Thread: What's in your Bag?

  1. #1

    What's in your Bag?

So, I'm one of those "planner people" that always has the "Disney" essentials on hand for any upcoming Disneyland trip (i.e hand sanitizer, sun screen, Annual Pass, etc...)
This stuff stays in the "Disney" bag at all times and than when I run out of stuff, I pick it up on my next trip to Target or Wal-Mart so I know I will have it ahead of time.
Thought we could all share what we keep "on hand" and give each other ideas of what works for them.
Here's a few to start off with:
100 calorie packs or small snack to tide the kids over until we eat a meal.
Wet wipes and hand sanitizer for our hands when we aren't near a restroom. I also use the wet ones to wipe down tables.
Tide pen for accidental spills on clothing
My "disney" wallet, only has essentials in it and not all the other "stuff" from everyday living.
I know theres more but just though it would be interesting to see what everyone else does.

In my "locker" bag I keep a blanket for fireworks seating, jackets, hats, gloves, cheap ponchos, and sunblock. That gets stored as soon as we walk in the park.

If I'm traveling with just my husband or solo I carry only a tiny wristlet thingie that holds a chapstick, cell phone, blister band aids, some advil and antihistimines. Anything else we need in an emergency, we buy. My husband has to carry a couple of snacks because he gets wiggy when his sugar is low. I have a hat I can fold up and put a strap on my sunglasses so I don't have to worry about losing them. My AP shows in a view slot on this bag and there's room for a couple of other cards and some money. The whole thing weighs next to nothing.

When escorting guests, I add an additional bag to my locker bag that holds small amounts of just about any OTC drug you can think of from the 99 Cents Only store; glow sticks (from 99 Cents Only), and a few small Disney toys (99 Cents Only is your friend!).

With guests, instead of the wristlet, I carry a small Disney backpack with a small selection of OTC's, sunscreen wipes, a few ponchos, a pump mister if it's hot, a "mini" Tide stick (cool!), hand sanitizer and wipes, along with everyone's media (for FastPass runs) and our itinerary. I don't carry much extra but will volunteer to hold a child's hat.

My niece and nephew are old enough to wear their own fanny pack (but not too old to feel silly about it). They carry their own snacks and toys.

I keep band aids, mole skin and a little pair of sissors. It came in handy on our trip in May. The mole skin saved us from some major blisters. Love the idea of a fireworks blanket in the locker. I will have to incorporate that one

In "our" disney bag, we carry snacks, frozen water bottles, headache medicine, chapstick some bandaids, my sons Disney gift card a spare
pair of sun glasses for him and his autograph book and a few pens (in
case one runs out of ink). Oh and his camera

I also carry a very very small long strapped shoulder bag that crosses
my body which holds my camera, money and cards of course, our park passes
and room key, I also stuff my sunglasses in there when on a ride. We both
take turns with the "disney bag" all day especially when its hot... it has worked out great with us, its more of a mini backpack. I like the idea of wet
wipes and hand sanitizer will have to add a small pack of those in this years
    bag...

In addition to many of the items mentioned above, I keep some ziploc baggies to put my camera and cell phone in to protect them during wet rides.

oh thats a good one!! Especially since I didn't know when watching the Pixar parade last July that you got wet!!! I wish I had the water proof housing for my camera with me! Haha!
That's a good idea too for left overs. Especially the over sized suckers (jaw breakers) that my kids used to get and couldn't finish but didn't want to throw away....Yes they would suck on those til their tongue bled! (once a year treat)

another thing with the ziplocks, I carry a sharpie to MARK the ziplocks with leftover candies and assorted snacks so we know what bag belongs to whom.

    I like this thread!

I always make my list of Disneyland items to take with me: Sunglasses, sunscreen, hairband, camera, phone, ibuprofen, my waterproof wallet thing that I got just for Disneyland (it holds cards and cash perfectly), and.... chapstick. I think that's it.

In addition to items already mentioned, I always like to throw in the individual servings of salad dressing (low fat Ranch, basalmic vinegrette) for lunch/dinner. We're trying to eat healthier so in addition to trail mix, string cheese, fruit, etc., we use the packets of salad dressing. No refrigeration necessary!

We carry a backpack and it holds:
    Jackets
Soda (only a couple of bottles of DR.Pepper since they don't sell it)
    Water
Pennies and quarters along with the penny books
    A small wallet so I don't haul a purse
Clorox wipes for toilets in case the seat covers are empty (travel pack)
    Hand sanitizer
    Gum
    Extra memory card for camera
    Tylenol
    Chapstick
    Few bandaids

My fiance is kind enough to wear our hip pack for us. It always has: water bottles, extra pair of moisture wick socks for each of us, big baggie of snacks inc. fruit snacks, granola bars, raisins, nuts etc, single serving powdered gatorades, extra batteries, moleskin, 2 things of sunscreen, extra baggies for wet rides, and big trash bags to use as impromptu ponchos in case it rains.

