I don't know - let us know when you get back!

I didn't think Kona had that unusual of a menu (maybe I should go look at it again!) and Boma is a buffet that has a 'kids' section so nobody will starve and maybe they'll find something new that they like! Raglan Road is pretty mild, too, (I think I had pork stuffed in pork stuffed in pork - maybe just one stuffing, though ) that wasn't really 'unusual' on it's flavors. I think my nephews all had fish and chips there, and they liked those. So I think you did well on selecting restaurants that might be a stretch for them, but still without significant concerns that they won't find ANYTHING to eat!

HAHA, that's what I was afraid of with Chef Mickey's. Actually I think all of the rest of my party could do without the character interaction but I need to get my fix, yanno? I really wanted to go back to Garden Grill as Chip & Dale are my faves BUT I figured we would try something new and I will just have to settle for Pluto!

Kona didn't really worry me because as long as they have some sort of steak, DD and DH will be happy. Raglan Road, I was more afraid of trying to explain what a bangers and mash is, LOL. I think they will do fine though once they figure out what everything is! Boma is the one I was most worried about... I fully expect my husband to walk through the door and just stop like a dog when he realizes you just walked into the vet's office, LOL! I think if I can at least get him to look at the food, we will win him over though! I don't care if everyone else backs out or if they all eat mac and cheese from the kids bar, I am going to thoroughly enjoy all of my meals!

Boma is excellent. We ate there the first night of our recent visit. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed it--me, wife, kids (12yr son, 8yr daughter). It is a bit exotic, but nothing outlandish. All of us tried at least a little of pretty much everything, and came away completely happy & completely full .

I think that's a good plan actually. Chef Mickey's is always going to be popular, but I think that 10:30 is a good time to avoid the crowd, if at all possible. If it were a Saturday or Sunday, I'd say that you probably wouldn't be able to avoid it. I imagine that people eat breakfast late on those days before heading home. In fact, we're having a late breakfast there after we check out.

Another good one, if you really wanna see chip and dale would be Cape May at the Beach Club resort. At least, they used to be there. They have mickey's friends, but no Mickey. Of course Chef Mickey's has mickey, though. Anyway, just a suggestion. We love Cape May, but we're doing Chef Mickey's for the first time this time. That way we won't have to wait in long lines at the parks to see him. Anyway, your list looks great! GL and have fun!

We're heading down on Sept. 6th.

Got dinner at Coral Reef that night.
Breakfast at Crystal Palace with Pooh the next morning.
Lunch at T Rex Cafe the day after that.

Otherwise still trying to figure it out. I had no luck getting an ADR at Le Cellier which is the one place I really wanted to eat. Might try my luck the day of.
We didn't get park hoppers in the interest of savings and since we'll have a little guy who's probably only good for one park a day. So I'm trying to work around an intinerary.

Doesn't matter. Just happy to be going!!!

Anyone have good reports on those or suggestions on what to try when we go? My husband and daughter are NOT the "try new things" type so last year I stuck with more "american" type foods like Whispering Canyon, 50's Prime Time, Garden Grill and Tony's. We also did Le Cellier, Planet Hollywood and Coral Wave last year and they were definite "we have to go there again" requests! It was hard to talk my fam into trying Boma, Kona Cafe & Raglan Road this year so I hope it won't backfire on me!

Teppan Edo was new for me last time. LOVED the sirloin/chicken combo. Very easy for picky eaters as it's just veggies, meat, rice, and noodles.

Raglan Road--lots of goodies, but if you have picky ones, there's a good beef stew and the fish & chips are "normal."

Kona has a delish teriyaki strip steak that isn't too far off the beaten path of "American dishes."

Boma has enough stuff to choose from that you can decide when you're there if you want to eat things you can identify (like chicken strips or mac & cheese) or go for yummies like bobotie and delish soups. It's different flavors, but not spicy hot or strange enough that you'd run away freaked out. There's always fresh fruit and salad if nothing else!

Haven't been to Chef Mickey's as I'm not huge on character buffets (go figure), but I have a close friend that is ALL about Chef Mickey's and has to do it every time they go.

All booked and I got everything I wanted!! Used the new online system and loved it! It even let me put in our "celebrations."

Sept. 30th - Dinner at Le Cellier - 8:10 pm (I know this will cause us not to see Illuminations, but we plan on spending all of our evenings at Epcot since it will be F & W Fest, so we'll catch it later) Our anniversary and our favorite place from last trip in March

Oct. 1st - Yak & Yeti - 11:30 am (we usually can finish up AK in a half day, so thought an early lunch would be good) New to us

Oct 2nd - Nothing - Hoping to go to DHS in the am and then head over to Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club for lunch. We've never been, but have always wanted to.

