Thanks for the help everyone!! We are still trying!

I just made a dinner ressie at the GF cafe for a solo dinner. Is there a bar to sit at? Or should I get a table?

I don't recall if there's a bar at the GF Cafe - but I generally don't sit at bars unless I'm waiting for my table. I guess partly because when I'm at home, I read when I'm out at restaurants. And even though I don't when I'm at WDW solo, I've gotten into that habit, and it just 'feels wrong' to be at the bar. Plus you have your back to everything but the bartender, and unless it's not busy and I start talking with the bartender, I feel like it's odd to 'just watch him/her work'. And I feel more rushed at a bar.

I don't recall seeing a bar either, we were there a week ago tomorrow.

So not sure about the GF cafe....what about the Wave? I need a cool place to go for dinner close to MK because it EMH that night. Thoughts? It is just me and a livelier atmosphere would be great

I recommend the Kona Sushi Bar at the Poly. Just steps from the monorail. Fairly quick, so you get back to the parks. You can sit at the counter so it's pretty easy to have a conversation with others.

I have had a solo breakfast at the GF Cafe. Definitely not a lively place, but very nice nonetheless.

yummm sushi...thanks jonesin4dland! That sounds like a great idea. Now I need to decide on a sit down breakfast for my last day. I will be staying at the Dolphin and want to make use of the close proximity to Epcot and the other resorts. I was going to do Kona but I would have to check out really early just to get there and would kind of "waste" my morning hours that I have left in the hotel. Ideally I would like a 7:30 ressie so I could then go back to the room, shower and pack up or maybe go donw to the pool one laste time before heading out to the parks. I'll keep you posted

I have another 6 weeks before my 180 mark comes up for my next trip. Deciding on meals this time is going to be much more difficult. My sister is going with the boys and I and I really don't thinks she gets the whole 180 day thing. I'm going to try and corner her so we can talk about food a little bit.
I don't know what, if any, restaurants I want to repeat. I'd say R&C, but there are so many other places at Epcot that I have yet to try.

I'm pretty sure it was in the Dolphin, but I went to "Fresh" one time for breakfast, and it was quite yummy. Not a character breakfast, and not screaming "Disney", but for a breakfast before you have to head home, more than adequate.

Silvercat... I think every time we did T-Rex it was as a walk-up. Usually no more than a 20-30 min wait. I would not think that lunch time would be all that busy, but if you try to get there early in their lunch service, you should have a good shot. The place is rather big, so it takes a while to fill up.

The search function is like the Force. It may take practice, but the more you use it, the more control you will have over it!

Oh, okay thanks! I am not too worried about that one, it was Le C I was most worried about. Thanks for the info, we will probably just go with wandering in there when we are ready for lunch!

So finally after discussing endlessly with my mother, all our ADR's are booked. We are booked for the Fanstasmic Dinner Package with lunch at Mama Melrose, dinner at Tony's Town Square and breakfast at Boma. We also booked although not considered ADR's but Grand Gatherings, the Safari Dinner at Tusker House and Illumination Dinner and Desert at Odyssey.

Its apart of The Grand Gatherings Experiences. We have a buffet style dinner from foods around World Showcase, story time with the kids by Auntie Roz and some characters. Then they take everyone down to the water (forgive me that I don't know what its called. I've never been to WDW) and we have preferred viewing for Illuminations and a desert reception during the show.

Ever go to hibachi place before? They are all pretty much the same. It is crowded in there, but I was okay with it. The manager there was really nice and went over to each of the tables and introduced himself. I think that is starting to happen now more and more in WDW because it also happened in Mama Melrose and Tutto Italia (although that could have been Tutto just opened).

I think I posted a picture of the vegetarian entre under the Food Pics thread I started.

I like it there, but I have done it 2x now in 1 year so I am ready to move on a try some place else.

We are doing Teppan Edo this trip. And looking forward to it. DW and I have done this type of place before but it's the first for the kids.

I know they say this, but really do be careful because the table top is hot and the surrounding separator (?) (what separates the grill with the table) is hot too! I went to put something down and my knuckle hit it as it was warming up. Ow!!!!!!

The sauces they have are the best. The fish white sauce is awesome. I use it with everything.

The soup (you have to pay extra) is a little on the fishy side.

And if you want to order a mixed drink that is not on the menu, get a manager. I think I've told this story before, but the waitresses don't understand what isn't on the menu. My aunt wanted a vodka and tonic and the waitress said that they don't serve that. She tried to explain it, but the girl just smiled and kept pointing to their drink menu. That doesn't bother me, but I can see how that can be frustrating.

Thanks for the info! Especially the hot spots. We have been already preaching to the kids about not touching the table and stuff around it. As kids are prone to do.

Yes, you sit with a group of 8, I believe. It's the main reason I've never done this restaurant - what group wants some single guy that they don't know sitting at their table?

I did it with my sister, and there were 3 different groups at our table. Everyone, for the most part, didn't interact between groups. I've also eaten at other similar restaurants and because of the arrangement of seats along the outside of the table, it's not exactly conducive to interaction between the groups. It would maybe be awkward if they added you with a group of 6 or 7, but if there were 2 other groups, it probably wouldn't be bad, except for the pacing issue.

I just found the food to be fairly straightforward - which for some is a great thing. But it was much like the 'stir fry' I do at home on a semi-regular basis. Also, we did have some pacing issues. My sister and I were eating slower than the other two groups, and the waitress was pacing us all together, so therefore we were being rushed slightly.

ETA: But my experience was before the big overhaul of the restaurant, so things could have changed.