Every time we go, I somehow forget to put chapstick in there and end up trying to find a place that sells it but they are always out. We are going tomorrow and I have yet to remember to put some in

This is an awesome thread, I have picked up so many "new" ideas to add
to my organizational freak head! lol......

Definately like the idea of the tide pen, adding powder drink mix if we should
have to refill water bottles at the park can hide th flavor of the local water,
no offense but it is awful! I will have to remember quarters and pennies, i assume they sell penny books in the park?

Where do you get th individual packs of salad dressing, I am assuming at
Wendy's or McD's or something but would love to know where you get them!

Good idea on the plastic bags with the sharpie to mark who's who's....

They sell penny books all over, including resorts.

If you plan to take pennies and quarters and are traveling by air, be sure to roll them if you are taking them through baggage check. Mass quantities of metal can't easily be scanned and you may get stopped to haul your baggie of pennies out of your bag and get a little talking to from the security folks.

I forgot to say I always have a couple of spare contacts (I wear dailies). My eyes might dry out by the end of the day and I've come close to losing one on a water ride. (For sure I lost one on a water slide at our resort!)

I buy the individual packs of salad dressing at the grocery story. Kraft sells 8-1oz. packages that are 25 calories a piece.

Of course, I do pick up packets of low-fat stuff when I find it.

Also, I love the individual packs of peanut butter for apple slices.

Where do you find the individual peanut butters?

Also, I love the Trader Joe's "Just a Handful" snack bags of nuts or trailmix when someone is starting to get low blood sugar. They don't melt or make a mess.

I have two bags ready all the time-

    1. My DL backpack: pack of cards, pens, water bowl, first aid kit, 2 bottles of hand sanitizer, dog ears, ziploc bags, and more...

    2. The DL Dog Bag: dog boots (to protect from hot asphalt), toys, rain coat, light up collar, spare leash, toys, DL light ring, spare vests, pick-up bags, treats, toys, brush, nail clipper, toothpaste/brush, and of course toys.

And I have personal PBs too! Just for very different reasons my dogs love it as a treat and it gets gum/candy out of dog fur.

We pick them up at various breakfasts. They usually have them by the bagels. We make sure we have a couple with us at all times.

I can second this after I was stopped and my changed was rolled. I have never been pulled to the side like that and have my bagged searched. This time I was going to give them a heads up!

Oh, I knew this would be a good subject to start! I have to admit, I'm happy that I seem to be doing what the majority of you all are doing too, but have picked up some great ideas also!!
Love the salad dressing and PB ideas! I too bring the Gatorade packs or crystal light packs. I made the mistake however of just putting them in a side pocket inside my tote bag and yes one popped open and got powder everywhere! So, if you are planning on bringing some of the water flavor packs, place them in their own zip lock bag or other type of container!
Thanks again for all that have contributed to the thread!

    Camera "clip"

Oh, I thought of one other thing that I do. I carry a tote bag on most occasions so when I go to grab my little power shot camera, it seems like I'm always "digging" for it, so my bright and smart teenager went to the hardware store and got me one of those heavy duty clip things (sorry don't know their real name) It's the clips that a military person or rock climber may use. So any way, I have the camera clipped to the shoulder strap of my tote bag now so I always know where to grab it! Clever kid huh?

In addition to picking up the peanut butter packets at restaurants, I also buy the individual portions in the grocery store (Jiffy brand). Little bit pricier but it works!

Oh, and I also get the individual portions of low-fat caramel apple dip! I always cut up apples to bring to the park (travel with knives and cutting board!)--the caramel dip is a nice way to have a non-guilty sweet treat!

Your clip is a carabiner. I use one for a key ring as well. I hope it is clipped inside your bag so your camera is safe but easy to find.

Generally in my Disneyland backpack I keep sunblock wipes (not as heavy and reusable), chapstick, jolly ranchers, a small wallet, baggies, some kind of protein snack (jerky, nuts, etc), extra batteries, and quarters and pennies. My new bag also holds two beverages. Usually a water and a gatorade.

I used to have te digging for the camera issue too but my new bag has a small zippered compartment that comes in handy for my wallet and camera.

We always store a lunchbag in a locker with our jackets as well. We really liked the individual Jif peanut butters on our last trip. Those worked out really well. We always put a frozen water for each of us in there too.

I have no idea what my teenager carries in her bag though.