Oct 3rd - Kona Cafe - 7:05 pm Husband's B-Day and his choice. We ate there twice on our last visit and both loved it.

We have the basic dining plan, but since it's just the 2 of us we are considering upgrading to the DDP. We would really like to go to the Halloween Party on the 1st and would like to have a sit down dinner prior or during that. But with F & W fest, we are thinking that we'll be sampling a lot and probably will not need all of the food that goes along with DDP.

I am just so excited that we got everything that we wanted!! I was up before six and logged on and actually have a few times pop up for Le Cellier. Could be because we are arriving on a Wednesday?

Glad to hear you got everything you wanted!

I would think that if you plan on going to Epcot every nightt for F&W, then the DDP would be too much. Plus, you'd have to worry about all those reservations--not as much freedom. The DDP would be too much for me anyway, but that's just me. Well, GL!

Am I remembering right that the dishes at the Epcot Food & Wine Festival can be considered a CS meal?

I've only been to F&W once, but I do know that most if not all of the samples can be paid for with snack credits.
    Erin

  12. #186

Yes, when we've been in the past we have used our snack credits at the F & W Fest. (never our CS credits) It is a much better value to use them there than to use them for some of the other snack options (ie bottled water). I think it probably would be too much to do the DDP, but this time we'd be with no kids so the scheduling would not be as hard. I guess we'll just pay out of pocket for an extra meal the night of the Halloween Party if we need to. I don't love the CS food in MK, but we could use the CS meal from that day on our departure day.

MY DH b-day is the 16th too!!!

Called yesterday for Yak and Yeti, since we are a large group we had to call them directly. We had to split our group up but got in at 3:00. NOt too bad since that will be our big meal of the day. But not sure how that will go with how the 2yo will take his nap that day. Perhaps it will be a stroller nap that day. Anyone know what time the CS retaurants in All Star Sports is open until? DHS is open until 10 that night and was thinking maybe we'll eat a late snack when we get back. Still hoping for an earlier ADR for Crystal Palace. Maybe I should try splitting up our group again. What do you all think?

I THINK the resort food court at the value resorts is open until midnight. It might be 11, though.

Certain parts of the food court stay open until different times. I know that the pizza station stays open until midnight.

For our entire stay my group of 8 is split up for every meal. We are 2 families of 4, but all 15+ so it will be the parents and me, my sister, and 2 cousins at another table. It kind of stinks, but we are hoping that we will at least to get the tables together. The CM on the phone get to the restaurant as early as possible (really good if you can get there 1st thing in the morning) and ask them if they can get the tables as close a possible. No harm in trying.

Yeah but probably a couple meals away from each other may be a good thing though too!! Too much togetherness can make for a cranky family!!!

I just added 2 breakfasts, Crystal Palace & Kona Cafe(for the coffee & Mac nut pancakes) to my already overbooked ADRs. I'm going to have to take out a loan to pay for all of this food, not really, most of it is free dining so I can afford to pay for breakfast.

After much stressing and gnashing of teeth, I made my ADRs between 6:15-7am on Sunday morning, after finally figuring out how to get to my +10 days.
All of us= me, DH, our 3-yr-old and my parents

Biergarten for lunch on Monday (All of us)
Donald's Safari Breakfast on Tuesday, at 8:05, with park opening at 9am! (All of us)
Le Cellier for dinner on Tuesday (just me and DH)
Chef Mickey's for breakfast on Wednesday (All of us)
Ohana for dinner on Wednesday (All of us)

The rest will be counter service on the fly, which is a huge departure for me. This trip is going to be almost like being there for the first time, it'll be so different from what I'm used to!

I haven't booked AR's yet not time til the 31st of the month.
    Oct.29-House of Blues
    Oct30-Luau
    Oct31-Tonys or The Plaza
    Nov.1-Cindys Lunch, 50's Prime Dinner
    Nov.2-Ohana
Nov.3-Chef Mickeys breakfast before plane ride home
Any suggestions before I book my AR's would be appreciated. I'm taking my mom and my friend for their first time. This will be my ninth trip. I've never eaten at Tonys or the Plaza before but we have tickets to the Halloween party that evening of the 31st so I would like to stay in Magic Kingdom. Any one tried House of Blues? My mom liked the idea and my 15 year old son loves the blues brothers movie. Thanks in advance for all your input!

I haven't been to any House of Blues - but I don't think there's ANY connection to the Blues Brothers movie.

I see nothing from Epcot on your list. That's one of my favorite theme parks to eat in, since there's so much variety, plus you're going there during the Food & Wine festival, so you may want to plan some time to 'snack' around the world from the food booths!
