to the bathroom and get some just engaged buttons so you have it ready for after she says yes!
so exciting..keep us posted!
darn thats right I forgot there isnt water right now
I think since Aroura is special and the fireworks are special keeping it around and in Sleeping Beautys castle would be great but yeah always remember the most special and romantic thing to her is how much thought she is going to know you put into this and how special she will feel when you ask her!!!
There are lots of nice romantic places in DL and DCA. Many propose at the wishing well. Some propose on the castle bridge. My son proposed in the wheelhouse of the Mark Twain. You could go back to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, get her a tiara and then propose to your princess.

I always thought it would be super romantic to be engaged at the Wishing Well. It's so quiet over there, it's adorable and nestled away from the 'horrah' of the park. Yet, you are IN THE park!
Just my two cents. Then again.... I am "fairestoneofall" so Snow White is my girl.......

Uh, it's an iPad.
oooh, like sit behind her holding a (water-proof) sign that says "will you marry me" and hold that up at the big drop so the cams get the pick and of course she'll see it when you approach the dock! but you'd have to talk to the cm's just before you go on so your pic doesn't get "washed away".... they could probably arrange it so you two could have the log to yourselves! then also, you'd be able to buy those pics and frame it!
I'd have to be with MDM on this one....I like hearing about the fairytale romances - but I'd prefer the unique!
Close... but what about holding out the ring as they go over the drop? It's quiet enough on the way up that he could shout. He should duct tape the ring to his hand or something.
I would personally just want something that isn't going to make me laugh or roll my eyes with how mushy it is.
But she sounds like a different girl...
I'm poetic, more so in mustard. ~MDM
My girl is more of an elaborate type of girl. I think she would be happy with something that she unsuspectingly walked into. Like a big plan around her she didn't even know how orchestrated everything was until the question was popped.
I am going to contact Fairy Tale Weddings today on my lunch break to see if they can work with me at all. I've also heard of people simply going to City Hall and organizing stuff there and DL worked with them as best as they could with no additional costs. I'll look into that too.
Thank you everyone for your input thus far!

Going into City Hall can work sometimes if the stars all line up at the same time, but it takes time from you to get this done. You said in an earlier post you were going to have friends around, will they help? Can they go to City Hall and let Disney people know what you are looking for? We had a tour guide assist us. Maybe pop for a tour guide if you can afford it. Maybe your friends can do something to assist you, like having the Just Engaged buttons ready?
Check out this thread also for ideas.

do you have any family or friends who can get there earlier in the day since you can not get there until 6ish? Maybe they can setup a small table with roses and a tiara or one of the white mickey bride ears in the sleeping beauty castle walk through and see if you can set up a private tour with a guide through the castle walk through and maybe have the tour guide talk about the moment Aurora first layed eyes on her prince as you arrive at the table? Just ideas you can ask about
Unfortunately no, any friends that would be there too would be riding in the car with us and I am unsure if they have the funds to even get inside the park. I was originally planning on them being there when it was just Downtown Disney to "record the fireworks", but things may change so I have to re-work the whole plan.
just remember that the fact that you are already incorporating events like watching the fireworks that are very sentimental to her will already make it very special to her and memeroble so dont be too disapointed if things dont work out exactly as you hoped and I think after you should share with her all of the different ideas that you sorted through for her. How heart warming it would be when she learns of all of the steps and thought that ypou have put into trying to make this one moment in her life so unforgetable will fill in anything you feel is missing if you cant have it exactly as you planned
WOW!!! Sounds way too complicated with all the issues. I still think it would be worth it to spring for a room facing the fireworks and have the proposal there. Would not be much more than getting into the park for two people with a one day pass. You will have AC, have a private space, and enjoy the fireworks without the crowd. The "friends" could run over while you are at Downown Disney and get the key, flowers in place, candles ready, drinks getting chilled, chocolate covered strawberries (or other treat) ready... Another thought....What about a charm bracelet? Have charms that represent your time together. A frog maybe for the Rainforest Cafe' first date.......and up to the present. Then have an engagement ring charm to give her after the big event.

Disney will not allow a table to be set up (or even brought into the park), you might be able to get the CM at the entrance to the walk through to help you out. You would need to send the GF to the restroom and have a quick talk with the CM. If they are a seasoned CM, they will be more likely to "help the magic". Tell them you are going to propose and ask if maybe they could escort you to the first area and like above, talk about the first time the Prince laid his eyes on his princess...
Also, Hilton has Disney VIew rooms that have an EXCELLENT view of the fireworks.

the one issue that you might run into with the room idea is 4th of july weekend I doubt they will allow just a 1 night reservation they usually require a 2 or 3 night min. too bad about the table ...but maybe include the idea from the proposal you mentioned at DTD with the roses and as your going through the walkthrough of the castle have others walking through hand her single roses until you get to the top or the end of the walkthrough since I know Aurora and the castle are special to her
Tinkerbell: That sounds fantastic, actually! If while we are in DL people start bringing her roses! It'll be similar, but totally romantic too. I'll have to see how much 100 roses will be and see if I can get 99 people to hand them to her. I could always scale it back a bit too if it is too much. Maybe do all of this while she is standing in front of the castle since I think inside the walkway thing would be too crowded, and I can "excuse myself" may to the bathroom and then while I'm gone people start bringing her flowers one by one. Then I can bring her the last one and propose.
I really like this idea
Make the roses match how many months/years you have been together. Disney also has roses with characters and sayings on them if it is what you want.
